Just purchased this game after hearing the great news of diablo 3 coming out sometime next year. However once i created my battle.net character i now notice that it says my character will expire in 10 days?
Its been like that for a while. But they do it to prevent names from being held by non-active players. So if your character hasn't been played 1 every 10 days, then it'll get deleted. However once you play that character for over 2 hours, then you only need to play it once every 99 days to keep it from being deleted.

gotcha that explains alot - can see the reason for it - a lot of spam on d2

Are you sure that's how it works? I thought if you played up to a certain amount of hours on that character, then it will stop putting a max time on it for expiration and the character then stays permanently where it is (with the exception of a new ladder season).
