I dunno. I don't really appreciate the animator anymore. Everything he does has that exact same stamp, and it didn't really fit here. I'm impressed by people who can do something well, then adapt and do something else well. Not one-trick horses.
I mean the massive crystal-head with single sideways-purple eye slowly rising while that one noise pshooshooshoooooooo goes off, and I'm like, this is great and all, but if I wanted to watch Evangelion it's right there on my hard drive. Also didn't like the way each angel looks so dramatically different when in the game they're a lot less unique and I think that's an identifying part of western art style, consistency. Japanese art style just goes batshit, we like to have a solid canon... The whole thing just felt like "how can I make this into an anime"; and it kinda feels weak to see that because it's like, okay, we get it, you don't appreciate western art. I guess I'll go watch the intro cinematic again.
Also, Imperius is the betrayer. Could they make it more obvious?
So... when does this actually take place in the diablo time line ? And where does it take place ? Bastion Keep ?
It takes place before Sanctuary was created. I'm not sure exactly what point in time. ("Long before the creation of Sanctuary, the Eternal Conflict between angels and demons raged on for untold millennia.") There are some videos on YouTube that cover the lore of Diablo, including events that happened long, long, long before the first game. Watching them might help, I haven't watched them in a while though.
I don't get all the unlock jargon.... is this a spoiler for the game? if so i don't want to watch!
the only real spoiler is right at the end when impurious and diablo fight alone u kinda get an idea that valor shall turn to wrath...if you read the book of cain or anything else about D3 lore you pretty much already kno everyhting this video just kinda confirms it
I felt the Wrath short was pretty meh. I don't think that animation style is suited for the Diablo universe. Whatever happened to Samwise who did the sketches for the Warcraft game manuals? Even Metzen had decent art that I've come to associate with the Blizzard world. The dialogue was comic-booky and lame. The video did nothing for me in terms of fleshing out any of the Archangels' character aside from Imperius. So he's Anakin Skywalker with wings, how deep.
If you've read the Book of Cain, this short offered nothing more than someone else's visualization of the implied schism in the Archangel hierarchy.
