The new skill system is pretty awesome. The first time I saw it I knew it fit. Of course I'll look like a fool if we change it again, but I think we found something that fits the game really well. It's actually not too far off from the tiered approach we had shown before, but a few important differences really make it something different and awesome.
From the one and only bash. Some "important differences" from previous skill tree's we have seen. Who knows what it could be. He also mentioned it wasn't far off from a "tiered approach".
It's nice to see there doing something interesting with the skill pages though. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't intrigued.
i hope there will be more variety in the skills we regularly use in battle rather than the many d2 builds based on 1 key spell ( bliz sorc, fb sorc etc)
Hmm... I could be very happy if I give any credit to what Bashiok says.
Anyway, imo there is 2 parts of D3 that i think they are having tons of difficulty. Those two parts are the high end and the skill system. The high end part were commented by a D3 team member in a german site interview.
And i think they're having trouble with skill system because every news we have about it involves changes in it. Looks like they are never satysfied. Until now... (i hope).
I think the last version of skill system we saw was a bit too bland and not inovative. Just put all skill trees together and put some tier restriction and thats it. I was nothing impressed.. even i could creat something better rofl.
I hope those changes are big enough.
If it is similar to a tiered approach I am hoping for something nice like maybe when you get to Stony field you get these two skills and every so often you'll unlock a new skill based on your progression instead of just the same old level system. MY take on it but most likely still a tier with restrictions and a much easier tier system where you dont need the ones before to upgrade the ones past because think about you'd have to up the first 7 skills and then you wouldnt be able to get the other 14 cause you already chose your first 7 active skills.

I wonder what they'll do with the skill system... it will have a major impact on the game, no doubt.
