Build Guide
Disclaimer: I am NOT a professional Diablo 3 build maker. As this is the first real build I have made, there are probably multiple things I have done wrong and could do better (Example: I don't know what the good stat priorities would be, I'll try to figure out how to test that). I just wanted to share this build with the people that actually care.
The highest Greater Rift currently done with this build is Rank 57 (Granted my gear is kinda trash).
Currently Best Tested Skill Usage Order:
1. Ice Armor & Magic Weapon (Should always be on regardless)
2. Slow Time (Kinda obvious)
3. Energy Twister (To pull enemies into one localized area; should generally be near the center of a Slow Time bubble)
4. Explosive Blast
5. Continuously cast Spectral Blade as Explosive Blast is charging
6. One Blast has finished, cast another Time bubble
7. Then cast Twister roughly near the center of the Time bubble
8. Repeat steps 5-7
9. Remember to keep Ice Armor and Magic Weapon up at all times
Note:
I say this because I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem: I am currently experiencing a glitch where the "Time Remaining" bar above Ice Armor resets after doing things such as: Picking up items, dropping items, taking waypoints, using potions, changing skills, changing equipment, dying items, enchanting items, buying items from merchants, selling items to merchants, crafting items, salvaging items, moving items around within stash, moving items around within inventory, and entering different areas via doors, but the time remaining of Ice Armor does not reset. Time remaining on Ice Armor should not entirely be gauged by the bar above the skill. (However, I just found out that the bar depletes at a rate where it will be empty once it ends (Example: If both Ice Armor and Magic Weapon are activated at the same time and Ice Armor sets back when it has 5 minutes left (Half the time left), the bar above Ice Armor will deplete at twice the rate as the bar above Magic Weapon, both reaching empty at the same time)). This glitch may also have been fixed.
Thanks to danbstep for giving suggestions on how to improve this build. Check out his build (http://www.diablofans.com/builds/81147-ice-cream-magus-opus), which is like a cold damage version of this one.
I'm currently working on a similar build but with frost spells (for flavor and to differentiate it further from Firebug) but I'm sure there's room for improvements and this Fire variation can have more damage. You can check the work in progress and help me with my build here: http://www.diablofans.com/builds/81147-ice-cream-magus-opus
You should consider Simplicity's Strengh as a gem option, it gives a lot of extra damage on Spectral Blade and heals you for 4% your max life on hit. It means you are able to sit over most affixes when attacking so fast and it does more damage than Bane of Stricken on most mobs except the Rift Guardian (and very durable elites) since the damage boost is already there and you don't need to stack it.
Frost Nova with Bone Chill gives 33% extra damage to monsters even with Arlyse procs, so you should consider it over Magic Weapon. I'm not using tornadoes because I have a partner to pull them together, but it's certainly a good option to have some spender. The other option is to have no spender and use Aquila.
Also, Convention of Elements is quite wasted when not using different elements and damage cooldowns, 200% extra damage seems good, but 75% of the time you don't use it, so it's actually a 50% increase in damage overall. I'm cubing Ring of Royal Grandeur so I can have an extra legendary effect on armor (currently using Depth Diggers).
We should maybe try to mix those builds and make a FrostFire Wizard!
Also I have to point out that you are bravely not using Teleport, and I always wanted to get rid of it but never had the balls to take it off. I'm trying it now after the maintenance.
Thanks for the suggestions! Your build is pretty cool as well (pun entirely intended).
I took into account having Simplicity's Strength, Ring of Royal Grandeur w/ Aquila Cuirass, & Bone Chill.
Also trying this w/ Safe Passage for a bit more toughness.Ended up hardly using Teleport at all, so using other skills instead. Also, since you said we should try to mix the builds and the idea also sounded neat to me, I came with this real quick as a possible starting point for said build: http://www.d3planner.com/365700632
