This build focuses on one thing and one thing only, killing the RG. Not everybody has the AoE killing power that Monks and Barbs have, and Wizard isn't what I'd call the OP clearer that it once was.
Though this build will change come 2.2, for now, it's simple, single target damage. The Familiar and Magic Weapon are your buffs, and the Hydra used to bring your Firebird's dot up quickly, then using Archon/Arcane Torrent to blast down the RG's health.
Why Arcane Torrent? Though it does require you to plant your feet, it also provides a shield, which offers you more defence and time to move out of particular attacks that will be thrown your way.
Aim high on your gear selections, I wouldn't suggest taking a less than adequate Sunkeeper, just for the elite damage over a much better weapon, but if you can get your hands on a decent one, use it. Furnace's and WoH's are also be recommended.
This build fits perfectly with any and all Zdps builds, you can help clear rifts with a Zdps by using archon to quickly melt away any and all monsters your Zdps is holding, and then allowing them to find more friends while Archon recharges or you can use Torrent as well.
