Hey,
Who wants to tell me about there journeys in Fallout 3?
Im just startin a game up of this lil beauty tonight!
Ive had it for awhile now but never checked it out til now. I was playing Fallout2 before but i wanted to skip ahead and try 3. Ive beat Fallout 1 maybe less then a year ago an thought it was a very good game.
Anyways what type of guy should i make? In fallout1 i made a guy who put most points into small guns and i think it was lockpick forget whatelse. But later in the game (inFO1) the plasma guns were the best. (Cant remember the actual name of the gun) but they when you shoot the super mutants they desolve onto the floor. Always wanted to make a guy who uses melee weapons in FO1 after i beat it with guns an use the mauls like the guys in the brotherhood of steel.
yelp, tell me about this game there you lil son bitches. ahahaa.
just kiddin about the son bitches part u guys. ehe.
and heres a cheeseburger for 1 of you cheeseburger eatin bastards to chew on.
enjoy.
I'd tag small guns as one of your skills. As you gradually level up, you can start spending a point here and there on energy weapons. By the time you start getting really good energy weapons, even if your skill in that is up to 50, you'll do just fine with them. And you can always spend a perk on the one that gives you like 15 to energy weapons.
Grenades and mines are really fun in that game so it's worth spending on explosives. I think big weapons are a bit of a waste. When I find missile launchers or mini nukes I just use them up real quickly.
Melee is worth spending points on for sure.
Note: Save all the Quantum Nuka Colas you find for making nuka-grenades. They're so awesome and they do a ton of blast damage and keep your enemies burning for a bit.
I'm sure by now you know about the atom bomb in the middle of Megaton. You can choose later to detonate it or not. Fairly interesting consequences depending on your choice here. Ultimately though I choose not to just because Megaton is one of two cities you can have a home in and it's the more practical and accessible choice in where to live if you ask me.
Um, I could talk about this game for hours, really. I have lots of good memories playing it. do you have the expansion sets too? There's the one that raises the level cap to 30 which is really nice. Broken...Steel, I think it is.
Yeah I thought they implemented the stealth in Fallout 3 reasonably well. I loved infiltrating a huge building crawling with super mutants while wearing my recon armor and armed with the dart gun. And just crippling and poisoning them all to death and they can never find me.
Well fellors, i didnt get very far into it yet. but i went with small guns, lockpicks, and speech. anyways i hear it doesnt really matter much about your build in this game since its easy. ya, i have the game of the year version on xbox with the dlc stuff on it. It did say something about the level cap has increased to 30 when i left the starting vault.
About the dlc stuff, is it better to wait and do those after doing the main questline? or does it not really matter.
Yeah, what you tag doesn't make a huge difference. There are many ways to bring all your stats up anyway through perks and items.
Broken Steel takes place after the events of the original main quests. As for the others, you can play them in any order. I like to do all DLC content before finishing the main story quests.
Get yourself the dart gun and shishkebab schematics. Great weapons to proceed with as early as possible.
vats is frustrating when i miss a headshot from close range. i feel like the game has no real direction for a while so i got a bit bored with it, but im doing a couple hours every day or so just exploring. the companions arent very helpful, they keep attracting monsters lol.

What i noticed is, how can you heal for free? im at/near the shithole town of megaton an i dont want to pay top dollar to rest in the hotel. So i tried using the dirty shit toilet bowl room for healin but its just upping my radiation level.
Maybe if i find an abandoned bed someplace would be great, i just dont feel like handin over my cash to rest in hotels. Or is money not a problem in this game were we can just blow all our caps?
And, did you guys play as a bad or good guy or a whatever guy? I wanted to help that guy blow up megaton but i didnt want to get rid of the stores there. Since i'd probaly be returning alot to sell my stuff i find in the wastes. So i turned him in an helped kill him. Also he killed the sheriff, so i got to take his gun & cowboy hat also.
I like filling up the backpack and then eating all the food when it gets too heavy. It makes a cool munchy noise. The food sounds delicious as well. Mmm crispy squirrel bits.

I never travel with companions. No Bethesda game I've played has yet to implement that mechanic in a sufficient way. And while not as annoying as random monster encounters in Oblivion, yeah, your escorts will still attract other monsters. The only time it's really worth having a companion is when you get Fawkes. He's actually a bit overpowered. Once you get him you don't really need to fire your weapon again. Kind of takes the fun out of it actually so I just leave him waiting by my house unless I want to forgo sneaking into a place and just go in guns blazing instead.
As for headshots and close range, well VATS itself doesn't have THAT much logic to it. But say if you had a rifle and you were trying to get a headshot on someone close range while they were all moving about, could be just as hard as doing it from long range.

Healing is a bit challenging in the beginning of the game. I actually like it this way. It means you're not very powerful yet and you can't just go anywhere you want yet cause even a measly pack of Raiders can mow you down easily. If you saved Megaton though, you get a house there for free which you can sleep in. In your house you get a robot and he collects water over time and gives it to you periodically which is good for healing. Otherwise, save all your food and stimpacks when you find them.
And, did you guys play as a bad or good guy or a whatever guy? I wanted to help that guy blow up megaton but i didnt want to get rid of the stores there. Yeah like I said, it's worth saving Megaton just to have the decent stores and a home that's right there by the entrance. As much as I hate the people of Megaton...actually I hate most people in the game. Few characters in that game are actually likeable. It's one of the problems I had with F3, but don't let me sour you on the whole experience. You may not even realize it until you're done beating the game. Once you start encountering any character voiced by Ron Pearlman you're like, "Fuck ya'll!"
This is actually one of the things I think Bethesda failed to understand about the Fallout universe. Yes, people are more cynical. They are more skeptical, true. But there are still people who are friendly and hopeful toward the future. The tiny enclaves of government you find in the original Fallout games each kind of have their own culture and starting disposition toward you. And you can really sense that as you move along throughout the game. But in F3, people are just plain dicks. And it really makes you want to screw them over as much as you can. So yeah I ended up being bad in that game.
unfortunately i somehow got black sheriff killed by the the guy. so now i cant have any home <_<
i cant seem to beat anything stronger than regular raiders and i get my butt kicked vs a group of them, like in bethesda ruins. is there anyway to actually fight them or do i just need to run away?

Yeah that stealth armor you get after Operation Anchorage is pretty damn sweet. I kind of hated Mothership Zeta. I just....don't want aliens in my precious Fallout universe. There was a crashed alien ship somewhere in Fallout 2. But it was just an easter egg. It was never meant to be taken that far.
P.S. TIP 2: its sorta cheating, so you might wanna concider whether to do this or not.
Late in the game, with enough lockpick/computer hacking, i figured that the best way to hack/pick something was by saving the game... and then reattempting unsuccessfull action (ye it looks pretty obvious, but i thought of that realy late in to game). This struck me when failed hack decided, whether i go a safe way, or ill need to fight my way trough hordes of mutants
You don't even need to save before a hack attempt. If you're down to a single attempt before a lockout, you just exit the computer and then try again and everything resets. Same with the lockpicking. If your bobby pin is ready to break, just back out and try it again. The tumblers will be in a different position but it's better than breaking those precious bobby pins.
Hacking and lockpicking never got old for me in F3. It's to their credit that they could keep a mini game so entertaining throughout the game.
wow, were did you get all the lockpicks? i only have about maybe 15 or so. Didnt get how to do the lockpick game at first but its pretty easy once you know how. Good to know you can reset it so you dont break a lockpick.
Hey apples, that black sherrif i think hes suppost to die there. He died there for me too.
By the guy who wanted you to blow up megaton.
All i did was disarm the bomb in town. I think you only need 25-27 or so in i think bombs? or whatever that skill is to disarm bombs. oh explosives i thinks the skill name. Then after that go into the black sherrifs house its the house on the top right as soon as you enter megaton. Then talk to the sherrifs kid in there an he gives you the keys to the abandoned house in town for you. Also theres a +1 strength bobblehead on the sherrifs desk in his house.
Hey, i was doing that quest were you gotta get 600 radiation sickness. Anyways i saved when i got 600, then i went all the way to max an died? Somebody said you can turn into a ghoul if you get sick enough? is that just bullshit or what?
was trin turn myself into a ghoul. I think this game just gets easier, i already have tons of ammo an crappy shit to eat for healin, but i just sell all food now an keep the clean water/stimpacks to avoid rad.sickness. And 2k+ bottle caps since i never bought anything. Just helping that boy find his dad, which i did now gotta kill the fire ants boss i think next. but i think this is a good game.
Where are the best armors/weapons? Do i need to level up more to use good armor? im level 5 and a half now. In fallout1 there was power armor from the brotherhood to get. Well, anyways im just using whatever stuff i find its easy enough for now anyways.
In order to save the Sheriff, you have to be there when he confronts that guy. The two have a gun fight and Lucas Simms sucks apparently at that. So if you aren't there to kill the other guy then the sheriff dies.
No, you can't turn into a ghoul. Unless there's a mod for it (which there may easily be). Ghouls background stories if I'm not mistaken is that they actually got their radiation dose during the initial nuclear fallout that occurred before the mass exodus to the vaults. I need to check on that again though cause I'm not entirely positive.
Some of the best armor (with the exception of the stealth armor from Operation Anchorage) are the Enclave Hellfire sets. I personally like light armor though. I only wish they made more kinds of it. Eventually I'd cave in and go with the power armor. But for a long time throughout the game I think the recon light armor works just fine. Adds points to sneak as well. Basic power armor though can be found from dead Brotherhood members. You may have encounted the Outcasts as well. Their power armor is just as good as the Brotherhood's if I'm not mistaken. If you don't want to kill any of them to get it, sometimes it's worth just following them around when they are on patrol. If one gets killed, take all his shit. You need training though to wear the power armor which comes later in the game. So like I said, I'd stick the with recon armor or some other light armor in the meantime. But it's up to. There are heavy armors as well that aren't necessarily the power armors.
Eeeh, you're making me wanna play F3 again. But I think I need a few more months before I have another go at that game. I'm hoping when Deus Ex comes out in August that it will keep me busy for several months till Skyrim. Then Skyrim needs to keep me busy until D3.
I don't recall that being a possible outcome. I do recall you can get past a point where you no longer have the option to blow it up. But what did you do to make it so you can no longer disarm it?
Well, iam not sure what you did to fuck up the megaton house quest. Maybe you didnt except the helping disarm it quest from the sherrif before he died? Anyways, theres plenty of other places to sleep for free so i dont think you really even need that house there. I'd say go ahead an blow it up. well, not sure if you'd just blow yourself up or not tho.
These creeps are some ugly bastards in this game. huh fellors?
I just cleared out that part underground were you gotta kill all the fire ants, an i killed the ant queen also.
Large fucking ugly creep thing under there, even tho the crazy doctor only wanted me to kill the fire ants around it.
I handed in the quest an got the xtra reward for not harming the queen, but i then went back an killed her.
The underground parts look like horror games were you have fucking ugly creatures in the dark.
Sometimes i hate those parts, but i get used to it tho. I rather fight the ugly monsters on land rather then underground in the dark or underwater. oh, ehe. and i didnt know you can turn on the flashlight for the first couple hours there by holding down B. Didnt read the manual, like some wise man once told me. i think he said "readin video game manuals is for c**ksuckers". oh right that was my cousin that said that, but hes only 8. them boys sure do talk like sailors.
Would be nice if there was a proper flash light to shine it in the distance. All this one lights up is things right near you. Also some binoculars would be nice, and a motorbike or some shoes that make you run fast.
yeah thats it, i never told sheriff that i would disarm it, and i accidentally got too close to that pale guy at moriartys. the only option i have now is detonate - requires 50 in repair or something...
yeah, im using a bed at germantown police hq to sleep when i need it, which is often when i go near cities with large groups of raiders. i really need a nice weapon to tackle those guys and the robots, where can i get something stronger than assault rifles and shotguns?
i kinda like all the npcs, except the kids. the kids are annoying, that little simms caught me stealing and i couldnt even kill him to get the stuff back
