This is unreal. People often complained that grouping sucked and there was no reason to ever do so, and now people are complaining that grouping shouldn't be as viable an option as running solo. People complained that the game sucked because there was no reason to ever socialize or go beyond playing with your follower. Now Blizzard has heard your cries and made grouping fun, fast, and efficient.
What more do you want?
You don't need to play 14 hours a day to make grouping worthwhile. I jump into agame with friends, play for an hour, go to bed. I get replaced as quickly as I jumped in and things carry on. Stop worrying about other people and play the game for your own enjoyment. I accept that I'll never catch up to Morikiopa, Modz, etc in Paragon levels or possibly even their gear levels because of their lifestyle/playstyle. Oh boo hoo, life goes on, but I'm still enjoying the time I have in-game.

Bagstone posted a message on Is Loot 2.0 > Loot 1.0?I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would prefer loot 1.0. I think loot 2.0 is awesome.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
- Do I use a lot of cooldown spells? I want cooldown reduction.
- Am I using a single element? I want some +elemental damage.
- Is my main damage coming from one spell? I want some +skills damage.
- Do I gain benefits from having a critical hit? I want +crit chance.
- Is my resource consumption too high? Maybe I should reduce attack speed.
- Does it feel like I'm too slow with my attacks? Let me ramp up attack speed.
- Am I too squishy? Let me get some more toughness.
- Is my health globe slowly (but only slowly) going down in long boss fights? Time to get some more healing.
- Am I running out of Arcane Power? Let me get APoC on helmet/orb and more crit chance.
- Do I need more life? Let me grab a helmet with a socket.
I have an entire stash of equip to switch all the time, and from my beta experience I know it's just gonna get even crazier come RoS (right now every wizard wants to go single element, with Elemental Exposure there will be a million new builds since multi-elemental becomes a very valid option; and I haven't even talked about the necessity to have four different weapon types in your stash because their elements contribute to EE, too).

Rasako posted a message on Is this Diablo anymore?I wish these threads would just be autolocked and the OP permanently banned so we could stop hearing these "I'm a hardcore D2 player and I think D3 is shit because" threads. I played a ton of D2 with friends who absolutely loved it, and I hated the hell out of diablo 2. farming for years of my life for 1 zod rune is not my idea of "fun", nor is having random people force into my passworded games with hacking programs to kill the everliving hell out of me 30 times a day to steal all of my stuff and grief me, or being scammed every time I want to trade outside my circle of friends for something none of us had. I could go on for days about how terrible Diablo 2 actually was but some people are just far too jaded to see the truth.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Bagstone posted a message on Is this Diablo anymore?Well, the answer is yes.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
And why? Because you're using "Diablo" as a synonym for "my way of playing Diablo 2". The franchise "Diablo" is much more as just the narrow view of Diablo 2 that you provide in your summary.
- Diablo 1 had no skill trees, Diablo 3 has no skill trees.
- Diablo 1 had no PvP. Diablo 3 has "some" PvP (if you like Brawling or not, it's a start) and will probably get PvP eventually, once PvE is perfectly balanced.
- You can make a claim that BoA goes too far, but not the way you do it. Trading was never something that casuals did in D2, most people never traded publicly in D2 (we covered that discussion a million times). And it is just not true that if player A trades, it doesn't affect player B; the opposite is true, as the auction house was the reason why drop rates were so insanely low, eventually forcing everyone into using it. Trading was a major part of the game for some people in D2; in D3V, trading (i.e., using the AH) was more important to success than actually playing the game. With eradicating that ill-designed development, D3 went back to the franchise's core purpose (killing monsters).
- How terribly bad D3 would be if it didn't have "online only" is something you can see by looking at D3 for consoles. Btw, it's interesting that oftentimes the more competitive players (those who like trading and PvP) bring this online-only concern up: if the game had an offline mode, any competition would be dead by default (again, look at console). I elaborated on the importance of online-only for D3 here.
TL;DR: Reaper of Souls is more a Diablo game than Diablo 2 ever was.
Also dig up shaggy's posts in the past few weeks, he made some good points, too (maybe he'll summarize it again for you), linking to an interview of the people who actually invented the franchise.
What you envision as "the real Diablo" is neither what Blizzard has in mind, nor the inventors of the game, and probably not what the majority of players would agree with. -

Bagstone posted a message on Pre 2.0 Legendaries Worth Buying Before RoSThat list was made many many times, and I can just keep saying: Don't. Nothing will last long on level 70, not even Witching Hour (I never replaced it during beta, but did already now on live, at least for my lightning build). Old Frostburn gloves? The 30% damage increase does not at all justify the loss of 500 int and trifecta stats. Mempo? Will be replaced on day one for most people, even if you have a crit Mempo.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Just don't spend any money on any of these. Actually, don't spend any money on any pre-patch items at all. You'll regret it. -

Zero(pS) posted a message on Why I am (not) buying the expansion"All the drops on the AH were from players."Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Nope, bots can id and sell items too.HC also has a ton of bots. Some famous streamers were known botters and managed to garner a couple hundred million from those every week/month.
All this conversation is pointless either way.
It doesn't matter where the items came from, the fact is for the majority of the playerbase (which doesnotplay the game 70 hours/week) the AH serves only as a way to remind them how far behind the power curve they really are. And how only those who play the game 24/7 and bots/botters (as well as those who pay real money) are the ones with the slight real chance of getting the really good items. It is also argued this fact influences drop rates, so the whole "ignore it, doesn't affect you" mantra doesn't really serve in this situation.
Whether you can accept that or not, it's your own choice.
Either way, you'll have to deal with the fact the devs have already had this conversation probably for a couple hundred hours and made up their minds a long, long time ago. -

Bagstone posted a message on Few questions about PTR for players who played a lot of PTR (No Ros beta but PTR)You're stuck in the wrong thinking. You don't go to only one or two areas, ignoring 90% of the game, in the search for maximum efficiency. You go to wherever the bounties take you. Yes yes, you can actually play and enjoy the full game, unbelievable, isn't it.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion -

Bagstone posted a message on Why I am (not) buying the expansionI'm sorry - I know it sounds harsh - but I'm not that sad if people leave the Diablo universe who mention as their #1 reason their disappointment of not being able to make money out of the game anymore.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
"Trading that what's people want"? In my opinion, the number one thing that most people want in games is having fun. I don't know anyone personally who bought Diablo as an investment vehicle (which is, btw, against the ToS anyways). Since the game is non-competitive, I wouldn't care so much if people go down that route; in D2 and WoW there were people who made money as well, but it didn't have an impact on the rest of the pack. In D3, this development had repercussions on those people who just played the game out of enjoyment, ultimately killing the fun for almost all of us (except for those who played the AH, not the game, and cashed out thousands of dollars).
I say: Having fun smashing demons is what people want. And all the "economy" sh*t in D3V got way out of hand and killed the fun for many people. Not sad to see that go at all. When the strict BoA rules for RoS were presented I was shocked at first, too, but after some months of beta I honestly believe it's the best thing they've done for the franchise in a long time. RoS will not be everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people will be surprised how much fun it is to actually just play the game and find upgrades yourself. -

Jamoose posted a message on Why I am (not) buying the expansionThis is just beating the same old dead horse over and over. Trading is gone because it is inherently flawed in a way that it creates a breeding ground for scams, 3rd party websites, bots, etc, etc. The new systems like smart loot, rifts, bounties, blood shards, are all there to remove the need for trading. Play with your close friends if you want to be able to share items with them.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
You wanted betting on pvp with gold and you didn't get it, boo hoo. Guess what, nobody cares.
"trading thats what people want" Oh really? Well i guess you are wrong then because not everybody feels so strongly about trading. Personally i couldn't care less. I was a bit hesitant at first, but when i saw what they are doing with the ptr / beta, i just accepted it. I probably sound like a total asshole but again, nobody cares dude, seriously this topic got so old so fast. Just don't buy the game and good luck with your life.
And don't tell me i need to go play d2 because i can basically teach you all about it. -

And I believe it stacks 5 times. You still only get the 25% bonus XP, but the amount of XP until it expires grows.Quote from CardinalMDM
Real easy...and they're on the PTR, too, not just the beta...I love those things.
They appear as yellow pools, in spots where a healing well would be, though they appear much rarer than you'll see healing wells. When you "drink" them, you gain a flat increase of 25% XP until you gain a certain amount of XP via the buff...and it goes away when that character dies. Meaning, your Barb can't drink a pool, then you log in with your Monk and he gets extra XP as well. However, it does last beyond logout. So if your Barb gets one, and didn't expire the XP buff when you logout...when you log in with your Barb again, it'll still be there. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

1. is obvious, so I won't spend time there. 2. has a little more depth to it, since there are a couple ways that you can do this effectively. The first way is to play the PTR and provide constructive feedback on the state of the game. This does not mean you go in there and get mad that you don't like certain features and rant. Rather, you breakdown what you don't like and construct it into a meaningful snippet of information for the developers. For example, "I don't like the new crusader belt because it doesn't do enough damage." versus "I don't think that the internal cooldown on Bombardment is low enough to make me feel like this belt competes with other options like the Witching Hour or Harrington's."
The second way is to participate in constructive discussion in the Battle.net forums. The devs look for feedback in threads, polls, workshops, etc. Giving detailed feedback in a neutral manner is what they gravitate to for making improvements to the game. Comments like "the changes to items and affixes etc, are just a sign that no one really truly cares about this game and its future" are the types of things that don't provide any value to the conversation. If they didn't care about the game, then you would not be getting anything else added to it. Rather, they would like to hear how you think the game play can be improved through constructive ideation.
Also, saying something like "it takes to do these upgrades is very little, especially with a team of people working on it" is extremely naive. As someone who works very close with software developers, graphics designers, and user experience teams, I can tell you that things you may feel are trivial could be much more difficult to implment once you get into the details. Some could be easy, but some could be difficult so I would make assumptions on their ability to apply changes without having extensive knowledge of their processes and code.
Bagstone also made some good points about balance. Right now, you're pretty much screwed if you're a monk. If you're a barb or DH, then you're at the top. Bringing all the classes into close alignment is what is needed to ensure the replayability of the game. As we gain new items and classes, that becomes much harder to balance, but that is why Blizzard also uses GRifts for calibration of how people are performing. The changes to conduit and gear set bonuses are a clear demonstration that they are acting on the data they have received.
We are light years ahead of where we started and the game is only getting better. We just have to continue to earn the changes we wish to see. To quote Gandhi, "If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him."

1. Disable potion pickup.
2. Auto-pickup crafting mats and gems.
3. Auto-salvage on pick-up. This would work when taking items from Kadala also.
Option 1: White only
Option 2: Blue and lower
Option 3: Yellow and under.
I would rather spend more time killing stuff than running around and clicking on gems, mats, etc.

1. "It's the copy of my battlenet's post, just want more ppl to pay attention to this thread, ty." Link to battle.net thread? I'm suspicious of people who say this without providing a link. Chances are the thread was closed by a mod.
2. "First of all, most of us who managed to complete grs like 37+, every time must repeat the way from gr like 34-36 to one they needed. " I agree that something needs to be improved to tie character progression together. My thought is that the trial rift really should be a one time thing until a character completes a grift. Then the level that they can't complete should be where they always start when they spawn a new grift. However, you should be able to entry the trial again if you want to "reset" your beginning grift level. Overall, I don't think this a major problem, as it only takes 10 minutes to get back to your Grift level anyways.
3. "Guys who have any friends, who can boost them to get high tier gr keystones..." Yes, that's just a benefit of being social in the game, but not exclusive to group play if you have high solo skills.
4. "And another subject that i want to describe is legendary gems improve system. Watch the top players of the solo leaderboards in every class. Watch their gems. Level 40 - 45+. And how they could improve them solo?" The gems have a small chance for upgrade to a certain point. They either got lucky or used a group to hit a higher tier to upgrade. If they used a group, I don't care because that is another benefit of being social in game.
5. " And why the hell after that the leaderboard CALLED SOLO? What they are doing solo? " They are on the leaderboard because they can take a down a rift with no other players in the group. That can still be hard to do even with upgraded "group" gems at higher rift tiers.
6. "...this game is too much multiplayer oriented like wow and other mmos, where u cant get any cool stuff alone." Sorry, but I call total BS on this one. I play 99% solo (truly solo) and I can get a lot out of this game. I actually prefer the challenge of playing solo to that of group play.
7. "I will w8 couple weeks for any patches or hotfixex of trials system, but if they'll not pay attention to this problem, i'll left the game. There is no sense for me to play this game just for fun." Isn't the whole point of playing a game to do it for fun? If it isn't fun, then walk on out the door and find something else. I'm sick of people threatening to leave because they don't like a feature of the game. Less entitled people puts a lower load on the servers. Don't let the door hit ya' where the good lord split ya'!

Each player has an account ID in which their items are associated to them in a database. Each item dropped also needs a unique ID for the stats allocated to it's rolls. Also, those items relate back to character IDs if they are equipped, stashed, or in "backpack". You could imagine how large this database would be With millions of players owning hundreds of unique items.
Limiting the number of tabs and storage for each character is a way for them to forecast and scale their storage and compute needs and control the cost of the project. This isn't WoW, where they have a continuous revenue stream to drive development costs. Their revenue is incurred by a one-time purchase of the software package. This means that they have to pick and choose their battles for development between items which delight the current customer base and activities that could bring in future revenue, such as expansions. They could add a ton of tabs for storage, but then they would be spending money on building out their database capacity instead of spending that money on development resources for new features or content.
Blizzard makes great games, but they are also a business. If they don't perform this balancing act well, then they will lose their ability to make the games we all love to play. Would I love more space? Absolutely, but I also want another expac, improvements in GRifts, new legs, etc. Overall, I think that they have done a decent job with D3.

2. The monsters are no more annoying to me than those in Act IV.
3. Grift density is a bug that they are looking into addressing.
