1. A beast is not a siege engine.
2. A warrior with an axe and plate armor is not going to beat a beast that size no matter what he does.
3. Silly? Yes. Silly, because he: moves slow, turns slow, attacks slow and weak, and dies from getting hurt in the foot.
1. It's a metaphor.
2. Maybe if that warrior were strong enough. We're not talking about RL here, it's fantasy. Heck, in Dragon Ball Z just about everyone could destroy a planet with one energy attack. At least it's not THAT unrealistic.
3. Siege engines aren't traditionally quick, though I do believe that his attacks are weak. Balance > realism here. Also, he doesn't have a foot.
Well, I'll tell you it means "raven" in Latin and is the name of the main character in Heretic II.

1) he is a living siege engine, look under his name
I don't care what Blizzard called him. An engine is a thingy that makes vehicles run. Or are you telling me that thing is a robot?

2) He will if he has enchanted equipment.
I don't think he had any.

3) He died from multiple types of attacks, he was on fire for most of the fight. A beast, no matter what the size will still bleed to death from having his legs ground into hamburger.
As far as I am concerned, if I take a barb with no skills and just one axe he can theoretically finish off that whole monster. That's how games like Diablo work... and that's dumb.

All of the bosses in D2 were big, but what made them deadly was their magic. This beast has no magic, so he makes up for it in size (like duriel).
If he really made it up in size he'd stomp on people and throw chunks of earth at them... not fought them like they were his size.

-.-' I don't know, but I don't care.

Assuming attributes match his skill, the guy will probably regenerate faster than he is hurt.

He does stomp on them, doesn't he?
Throwing chunks of earth is fine, but that's somewhat hard to do in a PC game.
In what way did he "fought them like they were his size"?

He only stomps as a last hit. not as a normal attack.
If it's hard to do in a PC game bring back the average monsters please.
He fought them like they were level with him. If you want to kill a couple ants, you do not take out a sword and slash at them, do you? And even if you do, your movements are different than from those you'd have if you fought another human. You makre more stomping hits, more fatal ones. The beast in the game just fights as though he's fighting another huge beast...
In D2 a warrior could go into hell, slaughter the legions of hell, then kill the lord of terror, hate, and destruction all by themselves... but he can't kill a huge living demonic siege engine, because it's just so big and silly and not realistic at all.
If the size of the beast you see being killed in the D3 trailer pisses you off, then being swarmed by 20 oblivion knights all hitting you at the same time and then being set on fire by the lord of terror himself must have been to horrible to comprehend. This game has always been about epic battles, and overcoming impossible odds.

I think a human>Guinea Pig analogy would be more accurate. I don't find it too awkward to slash a sword at a guinea pig if it wielded a mini-axe. I wouldn't want to get too close, for fear that it would slash the axe into my skin.
I don't care what Blizzard called him. An engine is a thingy that makes vehicles run. Or are you telling me that thing is a robot?
A mechanical appliance, instrument, or tool: engines of war.
An agent, instrument, or means of accomplishment.
I don't think he had any.
He had a big fiery maul.
As far as I am concerned, if I take a barb with no skills and just one axe he can theoretically finish off that whole monster. That's how games like Diablo work... and that's dumb.
No it isn't, I bet its a tough battle in the actual game, in the gameplay they showed they had yet to balance the skills, and even then 2/4 died.
If he really made it up in size he'd stomp on people and throw chunks of earth at them... not fought them like they were his size.
He did stomp, hard. why would he throw rocks? Those metal blades on his arm look like they would do more way more damage than rocks. He even had a charge attack and a cool death animation.
You never killed andariel with a naked barb? My original barb had like 18 in axe mastery and an ordinary axe, and that's it... he killed andariel, duriel, mephisto...

*Koff* no skills *Koff*.
Anyways.
So now you're complaining about DII as well.

No it isn't "dumb". You will just have to accept that the player characters in this game are exceptionally gifted warriors from the start.
Is anyone really complaining about the realism of killing a huge demonic siege engine beast from Hell with a Witchdoctor who raises pets out of the ground, and a barbarian who can twirl around in circles while moving in straight and kill everything in its path. Are you kidding me? This is not meant to be a flame, but for god's sake people come on.
I don't like the monster size. I prefer my monsters the size they were in DI and DII. When they get too big it's sooooo silly... more silly than I can agree to.

Lol here comes the realism buff. Go play operation flashpoint or Armed Assault. Listen, the diablo universe is not one to relate realism to.

Not ant-like, though. More guinea pig-like.
Guinea pigs are very small. [edit: relative to full-grown humans]

Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
Damage is not a question here. He'd kill them with one hit whether it's rocks or blades. Rocks are AoE.
