Hey guys, today I go over the changes coming to the Vyr's set, along with a quick preview of it in action in Season 4. There will be additional content covering itemization, playstyle, and considerations since it's a fairly complex build. It's a lot of fun, but definitely not a lazy spec and from my testing thus far, will only be good in Season 4 due to the belt. Enjoy & discuss!
@Marnok - stay tuned, but there's a much better setup that what you're rolling, I will be showing it soon.
I don't think 400 stacks even is achievable. Maybe in group in a GG rift ... once.
Stacks are separate, but do overlap if you're cubing Swami. I've had up to ~300 total stacks between both, but of course one runs out pretty soon after you pop back in.
Highest sheet I've seen without any shrines/pylons so far is about 60m dps, 120m toughness .. but only briefly.
as i commented on the youtube video, hydra will be a mainstay of any archon based build after the revamp, due to how AS affects hydra now and just how ridiculous you can get the AS bonus since they made it a baseline set bonus instead of the belt exclusive, with the belt being changed to how it is currently, i can see it being used in the cube, find a GG swami and use RORG in the cube, in order to have both effects active and being able to use something like witching hour or string of ears for even more attack/defense as needs be.

I'm not sure, as you'd have to give up a dps slot to fit in Hydra. Seems like Blizzard may be resetting cooldown faster than other spells for some reason. Damage in Archon > damage outside by a landslide, so why spend any more time than necessary out of Archon?

even with evocation passive+diamond in helm you will still need a good amount of CDR on other slots that can roll it (like gloves/shoulders) where you will have to give up on a defensive stat to get it, which on higher Grift tiers (thinking primarily for solo play here) is getting harder and harder to justify, so you will be spending a good 20-30 seconds minimum outside archon form anyway, and in that time window, using a serpent sparker in cube you can get 4 hydra's worth of damage out in the downtime between archon cooldowns, and when i was testing pre ptr patch wipe, my hydra ticks were in the region of 120M on crits, and with the absolutely insane attack speed, i could barely see one number end and the next beginning, my highest attack speed at one point was 164% so yeah, hydra, at least i feel, is going to be a huge thing for when archon is dropped, obviously while in arhon form it doesn't matter, but i am just going off what i have tested so far, things may change with the revamp to belt/set bonus and whatnot, so will just have to see how things go, but yeah, trying to make archon permanent is going to be the main thing.
Question regarding a certain weapon for potential Cube extraction. Since alot of damage for the archon comes from up in your face fighting... Just wanted to know the potential of the Scourge. How does it work exactly? Says 2000% weapon dmg... I know that i've seen some people hit 30million sheet dps with Archon stacks - does the scourge use your sheet dps when it procs? If so, i could potentially see some extreme damage with this in the cube over the furnace

Scourge has an internal cooldown, not that great. I think we'll be seeing either Furnace or Serpent Sparker cubed at this point. Maybe even Thunderfury for extra damage, since I don't believe it has an internal cooldown.

Thunderfury does way more dps than Scourge because of the no ICD. Furnace is a good option, but im 99% certain TF actually gives more dps than Furnace on even elites/bosses.

Have you tested? What are the highest numbers you've seen on TF?
maybe even shard of hate sine that had the "proc" coefficient removed in 2.1.2, so it is now viable as a cube power to use along side whatever weapon you are using, however it does limit you to using cold/lightning as your highest element type on bracers/weapon slot etc.

900-1.2b on TF. Though as Rogoth might be right that Shard of Hate might be better I just haven't messed with wiz after the recent wipe(which all that changed was chantodo got fixed to not fall off due to gay things).
IMO, The Furnace still beat other options since wiz main damage will rely on Chantdo proc(7000%) but lightning shard of hate + disintegration wave also do tons of damage.
UPDATE : I just test SoH out with blizzard & disintegration wave. It seem to be bugged with blizzard that every tick from blizzard will spawn an ice ball which is pretty crazy damage when I'm off archon(30m crit and it shoot out like a line of ice). Lightning part also crazy with disintegration wave.
SoH may still be good, but it does have an ICD (I believe 1/3 second? so above 3aps it's capped?)
as far as i am aware, it has no ICD, and no "proc" requirement, it goes off every time you cast something, so with the sheer amount of attack speed being gained through the set bonus, it is possible to chain cast the "proc" effect (which imho should be reworded since it was changed from a proc power to an on cast power) and come away with some rather epic damage numbers from the power affix alone on shard of hate.
May be a stupid question, but... What about Odyn's Son? Has it got an ICD that makes it less effective?
As far as I know it can hit a single target with all 3 attacks without having to get close.
Odyn has an ICD from what I remember, otherwise yes it's very strong.
that post you linked is from when SoH was changed originally back when RoS launched, they have changed it since back in janurary this year (can't find the post about it right now though), so i assumed they had changed how it works internally also, however as i mentioned, it was only as far as i was aware, if i am wrong then fair enough, but it needs fully testing and checking out.

Too bad then, it would have been a good weapon.
About Wizardspike for a frost damage build? All the threads I find on this item are either outdated or give contraddictory info on its ICD.
Very long ICD to the point that mad monarch scepter can out damage that proc

It still has an ICD. Although I've read 1/3 second or so, I haven't verified myself, but I can say that it DOES have an ICD of some sort. You can get really high aps and check for reference if curious.

SoH has an ICD last I heard and the cold orb doesn't do much, so you want to go lightning, but TF doesn't have an ICD so it's a better choice (and it'll proc BotT at range and always hit).

Yea, the belt is now a bit less mandatory. A BIT. It's still mandatory though.
Think about it ... with Swami cubed, the belt gives you:
50% attack speed. 50% armor. 50% AR. ALL THE TIME (after you pop Archon the very first time).
It's still the same. Vyr's no longer completely obsolete outside of S4, but still can't come close.
