Core Setup

This is a slightly adjusted Zunimassa/Gargantuan setup to use with the buffed Ring of Emptiness.

The idea for this build has been brought to me through one of my viewers (Micolino, this is your credit here ;) ).

Our items are pretty much set in stone except the shoulder slot, where you can use whatever you have if the stats fit.

Corruption has the benefit of providing additional 7 yards pickup range which helps our Grave Injustice passive as well as our survivability when picking up health globes. Every other piece should do the trick if the stats are good.

For defensive issues we have the well-known Sacred Harvester / Lakumba's Ornament combo in use as well as (attention) leeching beasts rune for some healing (see build description below why this works).

Our choice on legendary gems is the same like in any other pet builds: BoTS, BoTT, Enforcer.

If you feel like you really need some more toughness, try swapping out BoTS for Esoteric Alteration.

Build Guide

Introduction

Hello fellow monster slashers.

This is my second build here and I hope it provides enough information to all of you willing to try something out of the box (not too far though).

The video attached is cut from my stream while testing this on the PTR and shows a pretty solid 89 clear. I only used that Chanelling Pylon because I failed hard on that elite there ;)

The Idea

As mentioned before, the idea came from one of my viewers (Micolino) and I instantly wanted to try it.

The combination of 6p Zunimassa, which usually includes Haunt as 6p proc spell and the currently buffed Ring of Emptiness offers a huge boost for our Gargs. In addition EW offers both offensive and defensive values to this setup.

Pros:

  • Incredible damage output in close range
  • good sustainability
  • fast BoTS stacks on single targets (yellows, RG)

Cons:

  • high mana usage
  • less toughness because of missing Legion of Daggers
  • high risk play due to close range fights
  • no Henris or Uhkapian for defense

The Playstyle

As we are using 6p Zuni without RoRG we have to drop both Henri's and Uhkapian to use Zuni mojo. This does not only look a bit risky, it really is. So I wouldn't recommend trying this build on HC!

The most obvious thing to notice is the missing Legion of Daggers. Sure we loose 8 fetishes and therefore some toughness (Zuni 4p bonus) but with leeching beasts we get a good source of healing during fights. If you manage to get a decent LoH item (ancient bracers, SH) you'll see how intense the heals are.

Another thing to notice here is, that when fighting the RG you have less fetishes blocking the way for the gargs (even if they punch over the fetishes) and your dogs get a spot to heal you there too (can be really helpful on some RGs). And because we only spawn fetishes with our BoT you'll recast them constantly even on RG fights. That offers space for those dogs pretty quickly and you'll be set for the fight.

Confidence Ritual passive and cubed Wormwood force us to be really close to our Gargs when fighting trash, elites and the RG. This is both useful and risky.

Useful because we get full effect from our Grave Injustice passive, risky for obvious reasons. If you get hard affixes like arcane, electrified, frozen and frozen pulse you'll be in some trouble and need to react precisely. Worst case affix like on any Haunt spec is reflect damage! If you don't pay attention this can blow you out of your shoes in a blink ;)

But on the other side your dogs will keep you alive for a good amount of time while standing close to your enemy.

In the video (taken from my stream while testing the build on PTR) you'll get the idea pretty good. As in every Garg based build, you want to group up as much mobs as possible, recast your gargs on top and start to make use of your spells.

Summary

Overall a very funny Zuni variant with quite some potential for GR90 and above.

In comparison to HT setups it feels like its behind in damage output and it sure is nothing to claim top spots on the boards, but it's kinda fun to perform.

Feel free to comment, critizise or ask along!

Thanks,

regards,
