Well have faith. There is still team 3 which is seperate from warcraft and starcraft. Which means they are probably working on Diablo 3. Give them some time to make some media that is actually presentable to the media.
PS: Can someone send me some links of Blizzard insiders making OBVIOUS references to D3.
Hate to say but there are pretty much none, other than Richard Knaak and the reference to multiple teams (which doesn't even necessarily mean D3). All the rest of the information is from unsubstantiated leaks, rumours and speculation.
remain optimistic men.. blizzard is probably watching all of these posts laughing their asses off.. i bet theyre fuckin with us.. didnt they say they were going to announce what Team 3 was working on? it may just be a trick to get us all down and then BOOM!!
and richard a knaack saying hes writing for a game with dead, not a dead game.. or something like that. but that cood just mean diablo 2 is stll popular.
i just have a thought when BLZ is going to announce diablo 3, they will own this site first.. so , as this site is still individual , d3 will have no chance..

I'll be around these forums since they discuss one of the few games I'm interested in. For the meantime, I think I'll do some reading, would anyone recommend Richard Knaak's Diablo Book series.
PS: BTW, I'm about to finish "I am Legend", its a nice short novel for anyone who's into that kind of stuff.
This is my first time posting on these forums, I wish my first post was regarding more positive news, but I really needed some place to vent my frustration. I'm not a hardcore gamer, in fact the only games I played are Counter-Strike, Warcraft III and particularly Diablo II.
I appreciate your articulation on this. While it is frustrating that they're clearly not going to announce Diablo 3 at Blizzcon, perhaps we should keep in mind Blizzard's track record for time intervals between sequels. Starcraft: Brood Wars was released in 1998. Now, almost ten years later, we can see it's about to be released either early next year or possibly sooner. Consider Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness. It was released late in 1995. Its next sequel would not be released until Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos. So that's seven years in between those games. Sheesh! Lastly, Diablo's latest release, LoD, was put out the summer of 2001. So to date, out of those three games, the Diablo series still has yet to wait for a sequel as long as the other two games have. Since it's been only six years since LoD, compared to the other games that's still not as long.
However, that doesn't necessarily justify the long wait. Obviously the scope and revenues of Blizzard today is much larger than it was back in 2001. So surely Blizzard would have the resources to make great games without as much wait in between, yes? Maybe so, maybe not. But the way I see it is if they're as big as they seem to be now, then it doesn't seem we should have to wait much longer for at least an official announcement. However, if their resources are indeed stretched to the limit, even for Blizzard, then maybe we will be waiting for that average time between releases just as we have for Starcraft and Warcraft games (expansion intervals not included).

I realize WOW is a very profitable franchise, and Blizzard along with all its investors are raking in tons of cash, but its not like Diablo is a cult franchise. In other words, Diablo II was a very successful game that not only made unprecedented profits but also defined the RPG genre.
Not only that, as far as fantasy RPG's are considered, Diablo has a very authentic and unique ambiance to it as well. It is a very unique game in many aspects. Personally, I have difficulty directly comparing it to any other game. And games like this have a huge impact on fans. And many fans appreciate it for different reasons. Some specifically enjoy character building (which in itself has tons of different aspects to it), while others enjoy it mostly for its content; with its engaging storyline, in-depth background lore, well-written and voiced NPC dialogue, and even the original score, which I personally think is one of the best scores for a soundtrack ever (especially the tracks on LoD). Lastly, I also enjoy how the Diablo franchise has brought tons of people together. Despite many of our differences, at least we know we all have very good tastes in games. One or two in particular.

So, I would kindly like to ask Blizzard to announce a new Diablo III before the game withers away into cult status.
While I'll admit that Diablo now seems more obscure than the other Blizzard franchises, I still believe it is safe from cult status. It's not just hope that indicates that, but also that Diablo still has tons of fans and like many have pointed out, Knaak insisted he's not writing about a dead franchise.
it will be winter 2013 optimistically

as a fat guy with carpal tunnel, glasses, obiesety, and playes WoW all day, and leans to the left, its quite hard i must admit.
