Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!
"It took a good day of calls and emails, but Blizzard just got back to us about the rumor floating around that Starcraft 2 will be announced next month during their World Wide Invitation in Seoul, South Korea.
According to a Korean website, StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D with a new race and lots of changes for existing units. The site went on to say that additional details would be revealed during Blizzard's WWI on May 19th in Seoul.
When reached for comment today this was Blizzard's official response:
We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present.
So that's a yes on a StarCraft 2, eventually, and a yes to a product announcement next month. The only question now is are they one in the same. " -Brian Crecente, from Kotaku.
So what do you guys think? A lot of people still believe it's gonna be Starcraft (which would be fine too because, honestly, who wouldn't love to see that game revisited just as much as Diablo?) but after a statement like that, I'm thinking it's gonna either be an announcement for Diablo 3 or a completely new Blizzard title. If it's not a Diablo or Starcraft game, I'm putting my money on TacoCraft.
Alright, let the speculation begin! May 19th simply cannot come soon enough.

that would make more sense to me, but would make me kinda sad aswell. If there is a Starcraft 2 announced and there is indeed a Starcraft MMO under development, its most likely that the next game to be announced (thinking of BlizzCon) should be the MMO (and not Diablo 3). Thinking that Blizzard wouldnt release a game before at least 2 years pass after the announcement the Starcraft MMO would make even more sense.
(i also read in my favorite gaming magazine about it and i'm somehow convinced it may happen)

Now, this is just a speculation. I do believe that starcraft2 is announced on May 19. However, this statement could mean two things. Either one, they do not know whether or not Starcraft2 will be ready to be announced or Starcraft2 will be announced in the future of 13 days. Idk.
Luckily, there is only 2 more weeks till the event.
WOW! I've been a squire for a while, didn't even notice
they " do not currently have any MMO development plans, and furthermore, we don't have any intentions to focus on only one genre or platform with our future games." [unknown date]
the only thing i dont trust about that is they're notorious for messing with our minds and use words so that it can be interpreted any way possible
I do think the announcement will be starcraft though, because since it's in Korea, releasing D3 would be the equivelant of releasing a Cricket game in the US...Not popular to the general public.
WTF, ok. UM, well I read it
that was after the Vivendi mess that said all Blizzard games would be mmos. Some months ago i think (around summer). Kinda forgot about it lately. Not sure what to believe now, it sure wouldnt make much sense to have an mmo announced when their current makes so good progress.
i'd say its starcraft
but ill be PLEASED if its diablo 3.
And this "nigga" would also be pleased if it's Diablo III
LoL
Give me your address. Not only will I mock you, but I'll punch your teeth in for being such a fucktard.
But anyways, if you really want to fight me over a discussion like this, then you don't have much confidence, do you? Don't have much to be proud of, so you want to threaten me with violence? Well, I'll just wait for you to give me your location and I'll make my position clear. And that position involves my foot in your mouth.
But seriously, I know and you know that you're only making empty threats. So put that thought to rest, as it does not pertain at all to how wrong you are.
If that's the case, then I must inform you that I have no 'fucking idiocy' to apologize for.
Please give me your address so I can mock you in person, or at least send you a letter with a picture enclosed of me flipping you the bird. Oh wait, I don't need to wait (because you're so wrong), nor do I need to mail it to you. Here it is!
Now, you know what I look like. Happy hunting!
Oh yeah? That statement is equivalent to a shoot first, ask questions later, attitude. Seeing as you have no understanding appropriate timing, please take note of what I say, as it is the general consensus that I know more about this subject matter than you do.
Yeah, and lose all the potential money that has yet to be milked out of the first one. They'd lose money if they did all that shit in such a short amount of time. People would immediately drop WoW for WoW2; people who would potentially keep playing until WoW2 would come out much later. If you have no understanding of economics or common sense, then shut the fuck up. Because you have no valid points to make.
Oh man, for someone who doesn't have the slightest idea about simple supply and demand, how should we expect you to know anything about "the gaming industry". Get some credentials and then you may have the honor of speaking to me in a civilized manner.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch Bleach and be better than you.
You rarely tell friends and/or family that you plan to come visit them in the future, but cannot at present.... And already have a trip planned next month. (This is the concept all you Starcraft people say exists which is just senceless.)
Aside from that.... Blizzard's Credability waves byebye if it is Starcraft 2...
It would not be a trick, It would be a flat out deliberate misinterpertation, AKA LIE...
Which wouldn't be uncommon if it happened on a daily basis, But as a single announcement such as this, it means alot.
That makes perfect sense if one rephrases it. The way you say it, it makes it sound like some sort of intangible out-of-body experience.
How so? I fail to see why what product they chose to develop has any bearing on whether we can 'trust' them or not.
Wow. I must say that you seem to have 'lied' yourself, as you have failed to interpret the definition of lie accurately.
Not of them have to do with misinterpretations. There are basically two types of lies. One is when you say something that is not true, or you omit the truth. They have done neither. Blizzard has not lied about anything. They have simply stated it in a fashion that dissuades people from making assumptions about what it is going to be. But I guess Aibo missed that memo.
So, you're saying that lying for your whole life is better than temporarily lying? What kind of ignorant cacophony is that?
The announcement means that Blizzard is going to announce a new product. They didn't want to say anything about Starcraft, but may say something about it later. They are going to announce a new product in 30 days. Now, that doesn't necessarily mean that Starcraft is the new product, it certainly does not exempt it from being on the list of possibilities.
Secondly, if I come and visit my family, that means I will stay with them and they have to account for that. They have to accomodate for my living and plan ahead.
In the example Blizzard is the relative coming to visit, and the customer is the family. But that's not how it goes, it goes the other way. Blizzard has the responsibility here to develop the product and hold timelines etc. but the customer has no such obligations. We either buy it or we don't, and Blizzard doesn't have anything to say in that situation.
