No this isnt about Sixens latest link to Force video with the lore spoiling.
This is about the FUTURE.
Allright, so I wanna hear (read) what you guys have to say about when Diablo 3 is released and spoilers appears in this forum, lets face it - its gonna happend by trolls!
How are you gonna tackle this issue if people are starting to make suggestions for example; trolling about the ENDGAME material and story in this forum?
Rules: Have title: "Spoiler" at least 6 months from the actuall release of the game, or what?
This has been talked about before here, but I don't see a problem with re-addressing this issue.
I think the fansite should expose everything it possibly can, and spoil everything if need be. It would be as if we all had beta in our hands. I don't see a problem with that.
Besides, the beta won't spoil much, according to Bash.
Well, when the game is released there really isn't anything to spoil, now is there? Maybe for people who haven't gotten it yet, yeah, but anything that is posted about after game release really isn't a spoiler.

Yeah, the ending of the game and so on.. Im gonna play like a maniac, but perhaps other people read something they wanted to find out for themself with no "spoiler alert" in the text. I don't know.
Restrain from reading this site lol. Srsly there should be some sticky that warns people about spoiling, if they do they'd get cut in half or something.

If you have srs bzns to conduct with me, better send a private message.
Even if someone posts a spoiler about the game after release on an area I haven't gotten to yet, I don't mind because then it gives me an incentive on getting there.

I'm pretty sure a lot of us won't be visiting this site much on release day unless we don't have the game, or we're busy installing/downloading the game. I mean, I for one will be playing the game nonstop until my eyes bleed, so I won't do much on here for at least 2 or 3 days.
Edit: Although I'm sure there will be some people who want tips and tricks on stuff, so they might come here to look for that, and who's to say we shouldn't provide such info? hmm?
Just because you don't doesn't mean you are the majority. I wouldn't want to come here to get tips on own to kill the first boss just to have the end boss spoiled with a topic "OMG X IS END BOSS!!"

You're right, I'm not the majority. But you can't keep people from discussing game play after the game is released. That is why there are forums like this.

There is just no way for this to be possible. There are just way too many issues concerning this.
1. What is considered a spoiler? - Is it just the ending to the game or any major lore points. How do we decide how much story can be given away without it being a spoiler. There are some members that don't want to know anything. There are others who say some smaller bits are fine as long as the major plots are not shown. Then there are some who think it is all ok except finding out how it all ends. The fact that this area is opinionated makes it impossible to make it a rule.
2. How long is the spoiler rule a rule? - Sure, at first, none of us know how the game plays out. But, soon after, we will all end up playing the game through from beginning to end. However, this will all happen at different rates for everyone. So, how do we decide when enough is enough. There will always be members that haven't finished the game yet even though the majority has. Do we wait a month, 6 months, a year before anyone can say anything about the lore. Do we say you never can as there will always be new members, new to the game and do not know the lore yet either. The fact that we will all eventually know this information makes it impossible to insert this as a rule permanently or temporarily.
3. The amount of work that would go into editing everyone's post that mentions "spoilers" would be ridiculous. Whether it is a rule or not, people, especially new or random members, will always be posting about this topic. There is just no avoiding that. Mods would have to work constantly just to determine whether posts were revealing too much or if it was ok.
Overall, there is just no way to avoid spoilers. My best suggestion is to use your own discretion when reading threads if this is something you do not want to know.

Any threads that deal specifically with D3 lore should be put into their own section. Threads that contain D3 lore information should have a tag in their titles. These instructions should be stickied. Expecting the mods to inspect every single post is unrealistic.
I have spoken
There is a section of the forums for lore. And it's right here.

I think perhaps we should remind people of how to use spoiler tags, not that it'll do much good. I swear to God though, if I see some post that's just like "Tyrael dies." as the title I'll polish up my banhammer. That's dickery.

and don't ban unless the person is trolling with spoilers.
I think it is already netiquette to add spoiler tags.
and what would you consider trolling spoilers : this is not a spoiler [insert actual spoiler]. Like that?
