I have decided to create a contest where we vote for the best idea of the use of the adventure system. In case you do not know, the adventure system is a system they are using to add random content to the static map. Specific sections of each area are designed to be replaceable by hundreds of different random events. Anything from a random chest to a dungeon can be used in these places. For example, you are walking through the Torajan Jungles when you encounter 10 zombies. The next time you play, a child is in danger and you have to save him form 5 fallen. If you have any questions please post them here as well.
Here is also the video where they explain it: http://d3db.com/media/video/view/7 @ 5:41 and 19:30 (p.s. look out for Phrozendragon at 28:50 ...Shout out!!)
Contest Rules/ How it works -
1. Submissions should be an idea on what will occur in a specific adventure area.
2. The submissions thread will be open for two weeks. After which the actual voting thread will be opened for two weeks.
3. Each user is only allowed to enter one idea. (This is to avoid one user having 30 ideas to vote on).
3. No duplicate ideas are allowed. The first person to post a particular idea will be put on the vote for it.
5. Be creative. There are literally hundreds of ways to use this system.
6. Be specific and detailed.
7. There are unfortunately no actual prizes other than the pride (ego boost) from people voting yours the best.

Sorry, clarified. People will be submitting examples for the adventure system. How the system works is pretty simple and already laid out. However, if the idea includes altering how the system works, that is allowed.

It's kind of stupid, but ever since they made the Reziarfg joke i've been waiting for him (keep in mind, they also made a april first joke about cows in D2). With these adventures zones, it just might happen.
It's self-explanatory, every 1000 years the beast is born again, bla bla bla... if we're going back to hell, then it does seem to be a nice random event(a very rare one, the same odds of a high end rune or more), you fight your way through the abyss(aka Reziarfg dungeon) and finally get a shot against him, a tough fight with significantly better drops, of course. Maybe a golden chest in the main chamber, a proof that you slayed it, whatever.
The problem: The Reziarfg event gonna have to be locked, no one can enter the game, besides the original 4man team. This is to prevent people from selling Reziarfg games.
Other than that, i think it might be a good challenge.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
You approach the lair of a lesser evil (after first time- suppose you wanna kill him/her again) and you find that he/she has been mercilessly gored by the Uber Unicorn.
Where this adventure appears: This adventure will "spawn" in areas under siege (possibily dreadlands) or inside dangeous. Any place were a human/demon struggle occur.
What is it about ?
You and your party walk into a group of 3 surrounded NPC's that are maintaining a important position in a small barricade tower. They ask for help and if you accept, they turn into your followers. This area is pretty much like the first part of Act 5 in D2 (a maze of broken wallks, doors and barricades). Then, really large waves of monsters start to come, attacking you and the tower.
Those NPCs, however, are very weak and they will stay on the tower shooting arrows. However they can help you by repairing the broken barricades and other objects, creating a enviormental advantage for you. You only have to comand then by clicking the broken object, then the NPC start to repair it (you can repair a number of object equal to the number of npcs alive). Note that when they are not in the tower, monsters will try to kill then, so you have to protect then until their work is done. Also note that sometimes there are more then one tower. You can move the npcs to another place if needed.
Each object takes a certain amount of time to be repaired.
Also, this adventure is a "archtype". The object, walls, towers locations and monster waves are randomized.
The objects:
+Doors: When closed, enemies will have to destroy it to pass, but you can open it.
+Walls: Broken walls can be repaired. Unlike doors players and monsters can't cross it.
+Pit traps: Enemies that pass though the pit trap falls and get locked underground. It will take a time until they break the pit door.
+Pyres: Those are massive statues that periodically breath fires, damagin enemies.
+Boulder Trap: After being repaired, you can achieve it in a leveler, tossing boulders on the passing enemies. You can repair it multiple times to reuse the boulders.
+Brigde: Those take alot to be repaired, but offer critical advantge when done. Bridges will always be located in situations were there are poor amount of objects to be used and you and the npcs have to quickly moves to another place, but the path is blocked by water or a gap.
+Fortain of Blood: Keeps pulling out health orbs for a certain period. WOW !
+Shrines: Repair shrines to get awesome party buffs !
There are many, many other object possibilities and ways to use enviorment ! Those are just a few examples.
The Strategy:
This adventure are supposed to be challenging. By challenge i mean a decent amount of strategy is needed, or else the monsters wave will kill you and the npcs.
So you have to be smart. For example, repair walls so the monster come from only way side, use slow/hold spells when enemies are in the pyre's range, take advantage of spells like fire bomb wich can be used even behind a barricade, move to another tower when you realise you can no more stand your actual position, etc...
Also the amount of npcs you use at once is important. Repairing many objects may give you more advantge, but also offers more risk since you have to protect multiple npcs at once.
Use the enviorment and your skills to creat massive combos to survive the insane monster attacks !
The Monsters
They also play a major influence in how you should build your strategy. For exemple, walls and doors may not be very usefull when you're fightning teleporting imps. Or a pitdoor may have no effect against floating attackers.
Champions will periodicaly lead a group of foes and bosses will spawn in the last wave.
Duration and Area
In my mind this adventure should last around 2 minutes. The monster waves keep coming during the whole time.
This adventure scenarium have a size of 1.5 avarage. Some advanced TOWER DEFENCES will have a larger area. Also, the differences of one tower defence and other can be drastical.
For example: one can start in a edge of a abyss, without any object around you except a brigde. So you have to command it's repairing while holding the line, until you cross the abyss and hold line in a saffer area.
Reward
The last boss wave will have a good drop rate. Also, every living npc will reward you with avarge-good drops and if every single npc survives, a huge drop bonus will trigger. However, survive this adventure is already difficult, scoring a "perfect" is for pros.
Hardcore and multiplayer balance:
You can scape from this adventure by cowardly running away by running away. Hardcore will surely want to keep a "safe exit".
In multiplayer the npcs will be stronger and maybe 1 or 2 extras ones will appear.

"In time the hissing of her sanity
Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days
Why would we really need to live?
Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth
