I posted in a similar thread recently, and I’d highly suggest you check it out, because it goes into the nature of probabilities and how Magic Find works in Diablo III.

In brief: drops are in no-way controlled on a per-player or account basis. What you are experiencing, be it a Legendary hot streak or dry spell, is simply a result of RNG. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Drop Rate Decreased?
Since patch 1.0.6 did not change any of the drop rates I would say what you are experiencing is, unfortunately, simply a bad luck streak. :( I know it can be hard to believe after a very long run of previously great luck, but we truly didn’t lower the drop rates of Legendary items.

That said, our Bug Report forum would be a great place to post about those invisible monster attacks. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Biggest Avenger Mob
I think the largest Avenger monster I have ever seen was a Blood Clan Occultist. When I saw it I wanted to treat it like a punch balloon but I didn't have a Butchers Sickle or Ancient Spear. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
