His vitriolic words are aimed towards those with 'unreasonable' complaints against Diablo 3's art direction, and each of the player complaints are addressed one by one in the video.
Adam Sessler is just a pom-pom waver until of course he finds a game he doesn't like but that of course would be just a professional critical review *AHEM*. What is your profession? I'm a professional game critic.
LUV the once again ASSumed numbers of how many who don't like Diablo's art direction he threw out. ROLMAO! Yes Adam there are only a couple hundred of us, we all live in caves in the Mideast and yes OH please call us America haters while you are at it.
Well we who don't like the art direction it's clear we should have all just gotten in line and ate the tripe we were served by the Blizzard's Bovine University for the good of those who just love whatever is served. We should have kept our mouths shut, be seen, not heard, no independent thinking here.
We will get what we get and like it.
mmmmmm yummy tripe, can I have some bowels for desert?

the game has gore as hell, and not the super serial type, i mean, its ultra violent, loads of blood and body parts, who cares about colors when you have that much violence in a game?
dude is right.
There is a reason why movies like "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" are referred to as cheesy B slash and gash flicks and others are called horror classics like “The Exorcist” and “The Omen”. It’s not all about gore and violence.
Too bad complaining about the art style did no good at all. If the dev team thought you guys had anything substantial with your "art design suggestions" they would have listened, but they didn't. Their reasoning for colors was completley founded in yet nobody would stay a while and listen. They made it colorful for GAMEPLAY purposes. Most of the art criticizms, were from opinionated douches that had no logical arguments and wanted nothing more than to rip on it. The art design in D3 kicks ass and I dont know how anyone could justify ripping on it unless they had some sort of chip on their shoulder. I have yet to hear a solid argument against the art design and I doubt that I ever will. It's just that damn good.

All very good points.
I signed the petition. I liked the altered images vs. the originals. Is that to say I think the direction is a complete waste? I would be a fool to make such a claim. The barb getting his head bitten off with blood being strewn around was just f***ing EPIC. Seriously, I could pee my pants over it. Regardless, I think the petition was good feedback, a good suggestion and I still support it.
And Adam Sessler spent 3m30s to say nothing besides "If you don't like it, play something else.". Pure genius. :|
He's right though. If you wanna complain about the game to a point where you can't appreciate a single element it has to offer, you'd be better off playing something else.
It's not the bright colors that bothered me, it's the finger-paint like art of the outside environments
(the trees) that took me aback.
Over-exaggeration is great at making your point seem valid, isn't it?A lot of fans made it known that they liked the hand-drawn look that diablo games had. They had to maintain a hand-drawn look in full 3D at high resolutions so they made the environment look like a painting to keep the nostalgia. It's less like a finger painting and more like a master piece.
Get a job at blizzard and then complain? That would only work if you get a position controlling the direction and they are not hiring for that now and it is far too late in the game, nice suggestion but unrealistic. I realize you can't make everyone happy all of the time but I think the feedback shows clearly shows Blizzard did not listen or ask what the customer wanted. While it might be true people on the dissatisfied side elevate the numbers I think it's equally true the satisfied side minimizes them.
Of all the interviews and comments from inside Blizzard show they didn’t ask, it’s about “what they want, what makes them happy, what makes their management happy”. When it comes to the customer it’s “we think fans will be pleased, we believe game play will be diverse and satisfying” and then there is just the old defend our direction at all cost stances.
They didn’t check with the fan base to see what they were looking for, it’s simple Blizzard North got cut or something and Irvine got their hands on it and lost Blizzard North’s vision. It pretty frustrating but we will have to drink whatever flavor of Kool-Aid we are handed or have none at all.

Last time I checked "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" are both considered horror classics...just sayin...

I'm old enough remember when they all first came out, no Jason and Freddie are not classics. Halloween was the best and most revered slash and gash to be even considered as a classic, everything else was a cheesy knock off.
Dude, did you miss the part where he said that they went through iterations with the darker and grittier look and it just wasn't that fun to play? Also he mentioned that 1/3 of the team is people that worked on Blizzard North and when u take into account that the whole current team now is satisified with the art direction, what does that tell u?
Not fun to play according to Jay. I think Jay Wilson is defending his direction, I think the Blizzard North team wants to keep their jobs. You really don't expect them to bite the hand that feeds them do you? I started my career in IT doing tech support for Adobe and have enough experience over the years with AutoCAD, Studio Max, Bryce, and Lightwave to buy his pitch that the darkness wasn't working.
I know the art direction isn't changing, but I will speak my mind anyways.
Politics are bad enough in IT, I'm so glad I shifted direction towards the engineering side, artist politics are twice as bad.
