I would like an easy, solid hardcore build. Killing speed isn't important, but health and damage are. Any suggestions for an easy to build hardcore character that is built from scratch?

the easiest I can think of is the skelemancer which is cheap and efficient.
This is what most people go for when starting from scratch on hardcore....personally I dont like how they suck balls in hell so I always go for a good sorc with ES for tanking a bit of damage...Ive heard a few ppl say that hammerdins even without godly gear are pretty nice in hardcore but I cant speak from my own experiences on that
This summer I made an assassin on USEast ladder softcore. She only died once before uber tristram (which I attempted rather prematurely because I didn't care that much about death since it was softcore) and that one death was because someone else's epic fail (I think I went through a TP which was called "safe" when really it was in the middle of like the entire chaos sanctuary population rolled into one mob + lag)... If you want more information let me know and I can forward you some information (didn't want to fill up the whole thread with an assassin build if you didn't want to play as one). Oh, and I mostly used traps and let my merc do the dying when someone had to do it.

On hardcore I personally prefer to roll a hammerdin. They are very straightforward. Google an hdin build. Look at the skills you will max. Each level you gain put a bit in dex to keep block high(50% or higher preferably). There will be times when you have skills just waiting for levels but that is the same with any build that isn't a total fuckup. I always max hammers a bit later than most people. My justification for this? If you pump hammers up too soon you'll throw 5 and be out of mana. Boost the passives/synergizing skills first. It adds a bit of damage but keeps the mana cost low so you can throw more. Never sacrifice resists for better MF gear. You'll find what you need in the long run. So... points to drive home. Keep block high, resists>mf, least strength as possible, max life as possible, don't rush into the unknown. Slow and steady wins the race.
I've beaten hardcore untwinked numerous times and although a skelemancer is probably the safest bet it is just so damn slow and hell difficulty is so so so much slower that you could roll 3 hdins in the time it takes to do with a skele.
I hope this helps.
