Overwhelming Desire
This is the 42 Pick up Radius Zdps WD for the speed meta in season 16.
As far as i know, there are 3 speed group compositions this season from best to worst, with Rats being the best and the other 2 being a little worse
Lon rat x2 / znec / zbarb
Charger barb /dh/ zmonk/ zbarb
Jade wd / dh/ zmonk / zbarb
You are replacing the zbarb in the rat group. Depending on how good your group is, you can expect trillions of experience a hour and less than 4 min runs. Currently, I am getting about 2.2 to 3 trillion xp a hour from speed 109s. From testing build variations, i have found this build to be the best all around.
First of all, let talk about rat runs. Rat runs are based around picking up globes to replenish resource for the rathma DPS using Reaper's wraps. Each globe returns up to 30% of resources and the more resource and globes picked, the more damage Rats can deal by summoning mages. This is even more important this season with the new speed meta because LoN rat mages die after 6 seconds with the loss of the mage ring and they are even more dependent on getting globes constantly to keep up their 10 stack mages. The Zdps necro will generate globes and freeze enemies for 10 seconds before it starts to DR.
There are pros and cons to using a zWD instead of zbarb
PROS
1. Number 1 and most importantly , 42 pick up range. 42 pick up range is huge and you can pick up more globes and faster so rats can deal more damage and keep up mages easier. A zbarb is limtied to 22 pur.
2. Massive damage buffs. You can provide stacking debuffs from Piranhas from yourself and your minics. You provide BBV which is another 15% attack speed and attack bonus. There is Hex - jinx which provides 15% damage and hex- frog from your acryhr set which provides another 15% damage. Overwhelming Desire- 35% damage debuff on mobs on chance on hit. Strong arms- another 30% which both zWD and zBarb have. Zbarbs have shout-falter which is a nice damage debuff. Although from my experiece, most barbs dont even use it effectively on the elite targets and just spin around aimlessly with the skill on numlock.
3. Massive damage reduction.
Bad medicine provides 25% damage reduction. You do this automatically with wormwood spreading locust and when you hit mobs with toxin gem, and piranhas.
Big Bad Voo - 20% damage reduction. Make sure you cast this around elites so your party gets the attack speed and DR buff.
Loscus swarm - 25% damage reduction. This is automatic from wormwood casting it every second. Make sure you apply it to the mobs by running close to them.
You must be proactive and constantly make sure these buffs / debuffs are up by running near the mobs. A zbarb has IP and armor bonus from shout and usually has those skills on numlock which is easier for them to apply but is also lower than the DR provided from WD. For instance, you will have a easier time killing jugg elites with the higher damage and DR bonus provided by the zWD.
CONS
1. It will be very hard to get groups to take a zWD instead of the standard zbarb. I just make my own party.
2. Speed buffs. A zbarb can provide sprint and warcry buffs to their team for more movement speed while a ZWD has no movement increase team buffs outside of BBV which is not effective. Although this is diminished by the fact that LoN rats don't really need it since they are already using Steuart's Greaves and have 100% movement speed already.

Build Guide
GAMEPLAY
This is designed to pick up globes for Rat group play with a znec and rats.
Your main job is to pick up globes.
You must be constantly moving. Get use to casting a skill and press force move for a second, casting a skill and moving again to optimally pick up globes.
Follow your zNecro and keep up with him at all times.
Walk into range of mobs so wormwood can get the DoTs spreading for damage reduction from locust/ bad medicine.
Cast hex, force move, cast piranhas, force move, repeat
Save BBV and mass confusion for elites.
Thank You so much for this very detailed guide to ZWD. Very well explained. Cheers
Great guide and interested in trying it. One critique:
Add to cons:
- Doesn't have immunity to crowd control effects, as compared to zBarb's Ignore Pain.
