Legendary Gems
Hello fellow Demon Hunters. This is my idea for a Demon Hunter build using the new Unhallowed set. First I'll give a brief explanation of my item choices and the synergy that I believe exists between them.
1) Odyssey's End:
I chose this weapon due to the damage bonus of Entangling Shot's snare component. I also chose Chain Gang to give this snare components additional damage to additional targets. This stacked with Bane of the Trapped, R25 Gem of Efficacious Toxin, Cull of the Weak and Discipline stack can make for some devastating Multishots.
2) Dead Man's Legacy:
This item almost goes without saying with this build. If you are using anything else then I think it's detrimental to your damage. This along with Ambush makes for some very quick killing. Considering if you get this rolled with the 60% restriction you only have 15% of the targets health where you are not doing some pretty severe additional damage.
3) Focus and Restraint:
I chose these 2 items for the 100% additional damage. It's quick, it's easy and it will be up 100% of the time while performing this build as you will need to cast Entangling Shots at minimum every 2 seconds to get maximum damage potential from the build.
4) Strongarm Bracers:
I would only recommend this item if you get the roll of "it specifically" allowing knockback (50% chance preferably). This along with Supression Fire Rune on Multishot is pretty severe. Not only for the increased damage but also for the defensiveness it will be providing to you with all the knockback.
5) Omryn's Chain:
This item is pretty self-explanatory. Caltrops per Vault, nuff said.
6) Hellfire Amulet:
Personally, I will continue until I get it, a Hellfire Amulet that gives me the Numbing Traps Passive. I really want to work Numbing Traps into this build but I need the Hellfire Amulet to proc it or one of the other ones I have chosen for the build.
7) Ambush:
This synergizes like nothing else with Dead Man's Legacy. The 15% (if max Dead Man's Legacy proc) of the mobs health that you do reduced damage is phenomenal.
8) Cull of the Weak:
Self-explanatory.
9) Awareness:
A must-have Passive. No matter where you are in your skill level, there will always be that "oh CRAP!" moment that this will nullify.
10) Custom Engineering:
Ain't nobody got time to be watching out for Sentries dropping. And in this build I use Sentries as a defensive tool rather than an offensive tool. I stack Sentries in a manner that puts an enormous circle on the ground that I kite mobs through. If anyone has played WoW on a Hunter you can relate with Freezing Trap and kiting players/mobs through it while moving normal speed.
11) Bane of the Trapped:
The additional damage from this is /win. Considering you will be in a 100% slowing/snaring situation with the exception of some Guardians and Elites this is pretty common sense. And the R25 effect is <3.
12) Taeguk:
I don't really think I know of a build without this?
13) Gem of Efficacious Toxin:
I like this gem for the mobility/damage component. Also with the damage increase at R25 I feel like this is the best gem to round out the build.
With every item you can, make sure you stack + Discipline. This build can get you where you want to go but the more Discipline you have the more potent it will be (obviously).
Well that's it, tell me what you think.

Edit:
I played around with this build a bit last night (4/29/15) and noticed that it isn't very fast, but it's incredibly effective. With that being said, if you are going for Leaderboard stardome I wouldn't suggest this build, you won't make the time cut but for just out and out finishing the GR I was at 47 and had no problems finishing the Rift for Gem Upgrade.
This was without the Hellfire Amulet I want or Strongarm Bracers with 50% knockback (have Strongarm Bracers but no knockback on them). I also do not have Taeguk max'd out yet. Also I can't use the Focus/Restraint 2pc bonus yet due to only have 5 pieces of this set so instead I used a RoRG and a Restraint. I am only assuming that once all that gets in line I could manage low 50's easily (no Leaderboard Hero though).

Hi. Just a small comment. Strongarm Bracers will never give you 50% knockback (you could get that with a perfectly rolled Windforce Bow). What strongarms give you is a *very small* chance of rolling 1 to 5.1% chance of knockback on one of the secondary stats. I say small because I've tried rerolling that stat to knockback and it cost me millions and millions of gold before the stat finally rolled (4.6% and I consider myself lucky to have got that).
and for the record the Strongarms were for the Kridershot Blue Balls build with %lightning damage. I'd say this item was as rare and as hard to get as an ancient kridershot, considering the very specific stat requirements (% lightning Crit Chance and knockback). While 4% knockback may not seem like much, the Blue Balls hit so frequently they apparently proc the bracers quite regularly.
I must have mistakenly looked at an "old" set of Strongarm Bracers. On the tooltip is showed 50% chance as maximum roll for knockback 0.o
Ok so I would not rely on that then I suppose, although there is probably still more than enough knockback to make it effective. Maybe.
I'll look into it and do a bit more testing in a higher rift. I still haven't gotten to far past 47.. (49 with seconds to spare is my best so far).
Thanks for that info.
Honestly, I have a well rolled Ancient Odyssys End and I find it works very well with a pure fire build, so you may want to try that out. I'm using Entangling Shot Justice is sereved, multishot Arsenal and Vengence Seethe. Obviously for my passives I'm running Ballistics to maximise the rocket damage. I also run the passive that increases hatred regen by 4 (can't remember its name) and Cull thr weak and Awareness. I've completed a GR53 with this build (I'm 720 paragon). My gems are BotT; Zie's and Toxin -which I believe makes a better case for itself once you start to get it to high levels. It is a shame Iceblink caps at 50. cheers.
ps. sorry I got confused thought you were using Iceblink but I was thinking of another build (cold).
