Actually I'm thinking once we get to play the game all of this stuff we see flying over the screen in gameplay videos now that we can't really make sense of we will then recognise as certain skills. It's like people that can't read only see a bunch of characters all over the place, but once you learn the words you only see those, you don't really notice the characters anymore. That's why I don't think the skill effects will be as messy as we think they'll be.
Yes, this. I remember watching 4-player videos of SSBB before it was released and thinking "Wow, this guys are awesome, how do they understand what's going on? This is total chaos!". After playing and understanding it (and becoming the best player there is), I rewatched those videos and it was like "Meh... how come I got better than the official game testers? C'MON, anyone can evade the dragoon!"
So if you are familiarized with what's going on, it won't be that chaotic, I think.
