^^ so they have somehow taken away your ability to play solo? they've taken away your ability to play story mode? the only argument you even have that can stand on its own two legs is the trading versus no trading, which has solved far more problems than it has created. I don't see anyone at blizzard driving to your house to FORCE you to run rifts, or FORCE you to play with other players. I understand the always online ruins the solo experience for some people but you are in no way FORCED to interact with other human beings. So your major gripe just seems like an entitlement issue because you feel that you're entitled to a story experience that matches adventure mode in optimization of loot finding, which I thought was the whole point of the free lego off of malthael every single time you reset your quests?

I dont understand what the issue is. How about you just play the game instead of worrying about whether you're getting as many legendaries as mathematically possible and just play the game as an enjoyable piece of entertainment (which is exactly what it was created for)? If you're really so obsessed with getting more orange text items over every other person in the entire game then I guess you're just gonna have to sacrifice some of those other things because no matter how hard they try there will always be an optimal way to do things that is not necessarily the most fun.

Sigh.... i miss the late days of Diablo 3 Vanilla with almost no post about this matter. Now these threads "I played for X hours and i got nothing" are growing like mushrooms. Bad luck streaks happens, and even if you got something in that time, maybe that item wasn't of your liking or an upgrade... the next complain will be "I'm not getting upgrades after playing for Y hours?".

Try playing any other ARPGs and you won't get usefull items either in that time you played if the rng is against you, just deal with it. Meaningfull rewards aren't guaranteed ever in this genre, you just have to play the game and sooner or later you will get something.
or in the real world where we aren't all crazy sociopaths (i.e. almost every diablo addict ever) this would be called a gambling addiction. normal people would just quit the game, gambling addicts keep feeding the machine their time and quarters

Playing the Lottery is also RNG...doesnt mean you gonna win it. Ever.

Its a fucking Game, and without Rewards for 1000 Hours of playing, why go thru the hassle at all?
So noone ever wins the Lottery? Also you have played 1000s of hours of RoS? Enjoy the game for what it is. Item hunt, always has and always will be. Its the thrill of the hunt. What would happen if 2 weeks after the expansion you had every item you wanted, then you would complain there is nothing to do and quit playing.
The biggest thing is that there has never been anything to do in Diablo, and only true fans of the ARPG genre are ever going to be able to play Diablo. I think that a lot of people need to just learn that this isn't the genre for them and move on because it's a waste of their time to try to find fun in what is basically nothing but a glorified slot machine that devours time instead of quarters.

    Quote from inzynier_osamix

Your problem is you following your friends. When I play, I'm the leader, because I'm the slowest, I'm always in the front and they run behind me, kill what's left of the mobs, open chests and stuff. It works just fine.
Besides, in Rifts, the mob density is so big, there's no place to run freely. Plus, with Torment level high enough you don't one hit everything, you'll always have time to catch up if by any chance team runs off.
    Quote from Samurro

DONT USE HEAVENS STRENGTH, if you are to stupid to keep up with 10% movement speed + steed. HOLY CHRIST.

I am really going insane, reading all this bullshit about the lack of mobility for crusader. If you feel that way, WHY do you use heavens strength? Because you would feel inferior dmg wise then? Get your shit together, you can't have BOTH.
    Quote from irie009

All I hear is retarded crying, this class has more than enough mobility to counteract the loss of 15% move speed, I can still pull well over 1 bill per hour in torment 3 solo, and with my group in t4 we clear rifts in about 20-30 mins average. Like people have stated, being the leader of the party with everyone following you is very helpful. We honestly dont even notice it.
and how much damage are you people actually doing? not every one of us have a group of friends to rush us through the game and carry us on our shoulders. I'll bet all of you are the ones playing a crusader and are the "leaders of your party" because you're just a damageless meatshield buffbot that can't do anything without vastly improving the damage output of your party members while you stare at the floor looking for legendaries. I immediately leveled a crusader starting at 11:56 EDT on march 24 and was level 70 in 6 hours of playtime, and have put almost 60 hours into my crusader so far and can vouch for all of the complaints here. The crusader is COMPLETELY WORTHLESS at doing ANYTHING. this is coming from someone who has a 3K DPS Zweihander and 9.5 million toughness and I still struggle to get through torment 1 at a fast pace, and am annihilated on torment 2 when going up against most elite packs.

The fact of the matter is that the crusader deals NO DAMAGE without the heavenly strength passive, and even then all you're good for is bursting down targets with LONG INTERVALS of complete uselessness. Also, the shield always being required is NOT AN EXCUSE to not give the crusader 30% damage reduction as my freshly leveled barbarian with 4 million toughness TEARS THROUGH torment 1 like its NOTHING. The crusader class is just a massively underpowered joke and needs some serious help.

Don't you guys feel that the gap between the lucky and the unlucky is too huge? There should be some middle ground or separate option for the players that will NEVER find a set item / decent legendary.

And just because one person finds legendarys every hour doesn't mean the other person does too...

I know several players who find good items every day, and I know other players (who just quit) who grind hours and hours a day and never found anything even remotely decent.

There needs to be a middle ground.
my characters aren't even very well geared and I've gone an entire week without finding a single item that I didn't end up salvaging, and I've only found 2 set items since RoS launched, one was a BT duncraig cross which was instantly salvaged and another was a half decent pair of akkhan boots
The key words being "single item that I didn't end up salvaging." If that's a complaint, then... sorry, but you're still finding legendaries and that's better than some people. Besides, bad legendaries = forgotten souls = improved legendaries that you already have.

Personally, as long as I'm not sitting around doing nothing or just piddling about, I find plenty of legendaries... especially now with the rift buff. I have a strong feeling that those with the low rate of legendaries are probably inept at proper play or proper farming and are simply making poor use of their time.
I said over an entire WEEK of playing, which was release week, meaning I played bare minimum 8 hours a day, and the droprates were still a joke, if you need further proof, I'm on my sixth rift without a single legendary tonight. The problem with my RNG is that it is reliably bad, and out of the 800 hours I put into D3 vanilla I only ever found one good item and it was a mempo that was 1 crit short of being perfect, everything else was garbage that I couldnt even sell on the AH

My crusader have 500k dps and 8 mil toughness and is so fucking slow in T1 and still can die at elites that I don't even care about T1 yet.
Am I missing something or I'm just too impatient when playing solo? I mean is it normal that if I pass more than 30 sec on elites I give up and consider I'm still not up for T1?
its because the crusader is god awful garbage, I made the mistake of making it my main for RoS and I spent almost 50 hours on him and still can't do shit with him, yet my barbarian is already destroying torment 1 after only being 70 for an hour.

posted a message on Yet another opinion on the "none trading"
    Quote from shaggy
    Quote from Strafir

How is it possible that people are this thick headed. How many times do users here and on reddit need to shoot down every single "suggestion" on how to make this work before you understand that it simply isn't doable, and that there is a better fucking solution that is already implemented.
Just because you repeat the same arguments over and over again doesn't make them true.

Particularly that they can't "balance" drops if trading is enabled. They can. All they have to do is balance drops so that self-found is enjoyable and let the idiots who want to trade their way to the top do so. The game isn't competitive so the line of thinking that "someone might get ahead, so trading is bad" is just a bunch of bullshit propagated by people who are so anti-trading that they don't even know what they're ranting about anymore.

The only thing that Blizzard should concern themselves with is "if someone doesn't trade, is the game fun?" If the answer is "yes" then who cares if Kripp's 10,000 nuthuggers give him gear and he "wins" the game in a week? If that defines your enjoyment of the game then you have some really deep psychological issues.

They didn't take that question seriously with vanilla and it forced everyone into the AH. They haven't taken that question seriously with RoS and we have the other extreme. If it were IMPOSSIBLE (your word, not mine) to make a successful ARPG where trading was allowed that means that D1, D2, D3 vanilla, PoE, TL1, TL2, and Darkstone were all unsuccessful.

As a note, I disagree that RoS is inherently more fun. As BigEd noted in another thread, the BoA thing has basically made yellow the new blue. Yellow items, because they're tradable, are generally pretty terrible. All we're doing now is running around looking for orange/green lightshafts because of the "if it can be traded then it can't have any value on a 3rd party site" idiocy that has pervaded the community. The game is more fun when I find a legendary, but the fact that yellows are now basically salvage fodder and not anything more than a small stepping stone is NOT a step forward, it's a big step backwards in itemization... and it's tied directly to this ridiculous anti-trading crusade that people like you have waged.

Basically all BoA has served to do is make anything that isn't orange/green useless outside of leveling up. Yeah the legendaries are cooler, but any drop that isn't orange/green is staggeringly boring. So for all the good they've done, they've also done significant harm.
I generally agree with your posts shaggy but this time you are wrong. as soon as ladders hit the competitive disease that gnaws away at the game will start and players will find any advantage they possibly can and exploit it to the point of no return, like torment 6 Chest farming that all those streamers were doing, or Mira runs, or that one bugged cursed chest event. And those were done without any competitive system being placed in the game, as soon as ladders hit, it will be unfathomably worse.

If they break the BoA, we're back to AH days again, except this time it's offsite real money only. Bots will run to get stuff to sell on there as well. No. Let's just not go back there.
Please don't bring up 3rd party sites. Most people aren't willing to go to a shady 3rd party site where it's much easier to be scammed. It wouldn't be anything like the AH at all. It would be much less widespread, and there would be relatively few people using those sites. The only reason the AH ruined the economy in such a quick way was because ti was guarenteed. You couldn't be scammed, or cheated it was official. That made it much more agreeable to use by the populace. Something like d2jsp won't be that big compared to D3's AH. I never used D2 jsp once playing D2 and I was fine, most people would feel the same way with D3. It just isn't a necessity when you can farm your own gear, and trade. There wouldn't be an incentive to use them.
    this :D
this is horribly false, growing up playing D2 with a bunch of friends around the ages of 11-13 they ALL went to third party sites to buy gear and NEVER regretted it. It's simply ignorant to claim that people are "too afraid" of third party sites when people will do absolutely anything to get ahead in a competitive scene such as D2 ladders were. I was the only person in my large group of gaming friends that never even went to such a site because I was so new to diablo and really didn't like it as much as my friends did who were all hopelessly obsessed with it like a bunch of gambling addicts.

I don't see D3 have ladders like D2 did in terms of ladder only items. I have a feeling it will be all geared toward epeen points in the form of special dyes..banners, character portraits, etc.

As far as everything being BoA, even if it wasn't trading would be garbage because there is no format in the game for it besides spamming in trade chat. You can't even made trading games like in D2. At this point its not even a big deal anymore. Someone elses gear DOES NOT and SHOULD NOT affect your game play experience.
but with ladders, other players gear WILL affect your play experience if you so choose to participate in the ladder because of the competitive aspect of it, which is why competition ruins the actual spirit of the diablo genre.

I really don't get the hate here. BOA is and always will be a very extreme response to something the Diablo 3 vanilla dev team fucked up themselves. I'm not saying it doesn't have its perks and I totally understand their reasoning behind putting it in. However, having said that I think it's extreme and should be toned down. Currently as the game stands, playing solo or with 1 or 2 more people is Sub par, in terms of drops, simply because BoA. Yeah, BoA KILLS SP. The advantages of playing in a group are so astoundingly high right now (EXP, Drop, Legendary trading, Difficulty Scaling) that it's kind of pointless to play solo at all.

Second friends... I know this doesn't seem that big, but me and my friend have been playing D3 since it came out. We USUALLY play together, although sometimes we will play separately due to time constraints. In the event this does happen, and he or I find a legendary we can't share it with the other even though It might benefit him more than me. Before anyone says "So you just want to rush" NO... We are friends and we give each other good items when we find them. We see who benefits more and dole out the Legendary accordingly. Think of it as a pool of legendaries that are split between us both. It's not about rushing or giving away items so we can "feed" one guy, It's called being friendly. This is completely shut out by BOA though, and It annoys me to no end. I don't really understand why they didn't implement a friends list trading or clan trading in the first place.

Randomization of Loot. Doesn't seem like a big deal, right? Until you never get the item you want. There are two ways you can go about this. Drop a Leg, remove it from your leg drop pool, or you could have any leg drop at any time, when a leg drops. There are flaws in each. With the first way you have to cycle through every legendary to refind the legendary you're after and it could take a while to get all the legendaries multiple times to find the "best" one. The second way means you aren't ever guaranteed a legendary you want, thus resulting in you possibly taking months to find the legendary to complete your build. I don't think it should take months to find a single item. That's just me though, I understand that legendaries should be difficult to find and hard to complete a build... but waiting months for an item, a single item, isn't reasonable at all. Trading doesn't even negate you working towards items either so that whole rebuttal is moot. You'd never be able to trade a leg for a magic, so you'd have to trade an equally valuable leg to even get the one you want, that is after you've joined a game with someone who has found the leg you want and wants the leg you have. So honestly i really don't see a point in this not happening.

Botters will be in the game anyway. They always have been they always will be. Just simple as that. The black market in D2 wasn't as far and wide reaching as everyone thinks either. You could legitimately find your own items no help needed from Black market sites, and it worked fine WITH TRADING. the only reason so many CC warriors showed up during D3 vanilla, was because there was a safe fast and OFFICIAL transaction place where you couldn't be scammed or cheated. You'd feel safe on the RMAH, where as on some black market sites you aren't guaranteed reception of the item you've purchased, this will drive many many people away from those sites.

People will always find ways to cheat the system, hell I can still just go buy a D3 account with Plvl 200 and 10 billion gold if I really wanted to, all they've done is make it slightly harder while slighting most of the economy in the process. I really hope they change it ever so slightly to at least accommodate for some of these problems but I doubt it... Just my 2¢
well if all of you D2 obsessionists want ladders so badly, then the necessity of BoA is REQUIRED to keep the competitive aspect of it fair so that players can't buy gear from third party sites or have their clans farm buttloads of gear for them

posted a message on Hardcore's look at the current state of Diablo - How to make this game more appealing? Ladders are simply not enough.
    Quote from Eibon

I agree about the Torment achievements, as it stands you only have to clear everything on T1 and you're done achievement-wise, there's absolutely no incentive to even step into T6 on hardcore... even if they introduce T6 only achievements for hardcore there's another problem that arises, right now you can clear the game on Normal then jump straight into Torment at any quest step and act, which means you could clear up to Malthael, set the last quest at T6 and just kill the end boss.

The only solution I can think of is having separate progression in each difficulty, meaning if you clear it on T1 you have to start all over in T2 (having it for all difficulties starting from Normal is a tad too extreme in my opinion).

Do make a thread about this on the official forum, it deffo needs the attention. :)
and THIS is exactly why competition is the greatest poison to our world. So instead of clearing the game 4 times, which literally had people up in ARMS screaming and wailing like children, you want them to have to clear it SEVEN TIMES? my sweet gentle lord.
