I think that diablo should follow in the steps of wow. only in the sense though of been mmo. not the cartoon and shit kinda plot sense. i think that you should have the choice to play by yourself or with alot of people. having like raid dungeons and stuff. constant updates for further progression and also the community atmosphere you get when your in vent talking to people or just in general chat. it makes the game alot more fun to always come bk to because there will always be something new.
and even if there was a little fee to pay. can u really put a price on the ultimate fun. also if they did make it an mmo give it a chance. look at the success of wow. you cant deny the popularity of it. and blizzard have always given you great games.
Nevermind, I remember. It was because they don't charge for Battle.net use. They only charge for WoW because it's an MMO. Since Diablo III is going to be on Battle.net 2.0 along with Starcraft II (which was announced to be free), it will be free, too. Just google "Diablo III free to play online" for more information.
Blizzard executive VP of game design, Rob Pardo, cleared up the comments while speaking with Joystiq. He made it clear that there's no plan to do anything akin to Hellgate: London and Blizzard is absolutely not trying to turn Diablo into a subscription-based game.
With Battle.net we're definitely looking at possible different features that we might be able to do for additional money. We're not talking about Hellgate or anything like that. We're not going to tack things on. I think World of Warcraft is a great example to look at. We charge people if they want to switch servers or if they want name changes, things that aren't core to the game experience, they're really just optional things that some people want. It takes us some development work to do it, so it makes sense to charge for it. We would never do something like say to get the full game experience, you'll have to pay extra.

now for the real fans, everyone knows that u will pay even if u dont want to cause diablo is the shit
They said current plans are to absolutely keep D3 free to play. With some features that will cost money. Such as things like sex change, name change, realm change. Microtransactions for certain features I think is the term they used.

is it 8 players a party or 8 players a realm/server. and basically im new to diablo, i always played wow. i dont understand how the battle. net works. could someone explain how it will work for diablo 3 in comparison to say WOW. like how the world will work. dungeons or no dungeons (raids), parties, trading.
well, I think it will have a lots of dungeons that you can run with your friends, but they said that multiplayer will be only 4 players max.
but hey, maybe they will change it

Its hard to explain... in DII you create a game on Battlenet and up to 7 other people can join your game. The game you create is just like entering single player, except other people can join too. Don't think it sounds boring with only a few people in one game though, because everyone tends to stick together to complete the same quests or kill the same bosses (eg. Baal runs). I'm not sure what this 'instanced dungeon' thing is or what 'raids' are, but I think its a similar thing except the whole game world is open to you.
As many games as you want can be created on each realm/server (US West, US East, Europe, or Asia), but games disappear if noone's occupying them.
When you're not in a game, you can hang out on the chat channels if you want.
Trading can only happen in-game, so people usually name their games with what they want to buy or sell (ie. SoJ 4 Pgem). Or you can use the chat channels to find someone who is willing to trade, then tell them which game to join.
BUT we don't know how it will work in DIII yet. They said it will be much better than that, they weren't completely happy with how it worked in DII.
so basically i create a game and work on my character. people can join whenever they want. but ive seen that sometimes when i enter another persons game it says i cant do those quests and stuff. whats up with that. it doesnt seem to open.
obviously any number entry into any of blizzards franchises will almost certainly follow in the footsteps of there predecessors. SC, WC, Diablo will al be like past games a fair bit.....now when we get an offshoot of the series....then we might end up with a sc or a diablo mmo...like worlld or warcraft

1) Diablo III is not an MMO.
2) They already said it would be F2P.
