Blizzard has just released their second batch of screenshots (see here if you missed the first) for hitting the 575k 'Like' mark. Once again, we've got the high resolution versions at our disposal here on DiabloFans.

The first image we have here is a concept of the Witch Doctor's Firebomb skill, which looks amazing, and somewhat reminds me of the old Elemental spell from Diablo I.
The second screenshot takes place in the well known Stinging Winds area in Act II and depicts the Monk, wielding what looks to be a Katar, using his what also looks to be his Dashing Strike skill past a lonely Fallen, into a group of the Fallen Ones and their hounds. In addition, it appears we caught a glimpse of some kind of spell or death animation (that giant green cloud) that happened just before the action shot. It also seems as if the Monk has just departed from some kind of town or encampment, judging by the large flags and pretty clear cut path he is running along. This could potentially be one of those random encounters during gameplay that we've heard so much about. Something else worth mentioning is the caterpillar-looking critter on the floor, perhaps we can squish them like D2.

Interesting how Act 2 is also a desert as it was in D2... Will d3 follow the same guide as D2 in terms of Acts?
Not exactly. Act 3 in Diablo 3 will (most likely) be Bastion's Keep in the Dreadlands where Mount Arreat used to be. It will get darker and darker as we progress, though, that's confirmed.
Well based on some hints, it seems like Act 3 will be in the Dreadlands. They said we've already seen a glimpse of Act 3, and the only thing other than the demo footage (that I'm aware of) that could be part of a different Act is Bastion's Keep.
And I love that Firebomb art. And nice find with that rolling head Pretty awesome.
Typically we see the monk with his fists and a fist-weapon. But I've seen pics of him with a battle staff. Are these the main weapons he will utilize? (note, there is no info on the wiki)
EDIT: Just found where there is an ability that increases damage while wielding swords, so there's another.
EDIT2: and for a 2-handed weapon (which is generic)
He can use polearms, staves, fist weapons, and one handed swords last I heard. He's been able to use other stuff at certain points in development (ie shields) so it could've changed by now.
weapon specialization will play a big role. there's a skill that uses the staff to deflect projectiles. I don't think this will work on fist weapons/swords.
Wow that second screenie is awesome.. Is it just me or do the more recent images look A LOT better at full resolution than the ones from 2 months ago? Must less lagged edges. The hounds look amazing.

That's....potentially a shame. I loved how the Assassin could use her passive block skill while having dual claws. Hopefully the Monk's claws will still be able to deflect melee attacks.

The thing is that the skill that deflects projectiles is active, not passive.
Perhaps i'm wrong, though. Serenity: The Monk creates a shield that protects him from all incoming damage. Lasts X seconds.
from our wiki page doesn't mention specific skills and you should be a happy camper!

Sounds like a buff anyway. Like Burst of Speed. Hehe, buff.
One thing I love about that screen is it really showcases the 3-d. I love those poles with the banners waving on them and how they're really close to the camera.
i think i remembered an animation for that skill. the monk had a staff and he moved it around blocking the projectiles (i thought he was deflecting them). not sure how exactly it's gonna work, though. And i'm getting intrigued to check the monk out too now, damn

Also, I find it odd that Shamans are in A2 at all, but maybe this is just a generic photo

Honestly, I've not kept up with everything - only the core gameplay aspects. But thanks for pointing that out.
So - allow me to ask - the Fallen Ones still have the smaller Fallen which are resurrected along with these hyen... erm hounds?

So hopefully it will be meaningful to have a staff loadout on one, and a claw loadout on the other.
