I started with a full defensive CM build with Crystal Shell, Prismatic Armor, and the CD reduction rune on frost nova, as well as Cold Blooded, CM, and Evocation as passives that were unchanged throughout. I took the fight time and my char sheet dps to compute the DPS Multiplier, which is the effective dps gain of the build. For example, at 100k dps using the full defensive build I would expect an effective dps of 247k. I also computed relative DPS of each spec meaning switching from Prismatic to Storm Armor increased dps by about 36%.
And in case there's any confusion, 'x' in the table means that skill was used.

The interesting information is that Storm Armor is about a 36% dps gain over prismatic armor. When you add Shocking Aspect it's a 65% dps gain over prismatic armor and about a 36% dps gain over pinpoint barrier. Adding Diamond Shards further increases the dps gain but it's only about a 4% dps gain by itself when you use Shocking Aspect. The dramatic decrease in survivability for the fight makes it very not worthwhile, but that could easily change depending on the fight. Rak for example, would probably be just fine with DS or prism.
I also expect the values for Shocking Aspect to be dependent of crit and attack speed, since it only procs on crits and higher attack speed should lead to more procs from WW, so with 50% crit, I'd expect the damage to increase by about 16%, or I'd expect the total dps gain to be about 90%, for a relative dps of 1.9. With a crit % of 52% I would expect Shocking Aspect to double your dps over prismatic armor, roughly speaking, with the same APS of 1.965 or so.
For reference, my stats at the time of the data collection were 104k dps buffed (110k with pinpoint), 1.965 attacks per second, 20 APoC, 1298 LoH, 1.5% Life Steal, 641 resist all and 4588 armor unbuffed, with 40.5k hp and 43% crit with Scoundrel. I also had about 400 life per second regen, just to complete the stats.

Streaming Blizzcon events will get you banned. In previous years it wasn't enforced that much, but last year many streamers got banned (at least temporarily) for streaming Blizzcon events that were exclusive to the virtual ticket. So don't count on that (there will of course be streams, as illegal streams are a thriving business).
Obviously, since this an illegal activity we would also like everyone to keep it to themselves and not promote those things on our forums. Thanks.
Angzt will live ticker all Diablo-related events on our frontpage as usual. I will probably buy the Virtual Ticket because why not - some of the other events are also fun to watch.

This is a GREAT idea! So great, in fact, that I implemented it right away. I've also added another feature: you can generate a link to share your progress.
Admittedly, this might not be that interesting to show off your progress; but it might prove helpful in a group when you want your others to know what's missing without going over it one by one item. The main reason why I did this though is to be able to transfer your progress from one PC to another. You can create the link (click on the share button at the bottom), and when you open the link on a different computer/browser you click on the "store" button at the bottom to add all the data into your local storage. There's a popup, of course, to avoid overwriting your progress with someone's else's.

As he said, there's nothing we can do about it, but it's an overaggressive filter by the public "ad" lists. The developers have reported those issues but apparently those lists have not been updated yet.
(I might bump this thread on a semi-regular basis because this issue is affecting people's ability to join conversations on DFans, which of course at the time of season restart is particularly bad timing.)

Both are viable. Provide more context.
Both choices have pros and cons. In the end, this game is so well-balanced that the differences are close to nothing compared to other ARPGs. You should choose by preference.

Honestly, when you enter a hype train, and the train conductor itself tells you it's going nowhere, and you still believe it takes you to Walhalla, I think you've left the realm of sanity.
I think Brevik is using the tweets for nothing but marketing to get some attention before revealing his new project. Everyone interested in Diablo will have to rectify the news and even though some people might be upset or disappointed, it'll be on every news site.
Also: I don't really know why everyone still puts so much hope in him. He hasn't delivered any great game since Diablo II, so nothing in 16 years, and actually many of his projects were big failures. Still people act like he's the messiah. Don't get me wrong, I love him for creating the Diablo franchise - but he's not the savior nor the best solution to bring Diablo forward. There's so much nostalgia involved; D1/D2 wouldn't work today, you need new concepts and fresh ideas.

Hm... from some posts over at other forums and Reddit and so on I think people haven't noticed the list of conquests when you click on "conquests". I've made the "conquests" button a bit bigger. Not the best solution but should do for now.

Hm... overall I tend to agree to most of it. Just pointing out the differences:
The Great imo
- characters to remember: D2 <= I think all games are on par here. I still vividly remember my first time encountering Lachdanan, and everyone knows Jondar or Leah (the latter probably not in a positive way, but we all remember).
- music: D1, D2, D3 <= Even though overall D3 is a huge step forward, I think the music doesn't get close to the epicness of D1 and the great atmosphere of D3. So D1 > D2 >>> D3 for me.
- streamers: D3 <= Kind of unfair comparison. Streaming is a recent phenomenon. That being said, currently D2 has oftentimes more viewers than D3 (especially whenever Ryu is online).
- rendered movies: D1, D2, D3 <= This one is where I'm really disappointed in terms of D3. All cut scenes between the acts in D2 were absolutely amazing. WC3 had so many mind-blowing CGI videos. For some reason the amount of CGI cut scenes is going down. Besides the trailer (which turned out to be the intro) the only one that I really like is the Azmodan one. The stylistic "book-like story-telling" videos of D3 are no match for D2's epic videos. Even D1 had great videos (see my avatar ;-)), so in 2016 I'd expect more. But this is not only an issue for D3; also Torchlight 2 was weaker than Torchlight 1 here.
The Good imo
- runewords: D2 <= Why "the good" and not "the great"? I recently went back to D2. Without runewords I would've stopped playing after 2 days. Runewords was 99% of my excitement for D2 :-)
- uses for rare items: D2 <= Oh, definitely add D1 here. Best weapon? King's Sword (or Staff, for monk) of Haste. Technically a blue weapon :-)
The Bad imo
- no single player offline mode: D3 <= Honestly: If I look at D3 for consoles and how cheating destroys online play there, I'm so happy that D3 doesn't have an offline mode on PC. I never play online (with randoms) or trade in D2, because you basically know 99% of high runes are cheated one way or another. If you don't believe that, you're delusional; no one would trade a legit high rune unless you're a strange kind of human who is fine running 20k times LK. So yeah - no single player offline mode is a good, not a bad in my book.
- item storage not enough to store several build variations for each character: D3 <= As I said, I recently went back to D2. Storage issues? D2 was the worst ever. Ever ever ever.
