Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!
"It took a good day of calls and emails, but Blizzard just got back to us about the rumor floating around that Starcraft 2 will be announced next month during their World Wide Invitation in Seoul, South Korea.
According to a Korean website, StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D with a new race and lots of changes for existing units. The site went on to say that additional details would be revealed during Blizzard's WWI on May 19th in Seoul.
When reached for comment today this was Blizzard's official response:
We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present.
So that's a yes on a StarCraft 2, eventually, and a yes to a product announcement next month. The only question now is are they one in the same. " -Brian Crecente, from Kotaku.
So what do you guys think? A lot of people still believe it's gonna be Starcraft (which would be fine too because, honestly, who wouldn't love to see that game revisited just as much as Diablo?) but after a statement like that, I'm thinking it's gonna either be an announcement for Diablo 3 or a completely new Blizzard title. If it's not a Diablo or Starcraft game, I'm putting my money on TacoCraft.
Alright, let the speculation begin! May 19th simply cannot come soon enough.
-RoG-
but I think I have big news for you guys.
I am korean. in korea, blizzard korea unofficially announced it will be starcraft2
I am not making rumor. it is from what I read article.
http://news.media.daum.net/digital/it/200705/05/newsis/v16631724.html
if you can read this, or ask to your korean friend.
still small possible(dia, or wow) is alive. but small.
in korea, most people believe it is starcraft2, and blizzard korea didn't say no yet.
I think you guys know already about korean starcraft channel.
you can't imagine that before you see.
in 10~35 ages,
most korean people play starcraft. No.
all korean people play starcraft. Yes.
I am diablo fan, not starcraft. but that doesn't make any change may 19 announce.
*small edit*
judging by how this link of yours looks its more of a public forum/rumor/gaming site than an actual Blizzard page. I dont speak Korean so i have no clue what they say in there but i have the feeling its just like the other links we had about Diablo 3 and had no credibility at all.
Edit: Nevermind, I did my research on the main site. Irvine, Cali.
Agreeing with him and backing him up because he is protecting your hopes, it IS another WoW expansion and a port and there's no way around it.
Nothing can be "too soon" Blizzard could announce WoW 2 on the 19th and have it released 2011.
Announcement doesn't = such and such game releases next week, especially in the gaming industry, it simply means it's a project they intend to finalize and release and let the public know about it and fester.
Muttonchops, you should never say something on a forum that you wouldn't be willing to say to their face, there are people out there that will find you and hurt you. Just a suggestion before you start trying to offend people and act high and mighty again. Coward
Listen, you should go blow your brains out or something.
"it is blizzard 'Starcraft2' confirm"
May 5, someone who working for World Wide Invitational said that it is
starcraft2. and starcraft2 will have 4 kind races. 3 will be same, but one more.
and, no clue about genre,3D
actually, we could guess it is starcraft2.
august they will have Big! blizzcon at USA. therefor(why?), they will announce something at Korea only before 3month.
so far 40% starcraft sold at korea.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is my ugly transate. sorry for bad Eng.
and this news is from very trusted newspaper.
in my opinion,
90% starcraft.
and they saying there is blizzard korea.
http://wwi.blizzard.co.kr/index.html
according to Blizzard official speakers WoW 2 wont happen. Simply because they dont think they'd have something really new with it rather than it wouldnt sell. One thing that shows u have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
and you, throwing insults and threats ON THE INTERNET think yourself different? The exact same thing could be (and is) used against you, so either shut the fuck up or back up your points with LOGIC and COMMON SENSE.
in all of your pathetic posts you lack both.
that's just so stupid ..

StarCraft MMO blasts into orbit!
Saturday 5-May-2007 2:00 PM Blizzard's new sci-fi MMO is set to rock the world later this month, CVG has learned
The long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG can reveal.
Well placed US sources have revealed to us that the StarCraft MMO will be unveiled at an upcoming Blizzard event on May 19 in South Korea - the epicentre of the sci-fi RTS series' rabid fandom.
The unveiling of the new instalment has previously been rumoured for the South Korea event, though we now know that the title is in fact an online spin-off and not a new RTS game as previously assumed.

Of course this is massive news for both Vivendi and the MMO world; Blizzard's other online offering World of Warcraft has topped 6 million subscribers and is arguably the biggest game around today.
The question is, is there room for both World of Warcraft and a StarCraft MMO? The later will have to be a very different type of online game to convince gamers to subscribe to both of Blizzard's pair.
We will of course let you know as soon as soon as Blizzard officially confirms the game on May 19

Inside joke at my high school. I wasn't trying to sound like a smartass even if I am kinda a nerd there.
Last time I checked you were the one insulting him first so shut the fuck up.
Computer and Video Games (CVG) has anonymous sources backing that Blizzard will announce Starcraft MMO at Korea on May 19th. It is still a rumor until Blizzard makes the official announcement. T-minus 14 days, and ticking! Read the full article.
CVG is a very reputable Gaming Editorial Outlet, and they have interviewed Blizzard developers many times. Blizzard has posted job openings in the past years that really trails off people. Now with the intro of Next-Gen MMO and Mobile Job Openings it becomes further more complicated to throw a fit worth of guesses and speculations of what is happening at the Irvine headquarters.
The question to ponder if CVG's claims become reality and there will be a Starcraft MMO ... why was Dustin Browder hired by Blizzard back on March 15, 2005? I posted a speculation article some time ago after he was hired. For those who are not familiar with his name, he was developer of:
Another job opening that backs up an RTS development was posted on 2006 searching for a Game Balance Designer. The highlights of the job opening were:
A fan, MasterBoo, speculates in our forum that to make sense between the RTS job openings and CVG's claim of a Starcraft MMO would be if Starcraft 2 became an RTS with MMO traits. Think of Hellgate: London ... a RPG/FPS as Single Player with a free aspect and a MMO paid subscription aspect. This would justify what Itzik Ben-Basat said in Januray. Blizzard plans to make Battle.net a Broadband High-Bandwidth gaming network.
