Well keep the graphics. Diablo 1, 2 and Lod had pretty much the same graphics. That is what made the game so desirable to play. Change it and it wont be so desirable anymore.
But there was only a gap of three years in between 1 and 2. Graphics are also developing at an increasing rate as time passes.
Look at Starcraft. Graphics have been updated, but you can still clearly see the resemblence. Zealots, Command Centers, Zerglings etc. all look like in the past, just with agraphical update.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

In all honesty I think that the graphics does have an impact on the 'addiction factor' of a game. I played Dungeon Siege 1 and 2 and, quite frankly, the graphics put me off a bit (I suppose the whole 3D zoom-in zoom-out 360 -degree view has never really done it for me). Games like Diablo and Baldur's Gate - simple 'screen for screen' view - have generally provided me with much more gaming pleasure.
For Diablo III, I wouldn't want to see Blizzard go all 3D - I would shit my pants. Twice. For me, the simple, locked views of both Diablo I and II added to the simplicity of the game. I find that the 3D view just complicates things a bit, having you constantly zoom in or out or turn the view a few degrees just to manouver your character around. It distracts you a bit and breaks the rhythm of gameplay.
I do not care what Blizzard makes of Diablo 3. If they make it 3D but with a fixed camera, that would be completely okay with me. I would just like a little bit of innovation. Kind of revolutionize, if you will.

But you can fix it right?
So, i still dont see the anti 3d argument about camera viewpoint in D3.
Yea, of course all RTS games give you the option to fix the camera. I played Age Of Empires III that way. Now that I think back on it, I don't think I ever zoomed in or rotated that biyatch.

I dont get why everyone wants graphics similar to D2 graphics.
This is D3, D2 is way out of date. I dont want to see graphics that were used 6 years ago.
As for WoW Graphics, too cartoonish.
I think GuildWars graphics are nice, and the very nice mmo, with the camera work, BUT gameplay is horrific. Blizzard rocks at gameplay, they can fix that up easily.
I think most people want graphics that resemble the same athmosphere in d1/2 then actually want the same engine/graphics.
(design and stuff from d1/2, you know)
Not all though it seems, which really surprises me.
Speaking of old graphics, how many here would have wagered that SC2 was keeping the old graphics if you hadn't seen the new sceenshots/movies? Not many I bet, so what makes D3 different?

Yep. D3 should, bar a definite change in Blizzard's approach, boast the same graphics as D2. Same as in the same interface. Of course there'll be improvements.
I don't think it could have Baldur's Gate, Diablo II or Neverwinter Nights graphics because they are too outdated.
Diablo III's graphics have to be a top-down kind of 3rd person, like the other 2 diablos, so we can't have Oblivion, neither can we have Fable, or either Zeldas...
We can't use WoW graphics either because Blizzard already does something with those (DUH)
Finally, we can't have Guild Wars because I don't like it
I am but a padawan learner, but I vote for higher reolution D2 graphics. As soon as this baby is announced, I am purchasing a new gaming PC to increase the playing pleasure.
D2 graphics where better graphics not by resolution but by the mood they set on how evil the world around you really was the erie danger of death it was great!

1. they will up the standard of graphics
2. gameplay prolly the same as it is with D2 LOD
3. No healing class
4. not copy any game they have done before except Diablo series
it just pisses me off how people say its gonna have a class system similar to WoW, well its not and thats for sure, D2 has always been about taking on heaps of crap at once, been mych more quick as opposed to WoW, only thing they taking from WoW is the idea of connecting to servers rather than making games
in my opinion it may be a while before blizzard announces diablo 3 but who knows they could shok us all with a strategy game

But that's my opinion, anyway.

SC2 is not fixed camera. If you watched the 20 minute demo on IGN, you will see that the camera rotates and zooms into the action.

That leaves us with Titan Quest and God of War.
I voted for Titan Quest.:):):)
I didnt mean that we should have Diablo 2 graphics, just that it should be a birds eye view kind of third person like God of War or Titan Quest
