Yep. Thats why there was such a huge division at Blizz hq, thats why they started three times from scratch and thats why Jay keeps freaking talking about it in each and every interview. "small minority" allright, makes sense.
It does? Oh wait, you mean that "you need to be able to tell everything apart in a split second" dumb shit of an excuse? lolzorz.
Eh? It isn't supposed to look gritty but you will change it anyways, because....? Is this all just a way to not look like losing face or something?
blahblah.
When will Jay starts treating the fanbase with some little respect instead of treating them as if they are morons with a 50 IQ. (wich many aswell be, lets hope "its the minority", right. RITE?)
There was some good info in there. Good point about the fact he kind of caught himself when asked about a playable demo at BlizzCon lol!
Also, I think it's cool they agreed with a few of the points about the art direction like the corpses and going back to add more dirt/blood/whatever to some of the environments themselves. Mission accomplished!
Thank for the notes. I absolutely hate having to watch videos instead of being able to just skim an article for what Im looking for.
Hmm... some good news in there it sounds.
agreed.
HAHA, agreeing with an uninformed post:rolleyes:, you didn't even bother watching the vid did you? If you would have, you would know why, exactly, they went with a brighter environment.

I am more interested in how the finalized inventory is going to look like. I am hoping for something similar to BG. I will be disappointed if they go back to the grid system, but from the sound of it, it doesn't look like they will.

wow, you have the ability for at least simple deduction, congratulations.
btw, theyve already given us their excuse for brightening the game, thats nothing new. Its a crap reason then, its a crap reason now. Sounds like bullshit to me.

So your reasoning for this excuse not qualifying as a good excuse is because your judgement, from a 20 min scripted gameplay video, is greater than that of a team of game designers who MADE the game, and have experienced it both ways?
If you seriously think you know more about how the game works than a bunch of successful professionals who MADE this very game and have seen more of it than anyone will until it is completed.... Then you are severely deluded.

Clearly you are biased towards your artistic views because if you heard anything he said then you would know he is treating the fan base with great respect.... the fact they are actually darkening area's and making them more grittier at all, leaving the corpses around longer etc...
Maybe you could post some constructive arguments, or voice un biased, educated opinions...? but then I suspect that's too much to expect from the average forum poster.

Also, what's up with the terrible english from that german dude?
Haha... I have to admit it did bring a smile to my face... especially when he slipped German words into otherwise English sentences. As a semi German speaker myself I know how he feels and how that works >.<
But l they are in Germany... he is from a german gaming magazine, obviously German is his main language, and tbh I'm surprised they did the interview in English at all. Expecting the interview to be in full, perfect English under those circumstances would be a bit ignorant.

I'll make another simple deduction, you're an ass.:D
So... Not being able to see the things you are supposed to kill isn't enough reason to brighten the game?
is it true that we will not se ANY shiny hard metal looking items?
no swords will look like shiny metal?
no armor will be hard metal looking?
everything is dull soft handpainted?
Depends on if they put different materials/shaders on items and the environment before release. These things all take a fair share of GPU power to render though, so it may not make it into the game.
As far as the game being to bright, I think I would rather see more of the environment than just a radius of light around me. That being said I'm sure their will be "darker" areas, both conceptually and literally in the game. Blizzard has said in numerous interviews now that they want to show a visual progression towards more dark and disturbed environments as you play through the game.
Whats so wrong with health orbs? I mean there are frozen orbs in D2. Is it so far of a stretch to implement healing orbs in D3? It's just a magical orb, sheesh, it's not like we have never seen them before. I like the healing orbs cause they symbolize the big red health orb and gives it meaning. "If I gather these little red orbs my big red orb gets fills up!".
How many people singed the petition? 50k? How many diablo fans are there? several million. Yea, minority. That's not even considering that there were vote bots which there most likely were.
Watch the video dammit.
The game progresses in grttyness, giving you the feeling that the world is slowly descending into hell.
I really didnt watch it yet. Does it really explain any better? Ill watch now anyway...
Okay, as a percentage of people who will buy the game (not all are actually really fans), 50k kinda a minority.
But its still a giant amount.
Also, the only problem isnt the style of some things but also the overall quality. With better quality models, animations, environment etc., they could draw the attention of more people who usually arent specially interested in Diablo or any RPG.
Lastly: Progressing into more "grittyness" doesnt mean progressing into 'quality' graphics.
Even the most happy places should have good models, animations and all that.
The graphics are fine, I don't want the game to lag when fifty thousand skeletons appear out of nowhere and attack me, that would be lame. I mean think about all the calculations when there are a hundreds of enemies getting blown away, their ragdoll corpses flying through the air. The animations are fine, they are very reminiscent of diablo 2, look at the way the skeletons move:D I would rather them spend their time making new items that I can kill shit with.
So... Not being able to see the things you are supposed to kill isn't enough reason to brighten the game?
Because you can only develope the game in either pitch blackness or in a colorful blurry overlay.

Because everyone who dislikes it has signed right? Compare the anti-petition of those who care enough to sign it against the pro-petition of those who care enough to sign it. Yes, neither set of numbers can be considered accurate... but, even an inaccurate 26 to 1 is hard to call a known minority for the 26 side...

Minority?
I assume they are referring to the blizzard audience, not the diablo audience.

no, not really. Still sounds like an excuse.
I see the exact same colors when I walk out side, shut your mouth. Its not even that blurry, its very detailed in fact. look at the shore line of the river.
People who liked it really didn't care about petitions because they liked what they saw and moved on, I didn't even sign the anti-petition, it was like stooping down to your level or something, no thank you.

Me on the other hand will buy it ASAP. If the gameplay stays the same or close to it i'm going to love it. who cares if it's to colory
