Convention of Elements
"While this is your only Item Set bonus every Ancient item you have equipped increases your damage dealt by 100% and reduces your damage taken by 4%."
With the 2.6.4 PTR the set bonus was increased from initially 100% to 500% for every Ancient item equipped. With the latest Patch Notes for the release of 2.6.4 this bonus was further increased to a stunning 750%! The total amount of equipped Ancient items is 13, making it a 9.750% damage multiplier. (Tal Rasha, on the other hand, took a hit, thus making the Legacy of Nightmare [LoN] set interesting. Especially for Non - Season players.)
"Double the number of enemies your Electrocute jumps to."
Three things make this Wizard Hat superior to Andariels Visage or any other head armor:
- Arcane Power on Crit [APoC]
- Secondary Affix: Maximum Arcane Power
- Legendary Affix
Maximum Arcane Power increases the damage of Star Pact meteors, whilst [APoC] and the Legendary affix with Electrocute - Surge of Power (rune) secure a rapid Arcane Power replenishment. That makes it possible to cast 2 fully buffed (Arcane Attunement and Black Hole) Meteors in the Convention of Elements - Arcane phase and to cast more meteors between the "off-cycle" of CoE (Cold / Lighting/ Fire).
We were testing this build for toughness in a 149 Greater Rift and despite the fact that we dump all of our Arcane Power regularly, we were able to have a semi-decent uptime of Aquila Cuirass.

Build Guide
Here´s a link to the build. Remember, d3planner still shows a 500% LoN Buff. This build equals Tal Rasha with Season Grandeur Buff.
In the provided d3planner link down below, you can compare the current 2.6.1 Firebird Meteor damage with my 2.6.4 LoN Velvet Meteor damage.
Just go to the tab Skills/Effects and you´ll see the icon for Meteor. When you move your mouse over the value for calculated damage you can see all multipliers for the skill. You then can just switch between Sets in the lower left corner. You can also go to the Simulation tab and simply click on Start.
With exactly the "same" gear stats, Legendary Gems, Paragon, Augments, etc.
2.6.1 Firebird Meteor hits with an average damage of : 312,065,976,327,743
2.6.4 LoN Velvet Meteor hits with an average damage of : 556,849,401,674,268 = (371,232,934,449,512 * 1,5 [Factor of 2.6.4 Buff])
That is an increase of 78%.
For further Comparison
2.6.4 Tal Season Meteor hits with an average damage of : 565,748,155,722,446 = (848,622,233,583,669 / 1,5 [Factor of 2.6.4 Nerf])
Interesting!
interesting theorycraft, but unfortunately Tal + Endless Walk or Tal + F&R beats LoN, so theorycrafting for LoN is kind of a dead end.
This is probably the strongest LoN build for wizard though.
I don´t know where you get your information from, but I added the value for a Tal Rasha Season Meteor Hit as well. As you can see, it hits almost the same damage.
Thing is, you can´t play all 4 Elements of Tal Rasha. If you do so, you lose either Spellsteal or Arcane Attunement Buff. Both scenarios would result in worse damage. So the best way to play Tal Rasha is to play it with Spellsteal and forget about one stack of the set. It also means that you don´t get all the stacks from the resistance bonus of the 4-piece set, leaving you in a bad state in terms of toughness. F/R would actually beat LoN but without Karini and Storm Armor, Tal Rasha is a glass cannon that has no say in any higher greater rifts.
To sum up. On season, Tal Rasha will have it´s right and do good. A similar equipped Wizard with LoN will out dps him in the end cause of the faster Arcane replenishment and flexibility. On non season, there´s simply no rival. Period.
That's perfect. Tal Rasha is hella decent and will give you a room in the groups. While playing, you will have more objective than farming mainstat, as you will also be able to farm items for a future LoN build, making it about 3x more interesting to keep playing. In the end, the pay-off is ascension as you reach your final form.
Why is this build using both Audacity and Zei's stone of vengeance? If you're going to commit to the distance multiplier, isn't it better to go with Power Hungry? And if you're not keeping your distance, wouldn't Bane of the Powerful do better?
First of all, I`m happy that you like the build. This is mostly for high GR pushs and when it comes to those, even the minimum range multiplier of Zeis is better than any other gem there is. If you check the Leaderboards you´ll see that every top Wizard is playing with it.
Any tips how to use it properly? Should I keep distance or go near enemies? Use all the time Desintegrate to spam meteors/black holes/Wave of Force (ES passive) or just refill mana to full and w8 to arcane Convention of Elements?
What to do on CoE window? Stack arcane dynamo passive (1,6 x dmg) and use Meteor...then repeat? Or try to use somehow Desintegrate, BH and WoF to trigger their passives? Deathwish and ES increase dmg "while" channeling... How to properly use all buffs?
How to survive solo and how to cooperate with team?
This is a group build most of all. If you want to know how to play it, just check out any Star Pact Wizard clip on youtube or in the forum. It´s more or less the same playstyle as the current Meta is.
I guess you've never played Tal Rasha before. You don't use black hole or wave of force with Tal Rasha Star Pact.
Tal'Rasha has plenty of toughness thanks to halo of arlyse+ 4p Tal Rasha + APDs.
It is the meta build for the highest GRs.
For star pact, LoN is decent but Tal'Rasha + EW is better.
Velvet Meteor just got confirmed. Greater Rift 150 in not even 14 minutes.

What are your recommendations for the fifth passive? Another Dmg boost like power hungry or some toughness like blour?
For BIS Stats take Life on shoulders and Armor on chest
Hey man correct me if im wrong but, if i use electrocute surge of power and have a velvet helm with 4 APOC, do i need to have it on offhand again? or i can roll Meteor damage on offhand? ty
