Gems: Topaz in armor, and emeralds in weapon and helm. Emerald in helm increases gold find, but can be replaced for Amethyst to improve initial toughness before gold begins to drop.
Rings & Amulet: Ring of Royal Grandeur, Circle of Nailuj's Evol and Avarice Band, are all required, in any order two on person and one in cube. Wisdom of Kalan is the preferred amulet choice for the 5% added run speed, but a Hellfire Amulet can work too.
Boots & Chest: Requiem Cereplate and Steuart's Greaves are strongly advised, one on person and one in cube. The boots can be replaced with Tasker & Theo, if one wants to sacrifice movement speed in favor of DPS.
Weapon: It needs Essence secondary stat.
Offhand: Lost Time can have some marginal usefulness when Frost Spikes are used, but any Phylactery will work. It needs Essence secondary stat.

Build Guide
Rotation and priorities:
Open with Bone Armor, and immediately summon a pair Skeletal Mages. Avoid damage since at this stage the build is quite fragile. Help replenish Essence with Bone Spikes and bring a second pair of Skeletal Mages out. At this point monsters should begin to die and gold to drop, gather the gold and enter goldmode (godmode). From here on, Devour alone should suffice to keep Essence topped off, so that 10 Skeletal Mages can be sustained. Blood Rush to gain mobility, and refresh Bone Armor as needed.
If Essence is an issue to restore, then drop the difficulty level. Monsters should die very quickly simply by running past them, and the increasing radius from Avarice Band collecting gold, greatly extends the radius of Frailty and Devour auras.
As the title suggests, this is a Rift farming build. It can work to some extent in bounties; however, the travel time between zones expires the Skeletal Mages, and fighting against bosses can be quite challenging due to the fragility of this build when starved of gold. Unless modified, this build is not appropriate for Greater Rifts.
Feb. 2018 update: This build is still viable in Season 13.
