Honestly, they could keep the old bonus AND the new bonus, and I still don't think it will get used that much. I think if they really wanted to push the idea of a new kind of playing style for defensive DHs, they'd introduce another small set that would make melee combat viable.
It kills me that M6 is the go-to set for DH's. How the heck is having your pets do all the damage while you run and hide fit with the established lore for the demon hunter? Right now, the "shooting" set (Natalya's) is still woefully underpowered in comparison.
Until they can do something on part with Mara6, nothing is worth using until we're talking season characters that start naked, hence verything is an upgrade, at least at the beginning.
Previous implementation was good in an HC pov - that much survivability could have been of some use. Still Mara6 trumps easily over it in any case and people will just aim to that.
A vengeance set would be cool. Though i just think that Mara6 has a so great synergy that creating a competitor will be hard, until you just stack a ton of damage on one/more abilities.

It is really tough to beat. No single DH can match the sheer volume of 2 (or more) sentries blasting away. Not to mention, you can't kill the sentries, and oh yea, the 4pc bonus of all the companions for added damage/toughness/tanking as the cherry on top.
Sure, the sentries can't move, but neither do we when we're shooting (unless we're strafing).
They should change the whole set to focus on vengeance. Reduce the cool down with 1 tier, add something cool for last tier. Classes need sets that buff a major skill so then people can design builds around it. A defensive skill - Shadow Power is not this. It is, a skill that should be chosen in choice for the defensive needs that fit your build design. The skill needed a buff, which it did get, but it's not going to boost damage, which is pretty much what every most used build is based around.
I'd appreciate this very much. given it's the "new" skill for DHs in ROS, it's little used in most viable builds. Blackhole and Piranhas are in a good place. Avalanche is ok. Epiphany can't say coz monks can't get straight. Vengeance is like wut.
I think it's very difficult to compete with M6 because it's just that good but a vengeance set being a little bit competitive with it wouldn't hurt at all. It would probably be even less boring to use than placing sentries and running around like a headless chicken.

Vengeance is pretty good by itself, and it was wideliy used when people were still gearing up and actually Mara6 was crap and no one simply was going after it
Blizzard buffed the set to a point it wins over anything, and 2.1 with the spender fix will make it even stronger if anything.
If they wanna make this a fun build they are going to make the useless shadow power thing a 2pc bonus and make the 4pc something like reduces cooldowns by 1 sec for each enemy killled/assisted. Like the wd's grave injustice. This would open up strafe/vengence builds that would compete with m6.

how about " enemies killed beyond 30 yards reduce skill cooldowns by 1 second " and prolly add a little hatred regen?
Interesting twist, maybe pick up radius could reduce the yard requirement like grave injustice boosts it. For strafe/vengence you wanna be close, but not too close.
