So I'm a senior in high school and I love to draw and I'm taking many art classes at the moment. I just got some sketch books for Christmas and I've been drawing a lot in my spare time. When I draw i dont like to copy things or trace or anything like that, I try to be as original as I can. So im looking through all of your sketches and i see alot of good drawings that capture the gesture and proportions of the figures. Are you drawing those from imigination? Or are you copying them and twisting them around?
By the way, ill have a few sketches up on here once i get my camera working.
Drawing from Imagination is a myth... You're actually just drawing from memories, the more memories you encompass into your new "original" drawing, the more you believe that you just created something new in your own imagination
Do you think people would be drawing Griffons if Lions and Eagles didn't exist?
Get 10 pictures of both Lions and Eagles in different poses, and anatomical diagrams. Draw them over and over again until you can draw both animals in any pose possible and with it looking realistic
Then when it comes to draw a Griffon you will find it surprisingly easy
Anatomy is the most important part of fantasy art IMO, and it doesnt matter how original you are, you didnt invent anatomy So I guess you'll have to copy
The hand, fingers and joints look real good, but the wrist doesn't seem right more specifically the joint of the wrist on the right side, the two bones seem like they're sandwiched together, fix you shading, it seems like theres a fold in the skin when there souldn't be any because the skin is stretched on that side.

Theoretically, yes. But people have different body types and some have bones/joints more prominent than others. This is my case.

Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
I'm currently working on that.
