Full 6 piece set for Delsere's Magnum Opus, with a Topaz in the Helm, all Topaz in the Torso and either all Topaz for offense or all Diamonds for defense in the Legs. Secondary affixes should focus on boosting Maximum Arcane Power total.


Moonlight Ward is the best fit as the shards overlap Arcane Orb and the boost to Arcane damage boosts them as well, a Hellfire Amulet with Unwavering Will or Glass Cannon or of course Traveler's Pledge. Convection of Elements for the 200% damage boost and Unity for damage reduction, though Convection of Elements could be swapped with Halo of Arlyse in the Cube for whichever one rolls better and/or swapping Unity for Compass Rose if using Traveler's Pledge. For a more offensive take, swapping with Pandemonium Loop would work well due to how the Wizard will be keeping enemies piled up in melee range.


Legendary Gems are Bane of the Trapped to proc increased damage in melee range, Esoteric Alteration for elemental resistances, and Molten Wildebeest's Gizzard for healing and additional health shielding. Esoteric could be swapped with Simplicity's Strength for better healing and Spectral Blade damage, or Bane of the Stricken to pile on more damage.


Nemesis Bracers work for speedrunning Rifts or Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers could be worn directly if at maxed affix, in which case the Crown of Primus or Depth Diggers, since Shame of Delsere will make Spectral Blade count as a proper Primary skill.


Shame of Delsere boosts attack speed for Spectral Blade by 50% and grants up to 12 Arcane Power per cast, whereas Witching Hour is a well rounded offensive boost.


For Weapons, Wand of Woh boosts Explosive Blast up to 400% and triggers it 4 times in a single cast, Triumvirate boosting Arcane Orb by 400% for every cast of a Signature spell, stacking up to 3 times for up to a 1200% boost. Orb of Infinite Depth would be a viable alternative for boosting overall damage and granting damage reduction via Explosive Blade stacking.


Cubed items are Fragment of Destiny for another 50% attack speed boost to Spectral Blade, with a 200% damage boost as well. Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers for the maxed 100% shield boost affix for Galvanizing Ward and Diamond Skin, though it could be swapped with Depth Diggers thanks to Shame of Delsere if wearing the Bracers directly. Halo of Arlyse boosts melee damage reduction up to 60% for Ice Armor and grants Frost Nova casts when taking 10% or more damage at once.

Paragon of 1000 and above is required to push past GR65, focus on Intelligence and Vitality at a 10 to 5 spending ratio, with Maximum Arcane Power and Movement Speed to be fleshed out when able.


Attack Speed is key to get out as many spells as fast as possible, with Critical Hit Chance and Damage rounding out damage capability. Cooldown Reduction isn't quite required due to the 2 piece bonus affecting Slow Time, but it does shave down Explosive Blast to a minimal cooldown.


Life Regeneration for healing, Armor and Resist All for defense and then Life total.


Life on Hit for healing, Resource Cost Reduction for better use of Arcane Power, and Area Damage to overlap spell damage. Gold Find isn't applicable to the build.

Build Guide

This build has been tested in patch 2.6.1 for the PS4.


This build is a refined version of one of the build alternatives for my BladeBlast Wizard, replacing Arcane Torrent with Diamond Skin and adjusting for the shift in defensive power to allow for more direct offensive use with full Convection of Elements rotations. As such it doesn't rely on maxing out the full potential of Slow Time with Crown of the Primus for all runes, and Ice Armor is allowed a more offensive use rather than defensive.


Spectral Blade with Thrown Blade is the fastest and foremost damage dealer as Lightning, brought up to par with Fragment of Destiny in the Cube (or used directly) for damage and it along with Shame of Delsere for attack speed. This allows it to accrue stacks for Arcane Dynamo and Triumvirate to boost Arcane Orb and/or Explosive Blast, letting it supplement as a damage booster as well as generating Arcane Power. Explosive Blast itself is the second fastest with the Chain Reaction rune dealing 3 successive blasts as Fire damage, quadrupled to 12 thanks to Wand of Woh. Arcane Orb using Arcane Orbit means a drop in the skill's base damage, but thanks to Spectral Blade's boosted attack speed, the time between attack periods is phenomenally small so the orbs detonate much for often for better DPS, and are boosted with Triumvirate significantly. This means all three of the build's offensive skills have a significant damage supplement along with the 3800% damage boost from the 6 piece bonus.


Ice Armor still maintains defensive use with Halo of Arlyse in the Cube, but now as leeway as an offensive skill as well, Frozen Storm dealing 80% damage as Cold per second to enemies within 15 yards and Chilling them. This overlaps with the range of Bane of the Trapped and benefits from the 200% damage boost from Convection of Elements. With Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers in the Cube, Diamond Skin has its damage absorption doubled to 80%, effectively giving it the Crystal Shell rune for free and allowing use of Enduring Skin to boost the duration to 6 seconds. Slow Time isn't as central to the build's utility, so the Time Warp rune making enemies take 15% more damage is suitable for the build's needs.


The passives are rather set, Arcane Dynamo to boost skill damage by 60% for every 5 uses of Spectral Blade, and Audacity to deal 30% more damage within 15 yards, perfect for melee range. Unstable Anomaly is the Wizard's get out of death free card every 60 seconds, and Dominance grants health shielding upon slaying enemies, the latter boosted by Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers and working better for how neck deep the Wizard will be in mobs with this build.


In terms of further alterations, the main one would be Diamond Skin being swapped for Magic Weapon with Deflection, making for weaker but much more consistent damage reduction given the sheer attack speed of Spectral Blade, though it won't have the sheer damage reduction offset even with Ashnagarr's Blood Bracers doubling the shield potency.


As this build has a slower play and push rate, it isn't suited to group play.
