Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. love how all the newcomers only responded to this haha.
Honestly mockery im sure this site played a big part in why diablo III became a reality instead of a dream. Thank you
Most of the 'newcomers' (like myself) have been reading this site for a long time
Page 20 Deckard Cains Journal
http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/lore/journal.xml
"Though I tell no one, Diablo's terror has left its mark upon me as well"
No one saw this??
What if he means that he is being corrupted?
Read the rest on that page, he says
"I hope that these will pass in time, but I fear that I will never escape them".
Could be him thinking demons are upon him?
uhh thats what i was referring to by my post. i assumed everyone read the cain journal...
for all we know, he could be at the point of death or corruption, which is possibily why he took on a student (the girl lighting the candles in the teaser) to pass his teachings onto before he loses whats left of himself.
No problem man, I just joined this site recently, but it is by far the best fan site around, even mentioned on the diablo3.com website, so awesome.
Big props to you guys for all the work it must take to keep up with all of us fans.
P.s. Sorry for crashing your servers when all the new teasers came out.
That sounds like it could be. I hope for something along those lines.
Ya, that makes sense. The first publically released cinematic trailer for Diablo III.. builds up to a big "reveal" of.. a hydra.. Not Diablo.
Nevermind that the face looks like Diablo from the new splash screen on the websites. Nevermind the scar like / partially healed over part in his head where the soulstone would be. Nevermind the fact that perhaps the three heads is the result of whatever magic (or merger with other demons) took place to revive him without a soulstone.
I dunno guys, I just think it makes the most sense that it's him. Sorry if you disagree. I won't argue. Just throwing out some thoughts on it. We'll find out in due time.

However, am I right in assuming it will still be free to play online?
Does anyone else think that the purple penguin might be this games "Secret Cow Level"?
Great, thanks.. guess the waiting game begins.
I believe so
The avatars are just down to cut down on bandwidth demand. They'll be back up sometime- more about that here- http://www.diablofans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9110.
Hey mockery, I may not have been on here long... I joined after the domain switch in may. But I've been reading the forums forever. And I plan on coming here on a regular basis to get the latest updates about Diablo. But yeah you rock for having this awesome site for us and we appreciate what you and the rest of the mods have done for us.
Like i said, they're fucking with the lore. Read what i type before quoting me. The 'witch doctor' is nowhere to be found in Diablo lore, afaik.
I love you too <3
