If you knew ANYTHING about server-based games you'd know exactly why any form of people AFK farming and botting is a bad thing for everyone.
If you played D2 on battle.net you'd know exactly why it's a bad thing.
Just because everything is BoA doesn't mean the game exists in a bubble. That kind of naive thinking is amazingly harmful to the game. There are aspects of the game that effect everyone's ability to play, and enjoy, the game beyond the actual items and the lack of an economy.
Quote from Varitok» I think people quoting the EULA should learn what an exploit is, this really isnt an exploit, He's using firewalkers in a strategic way.
Yeah, OK bud.
Clearly the game is meant to be played by an active human being. Therefore, any form of "strategic use" of anything that allows you to play without actually being at the keyboard is clearly abusive and exploitative behavior.
The idea that someone should be allowed to get XP or items without actually playing the game (sorry, if you're AFK then you're not playing the game... you're mowing the lawn, or sleeping, or whatever) is laughable. The fact that someone would defend that as a legitimate way of farming, however, is truly pathetic.
I have to agree that as outline this is clearly an exploit however what if this is actually working as intended? I mean these exploits keep popping up so either Blizzard is employing a highly incompetent team of devs and testers or this was purposely programmed to function this way.

I played alot of D2, you still cant tell me how it affects the game, instead you just say its harmful instead of actually telling me how, I look at these botting videos and in no way do they affect my ability to play, how can it? seriously its not like im required to AFK farm, its not like its an MMO where i have to gear up to get into raids. There is no point in arguing, we are on completely seperate ends of the spectrum, I just think this game is getting ruined, they constantly nerf and patch little ways of getting exp and gear and thus make it feel like im playing WoW especially with all this BoA, the games gonna be barely played in two months, just like vanlilla

Preventing these is harder than you think. Don't forget that players outnumber testers 1000:1. The fact that the game is relatively stable means they did hire testers. Otherwise, it would be like Ashes Cricket 2013.

The servers have a capacity. If more people afk or bot, then more games will open for longer times, and you will get queues if you try to open a game or get lag if you are in the game. Which is what happened in Diablo 2. People bot, dupe ect. and each took toll on servers which created lag for everyone. And this is why afk farming and botting is harmful for everyone.
Actually in this case it's not hard to fix or prevent from occurring in the first place, any event or mob that spawns other mobs should have had a timer associated with it from the beginning that basically would say after x amount of time mobs stop spawning or after x amount of time mobs spawned no longer grant xp or drop items, hell I'm a first year computer science major and you learn that type of concept first semester.....
Who cares about getting banned when the account wa leveled and geared up by afking? Lmfao
What the fuck?
What the hell would the point be then? Spending $60 every other week for a new account just to watch it burn to ashes?
You're assuming a few things here, first that the account owner has not got 60 dollars worth of enjoyment out of the game so far, second that the account owner upon being banned would purchase another account and third that the account owner views 60 dollars as a sizeable amount of money.

More like months or even years. People who have botted for more than a year 24/7 are still not getting banned.
How do you know this? Honest question.
Sounds to me like you're just under the impression that botters don't get banned, despite the numerous ban waves that are posted. To say that your quote above is anecdotal would be kind.
This may sound strange, but I actually hate these AFK leveling/exploit-ish things too. I make these videos, thoroughly explain how it works, some people take advantage of it, most probably don't and it gets nerfed quickly. It's kind of a win-win for everyone in my eyes.
I'd like to add; People that stream exploits may seem to be hurting the game initially.. However, these fellas act as the absolute best [FREE] quality control testers that Blizzard could ever hope to hire.
In the long run, fellas like the OP are helping the game (while hurting themselves)

realy i cant believe people are still that stupid or uninformed about that. This is NOT an exploit at all, do you even know what is an exploit? There is no bug here thus there is no exploit, period. No one will get banned for afk farming like this, well they might if they use macro, since it a third party programme, but blocking( with ducktape or what ever) a keyboard key or mouse is permited. If you dont like the rule of blizzard stop playing their game and stop fucking complaining about people who found cleaver way to maximise their level. They are not ruining your game experience, be a bit more realistic here, they are in their private game doing that alone or with friend who want to do that too, that have zero impact on you, except jealousy oftcourse.
Now that being say, is it fair? well knowing blizzard, no and they will fix those rat spawner soon. Simply because it's too effective without effort.
edit : Blue have allready state about afk farming in the past, im trying to find it, might stop those dumb people to say it is against tos or eula. As long as you do not use any third party programm, it is perfectly "legal".
(yes my english suck, prety sure not everyone know perfectly their second language.)
While we're on the subject, Square really needs to patch the Lete River exploit in FFVI. I mean, it just boils my blood to know that others are gaining levels faster than I am by abusing game mechanics! Sure, I never interact with these people in any meaningful way, but.... reasons.

Exactly what I was saying. Not gonna outright thank you for teaching exploits, but a tip 'o' the hat for making Blizzard aware of this.

The fuck does that have to do with anything?
Umm.... It addressed your statement?
How much $60 means to an individual wasn't the point.
How much monetary value the entertainment dollar one spends garners said person, wasn't the point.
The point was; To put yourself in jeopardy of losing your account so you can fill it with items like an engorged exploit tick......well that would be akin to chasing your tail.

Your English isn't the only thing sucking here. Your grasp of vocabulary is quite fleeting.

We're talking to a brick wall of sorts.
lol @ "strategically cheating".
Hey, I had to use a great deal of strategy to break into my neighbors house. It wasn't easy, but I did it.
I don't see why people care that much? Hes showing you an ''exploit'' use it or don't what does it matter? How does someone doing this affect you? Blizzard will fix it, and then you can sleepy soundly at night again. At the end of the day, his video like all the others that people have posted bring the necessary attention to problems such as that..and their fixed.

Well you're right if you exclude the fact you're probably not going to be banned.
