Anyone seen it yet??? I saw it last night in IMAX 3D, and it was probably the most impressive visual/audio experience I've ever been through. Cameron's close attention to minuscule detail, his vision of Pandora's wildlife and native population, as well as the explosive action sequences made for one of my favorite movies. Thoughts??
I agree with Turmobil. The movie just seems so cliche. I mean sure, the visuals are VERY impressive, but other than that it just looks like a waste of $10
I kind of wanna see it just so I can laugh at it and write about how shitty it (likely) is. Big budget special effects movies do nothing to impress me anymore. And quite frankly, those blue people look utterly ridiculous.
Well, my parents want to go see it tomorrow in IMAX... (is Digital 3D IMAX? I'm a bit confused with all the labels there, one page it says IMAX the other page it says Digital 3D).
They'll probably like it more than Star Trek, too. >_< But, hey, it's family time...
I hate all these over hyped movies..they're never half as good as people make them out to be. Examples would be 2012, Paranormal Activity, and such idiotic shit movies.
Sure, but then if you go see them without expecting anything they can be pretty good (obviously not including your examples... those just suck no matter what you're expecting).
I don't give enough of a crap about movies to be sucked into hypes about them anyway
It's impossible not to expect anything unless you don't know anything (and I mean anything) about the movie..not the trailer, not the story..nothing.
That was the case before I went to see 300. My brother's friend was like "this movie is awesome" and I'm asking what the fuck the movie is about anyway. Then I watched it, really liked it, and that was that.
I think the faults of the movie are those associated with the story-line, which is pretty unoriginal, and it is hard to take giant smurfs seriously. But all the hype and praise it is currently getting is due to its technical and visual appeal, and I think no matter how anti-conformist one can be, it would be hard not to admire it. Refusing to see it simply because its been over-hyped is pretty short-sighted, but that's just my opinion.
LOL I think it's really sad most of you are bashing on this movie have NOT seen it, but you feel like you seen the whole movie to base your opinion on. While most that HAVE seen the movie are all LOVING it!
So, whose opinion is MORE valid? Those that seen it, or those that haven't seen it?
Most people thought it was better than they expected, except for those who thought the movie was gonna be awesome anyway, but the movie did not disappoint them either. It's just as good as they expected, with some people reporting the movie exceeding their expectation after they already have HIGH expectation in the first place.
Which seems to be a trend with THIS movie everywhere.
What does that tell you? People tend to LOVE to prejudge stuff before they get to know/see them!
See it, then judge!
With 80%+ of critics raving about this movie, and you gamers dissing the movie (and Have NOT even seen the movie) is just not going to be taken seriously by any Serious movie fans!

Breath fanboi, breath. I can safely say that my prediction of every single movie that I've seen the trailer of, have been spot on. Every single time, all the time. There are a shitload of problems with every single movie being released nowadays, namely horror, and over-hyped movies such as 2012, Avatar, Twilight, and so on. While some movies are better than others (like Twilight, and I feel a terrible dagger stabbing me at the neck when I say this; and I won't elaborate much since it isn't the topic of this thread) most just fit my description. I am pretty honest when it comes to judging movies, meaning that if I said that it looks like a suckfest before I've seen it, but turns out to be otherwise after I've actually seen it, I would admit it. That, and unapologetically so, is never the case. It looks so visually awesome, that it looks like that's the only thing it has going for it. Unlike many idiotic judges of movies who get fascinated by all the glamor wrapping that the movie exhibits, I appreciate the sugar coating, but seriously judge it based on the layers underneath the facade. I will see the movie soon, and I'm sure I will present a lengthy post on how much it sucks, and how terrible current critics are. I mean, Interstate 60, when released, was miles and miles and MILES better than any cinematic release then, yet it didn't hit the big screen, and went straight to DVD. People are generally idiots, specifically people who judge movies for a living.
Critics have no life anyway... seriously, what kind of a job is it to criticize the work of others? That's the task of the viewers, readers, players, and nobody else. Critics just mess everything up with their supposedly "correct" analysis of stuff...
But, yeah, I rarely need to see a movie to actually know what's it going to be like. The only exceptions to this are weird movies that don't fall into the general plotline. Overhyped movies are never it.
