explosions are being caused by the monsters. They wouldn't posses a 20% dmg increase from Glass Cannon, or 40% dmg increase from Familiar-Crimson like you, the wizard, do. Unless the adjacent monsters in a Slow Time-Crimson bubble or are Frozen-Crimson, they won't take any more damage than is labeled there : 153-177.
That's getting a little nit picky on wordings. I would assume that they would be fully affected by modifiers. That base number certainly will be from your attack stat. I read it as "there's a chance when enemies die to set off a small explosion at their location".
I hope you're right! It would be pretty badass to have 60% dmg increase (Fam-Crim & Gl.Can) on each of those explosions.
As noted in OP, my channel skill is exclusively for single targets. Disintegrate, with any rune, or passive, will not deal as much damage to a single target as Ray of Frost will.
I think your argument should be comparing your Disintegrate-Alabaster to my ArcOrb-Crimson. We're both using those for multiple enemies.
I don't think that purple thing is arcane torrent man, I think that is SEEKER Magic Missile !
Their both purple... I don't know for sure.
You're killing me. 35 seconds is Magic Missile.
1). Is the spell at 50 seconds channeled?
2). Is it purple? (indicates Arcane damage)
Now, I think you'll agree it's not Disintegrate. So, using the power of deduction (not to mention the appearance of the Arcane Torrent tooltip), what is the only spell this could be?
The purple thing IS Arcane Torrent, it is a channeled cast and drains AP per sec.
Hello Babycake, welcome to the Wizard section of the forums. Meet Electric who absolutely refuses to believe anything anyone else says, but who's always right.
He'll give you the build you'll be playing at some point.
Hey I was right about Energy armor and the lower ap usage, and so much more, don't blame me for using Diablo Wiki and a youtube video labeled Arcane Torrent....
People will be using disintegrate, ray of frost, diamond skin and all that other stuff so don't act like it isn't going to happen......
Hey I was right about Energy armor and the lower ap usage, and so much more, don't blame me for using Diablo Wiki and a youtube video labeled Arcane Torrent....
If only that's all I was talking about. I think the worst part about the whole thing is that you don't even realize it.
You think people going to be casting energy twister later in game ? Stop being a jerk. You know good and well there isn't a picture of seeker MM and that stuff was labeled Arcane turrent.

You're still going on about that? I'm not holding Arcane Torrent against you, although the fact you could even think it was seeker MM baffles me. I never said there was a shot of seeker MM, but there is a shot of indigo MM and it's on all the beta streams. MM doesn't hit the ground. Isn't channeled.
I've never stated an opinion on Energy Twister ever. I know that Blizzard has said they want all spells to be viable and thus trust that the spell will either work fine or be adjusted. Theory crafting is Theory crafting, not a place where you flat out reject something as trash because you personally think it's stupid.
For someone who goes into every build thread and proceeds to tell the OP that their build sucks damage wise compared to yours (which you then link) you have a lot of nerve calling me the jerk.
Would you guys advise switching out Frost Nova-Crimson with Slow Time-Crimson?
Instead of 110% dmg increase, I'll get 140% dmg increase.
I'll lose the freeze effect from Fr.Nova, but slow time will slow them AND any missiles..thoughts?
Yah, sorry to contribute to the derailment of your thread.
IMO I lean towards no (keeping nova). Frost Nova provides great control and I think can really save you if things suddenly take a turn downhill. Maybe Slow Time for the earlier difficulties and Nova for the later? I think this is one question you're really going to have to play test to determine, the spells are different enough it's hard to guess.
I had an explanation for everything I put forth and I have no doubt, Ray of Frost, Disintegrate, Slow time and the spells I mentioned that are good will be seen often. Based on the damage it does compared to every other spell and the ap cost yes you can reject it I haven't seen a single person with an energy twister build yet....
I haven't seen a single image, of seeker missiles with the words under it and if you do a search I don't think you will either ! So don't act like everybody should know that.
You can have fun being a jerk with yourself.....
You know I did DK, but Slow Time only lasts 10 seconds and has high cooldown. Frost nova doesn't have that.

Yea, I was thinking that. I appreciate it.
Concerning that video, perhaps that one of what looked like several meteors hitting a doorway, maybe that was Meteor-Indigo?
Did you say that? Was that point? Sorry if it was, I got lost the last couple of posts. Regardless, I got all this cool data and stuff, so Id be more than happy to crunch some numbers for you if I can for a build of yours

Alright, last post from me on this.
I have no doubt that every single spell available to the wizard will be seen often. Your opinion of the best spells is great, but stop trying to force it on others.
This is the Wizard section of the forums. Maybe I shouldn't, but I assume that everyone here has been watching Beta footage. Magic Missile is used a lot. It's very distinctive. Confusing it with Arcane Torrent, to me, is unimaginable.
If I'm being a jerk to you, it's because I've gotten tired of your posts like the trash thread and how you pop into other people's build threads and instead of posting constructive criticism, you pretty much just tell them that their build is worthless and that your's is better. It's disrespectful. And you know I'm far from the only person in this section of the forums that has an issue with you.

Yah, that's what I was thinking, but now it seems like it might just be an older version of Torrent. I'm unsure.
The problem there is that there's so many awesome builds I couldn't even really give you my favorite to run numbers on. Especially since most of them use spells like Blizzard, Meteor, and Hydra coupled with Crimson Mirror Image.
I do appreciate the offer though, I'll get back to you if I come up with something.
Indigo Meteor is not better than Crimson. Indigo does that damage per target hit not in an AoE. The Crimson Meteor does that damage in an AoE.
Also, your math does not include the fire damage over time. You have to realise that burn damage will be amplified not only by the 60% but also by your gear. This eventually puts Meter well above Arcane Orb.

I was waiting for someone to fact-check me.
Meteor - Crimson - with 60% dmg increase from Glass Cannon+Familiar-Crimson.
On strike, it deals 888 damage.
Then deals 125.6 Fire dmg (also receives 60% dmg increase) over 3 seconds. 125.6 X 3 = 376.8 Fire damage total over 3 seconds.
In total, from the initial hit to the 3 second burn, Meteor-Crimson does 1264.8 damage total over 3 second period, with the biggest chunk of damage from the initial impact.
Yes, it does include 60% damage increase to both initial impact and 3 second burn. My math is untouchable.
Once again, I can cast Arcane Orb 3 times in ~3sec to do 1686 damage, and it costs me the same AP, and its not as clumsy, or reliant on good timing and aiming. While the damage is within 10 yards, I cannot comment on yardage comparisons until I find out how big the Meteor damage area will be.
I never said Meteor-Indigo is better than Crimson. Read it again. I made note of the fact Meteor-Indigo was a per/target hit, and not an AoE.
"...Then it isn't an AoE skill. It hits a target. Thats definitely is hands down, the most damaging single hit skill out there."
Right, first off without it to test we have no idea how it works. Anyways I'll run you through my logic on this:
1). I think we both agree that base, un-runed Meteor hits a circle area and does it's initial damage to everything in that area (an AoE spell). It then leaves a 3 second wall of fire effect in that area.
2). The description of Indigo reads "Unleash a volley of 14 smaller meteors that strike for 139 - 185 Fire damage." So instead of dropping one meteor, you're pretty much dropping 14 instead. There's likely no burn effect and there doesn't need to be.
3). The spell is still an AoE. It's going to hit the exact same area, just multiple times.
Basically you claim "Indigo does that damage per target hit" which just makes no sense whatsoever. Instead of 1 meteor, you drop 14. Nowhere does it state that each mini meteor can only hit one target or anything like that. Every Meteor rune is an AoE, the base spell is an AoE, why would the Indigo rune alone NOT be an AoE???
The trade off between Crimson and Indigo is that Crimson does all of it's damage in one blast and leaves a fire patch. Indigo, ASSUMING ALL 14 HIT, will do more damage.
Also, something that could be a wording issue, the description of the aftereffect burn says x - x damage OVER 3 seconds, not per second for 3 seconds. There's a huge difference. (It means your math is wrong DKR).
Crimson - 469 - 641 initial damage, 63 - 94 damage over the next 3 seconds. That's a total of 532 - 735 BASE damage.
Indigo - 139 - 189 initial damage times 14 meteors = 1,946 - 2,646 BASE damage. (Assuming all 14 hit)
Pretty obvious which is doing more damage right? Even if you only hit with half of the 14 meteors you still do 973 - 1,323 BASE damage, more than Crimson.

My point is that it's NOT Arcane Torrent!!!! Fine, I'll link it for you since you seem to not know what it looks like:
Jump to 50 seconds.
