It's always nice to be the best in a game. The only online game I was seriously into on PC, it was a completely different game when I was on top, playing with the best there were. I think that people also want to get the jump on the RMAH. Faster they hit inferno, the more money they can make.

Playing a Wizard. Looking for Demon Hunters to play with.

Is this really people's intention?
Yeah, I've seen a few posts about people forming rush groups so they can try to get a jump on the items market. Not my idea of a fun game experience personally.

I want a jump - but only in the sense that I know what's good buyin' and bad buyin'.

Hard to imagine anyone could control that much of the market really for it all to make a difference. I mean back in the day when people just duped and hacked items, now THOSE people could control markets. But a group of four trying to rush the game on the off chance they'll get so many premium items that they'll start to hold onto a share of the market?

As some have already stated, yes. Not everyone who wants to rush to Inferno has this goal in mind, but there are a few.
There's nothing wrong with it either. If you can find decent rares for Inferno / late hell - you can easily make back the money you spent buying the game. So in a week you could pay it off and then just enjoy the game/sell items casually for a little bit of pizza monies.
edit: It isn't about a hold on the market Siay.
It's about being able to make the good bit of money that you will only make before Inferno becomes farm mode. It will only last for a limited time - so a lot of people want to capitalize on that.
So you're trying to rush through the game in order to make just enough money to offset the initial cost of the game? I mean, if that's really how people wanna play the game, by rushing it, I have no problem with that. I just think it's funny they have this cost offsetting idea in mind.
For me anyway, if I quickly rushed through the game and sold some nice items I found in Inferno, I wouldn't really feel like I had offset anything because I had to rush through the game just to do that. I want to play this game nice and slow and very deliberately. Because one day when I've beaten the game, then I'll play it the same way I play D2 which is with a show going on in the background, and the game's sound off and where I'm just sort of paying attention to what I'm doing.
Yeah keep in mind that although people will reach 60 pretty quickly, they won't get to Inferno so fast. I doubt you'll be able to go hardcore for like 7 days and already be farming Inferno. I would hope not anyways. So anyone who's trying to get on top of the RMAH really fast and start farming Inferno super quick is probably going to have to play hardcore for a while... seems like it's better to pace yourself over such a time period rather than staying up for like 3 days straight.
It does kind of bother me that you can only play with 4 people in D3... I guess that's the whole conspiracy about funnelling social environments to MMOs.

I won't know without the game-play experience!
