^^ so they have somehow taken away your ability to play solo? they've taken away your ability to play story mode? the only argument you even have that can stand on its own two legs is the trading versus no trading, which has solved far more problems than it has created. I don't see anyone at blizzard driving to your house to FORCE you to run rifts, or FORCE you to play with other players. I understand the always online ruins the solo experience for some people but you are in no way FORCED to interact with other human beings. So your major gripe just seems like an entitlement issue because you feel that you're entitled to a story experience that matches adventure mode in optimization of loot finding, which I thought was the whole point of the free lego off of malthael every single time you reset your quests?

I dont understand what the issue is. How about you just play the game instead of worrying about whether you're getting as many legendaries as mathematically possible and just play the game as an enjoyable piece of entertainment (which is exactly what it was created for)? If you're really so obsessed with getting more orange text items over every other person in the entire game then I guess you're just gonna have to sacrifice some of those other things because no matter how hard they try there will always be an optimal way to do things that is not necessarily the most fun.

Sigh.... i miss the late days of Diablo 3 Vanilla with almost no post about this matter. Now these threads "I played for X hours and i got nothing" are growing like mushrooms. Bad luck streaks happens, and even if you got something in that time, maybe that item wasn't of your liking or an upgrade... the next complain will be "I'm not getting upgrades after playing for Y hours?".

Try playing any other ARPGs and you won't get usefull items either in that time you played if the rng is against you, just deal with it. Meaningfull rewards aren't guaranteed ever in this genre, you just have to play the game and sooner or later you will get something.
or in the real world where we aren't all crazy sociopaths (i.e. almost every diablo addict ever) this would be called a gambling addiction. normal people would just quit the game, gambling addicts keep feeding the machine their time and quarters

Playing the Lottery is also RNG...doesnt mean you gonna win it. Ever.

Its a fucking Game, and without Rewards for 1000 Hours of playing, why go thru the hassle at all?
So noone ever wins the Lottery? Also you have played 1000s of hours of RoS? Enjoy the game for what it is. Item hunt, always has and always will be. Its the thrill of the hunt. What would happen if 2 weeks after the expansion you had every item you wanted, then you would complain there is nothing to do and quit playing.
The biggest thing is that there has never been anything to do in Diablo, and only true fans of the ARPG genre are ever going to be able to play Diablo. I think that a lot of people need to just learn that this isn't the genre for them and move on because it's a waste of their time to try to find fun in what is basically nothing but a glorified slot machine that devours time instead of quarters.

Don't you guys feel that the gap between the lucky and the unlucky is too huge? There should be some middle ground or separate option for the players that will NEVER find a set item / decent legendary.

And just because one person finds legendarys every hour doesn't mean the other person does too...

I know several players who find good items every day, and I know other players (who just quit) who grind hours and hours a day and never found anything even remotely decent.

There needs to be a middle ground.
my characters aren't even very well geared and I've gone an entire week without finding a single item that I didn't end up salvaging, and I've only found 2 set items since RoS launched, one was a BT duncraig cross which was instantly salvaged and another was a half decent pair of akkhan boots
The key words being "single item that I didn't end up salvaging." If that's a complaint, then... sorry, but you're still finding legendaries and that's better than some people. Besides, bad legendaries = forgotten souls = improved legendaries that you already have.

Personally, as long as I'm not sitting around doing nothing or just piddling about, I find plenty of legendaries... especially now with the rift buff. I have a strong feeling that those with the low rate of legendaries are probably inept at proper play or proper farming and are simply making poor use of their time.
I said over an entire WEEK of playing, which was release week, meaning I played bare minimum 8 hours a day, and the droprates were still a joke, if you need further proof, I'm on my sixth rift without a single legendary tonight. The problem with my RNG is that it is reliably bad, and out of the 800 hours I put into D3 vanilla I only ever found one good item and it was a mempo that was 1 crit short of being perfect, everything else was garbage that I couldnt even sell on the AH

Damn, how are you doing T1 with 300k dps and 3 mil toughness?!!

My crusader have 500k dps and 8 mil toughness and is so fucking slow in T1 and still can die at elites that I don't even care about T1 yet.
Am I missing something or I'm just too impatient when playing solo? I mean is it normal that if I pass more than 30 sec on elites I give up and consider I'm still not up for T1?
its because the crusader is god awful garbage, I made the mistake of making it my main for RoS and I spent almost 50 hours on him and still can't do shit with him, yet my barbarian is already destroying torment 1 after only being 70 for an hour.

Regardless, I would be glad to see ladders released so people can focus on asking for other features in the game.

Me too. I hope they release ladders, so that more people start supporting us PvPers. I do not want Blizzard to get away with this. They baited with nice PvP, then they didn't deliver.
what do ladders have to do with PvP? there weren't any pvp ladders, the only thing ladders tracked was experience gained

The first impression of the voice is bad indeed, but I think it's something I can bear.

I've expected a much deeper, steady voice though. Something like Liam Neeson in Kingdom of Heaven.
I was hoping for something more like Tyreal tbh :P
    the old tyrael maybe...

I wish these threads would just be autolocked and the OP permanently banned so we could stop hearing these "I'm a hardcore D2 player and I think D3 is shit because" threads. I played a ton of D2 with friends who absolutely loved it, and I hated the hell out of diablo 2. farming for years of my life for 1 zod rune is not my idea of "fun", nor is having random people force into my passworded games with hacking programs to kill the everliving hell out of me 30 times a day to steal all of my stuff and grief me, or being scammed every time I want to trade outside my circle of friends for something none of us had. I could go on for days about how terrible Diablo 2 actually was but some people are just far too jaded to see the truth.

Ladder does not add longevity, or ANYTHING positive to the game experience for that matter. Ladder was a cheap, lazy cop out for the developers of Diablo 2 to completely reset the economy and wipe characters every couple of months so that they didn't have to address the REAL issue which was lack of endgame and an abysmal economy due to the fact that ladder prevented ANYONE from getting there in the first place.
True; however the concept of endgame never existed till MMO's.... the Diablo series has never had an end game, it was always about killing things to get loot and people were fine with it till now.... The only people I've ever seen complain about lack of end game are people who played WoW and played Diablo because it was a blizzard game.

I could also say be happy the developers even did anything because they have no obligation to do so. People seem to take for granted that additional content that Blizzard provides for free is expected where as many people charge for such things. It's a game chill the fuck out,
where do you see that I need to "chill the fuck out"? I'm pointing out my opinion and you're squealing like a child because it isn't the same as yours? and then go so far as to call me a "WoW kiddie who has never played any other Diablo?" I've been playing diablo for 10 years, why the hell else would I even be here? this community is just so pathetically jaded by its past that its sickening to watch as you tools lash out at anyone who doesn't want "DIABLO 2.5"

First of all, I'll warn you that I don't think you'll be getting a very warm reception for a post like this. It just comes across as a thinly veiled "D3 sucks, POE rules" post. Especially if your understanding of D3's mechanics is so shallow that you don't understand why certain stats were tweaked.

But, I think it's interesting to talk about PoE, so I'll answer.

I played PoE for about 4 hours, so I imagine you'll tell me I didn't give it enough of a chance, but I stopped because it's boring. It reminds me a lot of Titan's Quest in terms of how it feels when I'm playing, which wasn't bad but wasn't exciting like D2. Similarly, the combat in D3 is just way more exciting that PoE. D3 Barb's Furious Charge, for example, feels way better than the Shield Charge gem I had.

Speaking of, I was immediately turned off by the fact that certain skills require certain weapons to work. It was frustrating to have to give up using a cool 2-handed club because the Cleave gem requires bladed weapons. I also hated the gem-skill system in general; having to re-gem my gear every time I put on a new item was a pain in the ass.

Having to chug potions again was also lame, although I thought it was cool that the potions could have stats.

And finally the skill tree system they have for passives is just a mess. I wasn't interested in sitting down and reading everything to try and actually plot a course so I just went step by step, not looking very far down the line. I didn't find anything especially cool, just +10% damage, +5% dual wield damage, etc. etc., and was turned off when I was getting to the point where I had these dual wield bonuses that were useless if I found a cool 2-hander.
Definitely a valid point that D3's combat feels a lot better. The graphics work very well in D3, and its definitely the game's strongest point.

I really like the flasks in PoE, there are so many different kinds with different bonuses that they can really change how your character plays. Like Granite flasks, for example, give 3000 armor for a short duration. These are great for squishy characters who don't have armor on their gear. Instead you give up a flask spot and now have a skill/timing based ability to give yourself armor in sketchy situations.

The passive tree is really overwhelming at first. But once you learn where all the big keystones are, it starts to make more sense. There is definitely a big learning curve there though that is unkind to new players.

I really like the skill gem and support gem combinations. It allows a lot of freedom in creating new abilities and changing how your character functions.
but ultimately, every single character functions exactly the same. The only difference in the class you choose at the start of the game is what end of the tree you start at. the game still has cookie cutter setups, and anybody can reach the middle of the tree within their first 10-15 levels. the passive system is actually pretty shallow and for a game that is held up on a pedestal for being endlessly customizable in build/gear setup, the build/gear setup is actually the most restrictive part of the game!

And on the topic of it being a "true successor to D2" or whatever the PoE community thinks, its more of a dumbed down and refined version of some of the earlier final fantasy ARPGs than anything. just because a game has ladders and trading doesn't make it Diablo 2. Poe tries TOO hard to be vulgar, disgusting, and dark and doesn't succeed at anything but throwing sensory overloading amounts of gore at you, its not very horror-centric like Diablo 2 was. The storyline is forgettable and the atmosphere the game creates gets pretty bland after a couple hours of playing, particularly the whole "game is trying to be dark but goes too far into grimdark 40k levels of high fantasy", and that's coming from a huge 40k fan. Most importantly though, is that the world is nothing. I don't care about the world of PoE because its not worth exploring, its not rich in story/lore, and lacks in environmental creativity. Why should I ever even attempt to play the game if I really don't know/care why im there in the first place?

I have my own problems with Diablo 3, but I will go out on a limb to say its a great successor to the series even if I never liked Diablo 2 to begin with! I played it for years because all the neighborhood kids played it that I was friends with.
