Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. p.s. learn english. it's 'know' not 'no'. and 'you're' ... bah.
Has diablo changed that dramatically at all in the other games?
Demons do not grow new mouths from what I have heard.
And if you speak of the LORE, then when does Diablo undergo a crazy transformation and grow new heads?
Its the third game, they are definitely announcing new demons, like Baal in D2 LOD, new bosses are needed. The story has add ons that we do not know of.
Waiting Until Flower Wither^_^
1)well if that is the case ( which i doubt) it would be lame. unveiling a true form of diablo now that the worldstone is destroyed makes me feel like hes was truly restricted on using his full powers
instead of
2)uhh yeah i could have merged anytime i wanted too... HAHAHAHAH. that would be lame, reminds me of the character development that of Dragonballz...terrible. They had immense power the whole time. its a rip-off.
1 seems like the most logical path theyd take because it follows the destruction of the worldstone and the plot given through the books, and also seems more plausible to believe from a lore side of things.
We don't know if diablo did make it back exactly?
And Tyreal in the fanart looks as if he is being corrupted? Look at the fanart with 4 runes lit up under him, a 5th would fit perfectly and make a pentagram.

Ok what does that mean just because .I joined this month i could have in 2006 bet i don't so its justiciable that just beacause am new to this thread and forum at this moment and time that am a noob now .
it pisses me off bet hey people here can do that sometimes.
If you made a few less spelling errors I MIGHT feel bad for you.
while there is new doubt that new story archs will evolve (such as the new female character that i feel is the apprentice of deckard cain) there are also story archs that have been brought up and not explained. Such as the consequence of destroying the worldstone.
and from last nights announcement the aftermath of the worldstones destruction and tyrael seem to be key parts in the story now.
other points to mention:
1) diablo didnt change that drastically from d1 to d2 because he was only in form on the Mortal Realm due to the soulstone. Since then it has been destroyed along with the worldstone. ( the worldstone is kept to keep heaven/hell from freely entering the Mortal realm, or so the Diablo lore nerds tell us. i have not read the books)
2) Baal was never a new character for Diablo 2 LOD..... are you serious? hes specifically mentioned and shown all throughout the 2nd games story.
Guess what? That's what a noob is; someone who is new to something. Now stfu and use proper grammar, please.
Or at least correct spelling
I want play it now!
actually, tyrael told you that in act 5.
Lolz... thats not fan art
Thats concept art =P
Crap I meant concept, I keep mixing that up, sorry about that one
Lol its cool, I swear I'm not a dick intentionally =P
Either or, that pic of Tyrael looks bad ass, cant wait to see what role he plays in the game, it would be cool if maybe you could do a few quests along side him!
Baal wasn't new in D2 LOD? You saw him in D1? Thats weird... Of course he is in the 2nd games story, it was just an expansion not complete game that revealed him.
Anything could happen in D3, we do not know yet.
And I also believe Deckard Cain is apprenticing the girl, maybe a sorceress girl?
And perhaps she summoned the meteor? She lit candles and it came down, just a thought.
No offense taken, I wrote the wrong thing
And yeh he could be good, could be bad, I really want to know.
I doubt tyrael would be bad... Honestly IMO i think that fallen angel theory about the meteor is a good one, but its definitely not tyrael, and Im sure whoever it is has to do with unleashing diablo upon the world again.
I totally disagree with that. Don't you remember Act 3 of Diablo II at all? It was set in a jungle full of those creepy pygmy things. It is the perfect place for some crazy witch doctors to come from. Broke your claim.
The witch doctor would come from Act 3, Kurast I think it's called?
That actually makes sense good point Prime Evil.
Yeah, I am hoping though that he will also have some more summoning abilities. Zealots or Sextons maybe?
Anyway I also found an interview with Rob Pardo. I can't find the site now, but he confirmed that Diablo will indeed make an appearance in physical form.
