Do people typically use shields here? Do people replay sections just to level up before moving on?
Yes and Yes.
I think a shield is a must have for a monk. Deadly Reach/Keen eye & MOE Hard target are huge Armor % buffs making that shield that much more useful.
It sound like you might need to slow down. You can never be too high a level for any fight. look for EX per kill gear and grind out a level or two before you move on. I know I personally didn't kill the Butcher until I was level 20. I would finish off the night by clearing a zone then stopping just short of the check point. Then when I log in the next day I had to clear it again to continue.
My guess:
High DPS farming low MP wouldn't need any LS.
High DPS just to show off on Diable progess wouldn't need LS.
High attack speed with LOH on rings and amulet could provide enough healing for mid level MP runs.
Yellow's don't sell very well on the AH anymore. Its really all about the set/legendary items and even they need to be well rolled to get much for them.
Crafting adds nice flexibilty to the game. Do you don't million/billions of gold to get a good item.
I would love to see more Runes that have general buffs on them. Everyone uses Blazing Wrath/Blinding flash to get a bigger buff for SW. If more abilitys had a X% damage buff then people might be more willing to swap out those spells. DR has a damage buff and in a few select builds people are using it. You'd see more of that if people had more options.
I don't play as much as i use to mostly beacase I got sick of having to: grind hours for a good drop, then roll the AH with it until it sell, then try to buy an upgrade. The 3 step process is so heavily baised on user volumn that it takes a lot of the fun out of the game for me. I've got 250+ hours out of it so i don't call it giving up. I call it simply being finished. Every game has a beguning and end. D2 & D3 offer a lot more fun then most games i've played.
Are these bad for loot or something? Its the only thing I can do right now as I was on a budget to begin with. In around 20 minutes as a TR monk I can do:
Core
Tower 1
Crater 2
Rakkis Backwards
Field of Slaughter + Cave...people skip cave for some reason but its always 2-3 elites, usually a goblin, and a resplendant and they are small as hell.
Keep 3... fast and 2-3 elites
Keep 2 till I hit a dead end unless I have fleeting then i circle back and clear the map
Skycrown backwards... up to 5 elites plus goblins
So Im usually getting 2-3 resplendants and 3-4 goblins per run and a ton of elites and Im paragon 25 and havent gotten a SINGLE legendary thats been to auction. Hell havent even sold a rare for a million yet. Its gonna take me till Diablo 4 is released to get 400-500 mil in gear so I can start doing MP 4-5. I just dont know what Im doing wrong to get no loot.
How are people beating RNG and walking around with a billion in gold worth of gear. I started at releases but quit for a while so probably played for a total of 4 months since the game went live. In those 4 months I have probably made 100 million gold, 25 million of that is looted gold according to my stats, so at that rate it will take me 3 years to have a billion gold. Yet people did it in 3 months. I just dont understand. I am online every day for 7-8 hours. Is that not enough? Should I be farming 12-15 hours a day? Im putting in the effort so Im not like a bunch of whiney WoW crybabies that want free raid quality loot for no effort. But Im not seeing the rewards for it. Its like D3 is the total opposite of WoW. You work your ass off for nothing and in WoW loot is thrown at you and you never have to leave town. And they wonder why everyone quit.
I found that the legendries didn't start dropping at a consistent rate until I got to about 250+ MF. I see about 1 legendary per hour not that i'm at MF cap doing speed runs on MP0. High dps/high MF gear seems to work best for me.
9 is waaaaaaaaaaaay too much. 9 means you can completely stunlock even single targets - not necessary.
I'm usually around 6, and I leave Diamond Skin out of the rotation on uber Ghom and uber Siegebreaker MP7/8; it's not perfect stunlock but they attack so rarely that my LoH is sufficient and the small window of opportunity for them to make an attack is usually not enough for anything nasty. With a value of 6 in that formula I sometimes manage to keep Ghom+Rakanoth completely stunlocked (i.e., no poison clouds). 9 means you spent too much on stunlock and sacrificed an unnecessary amount of DPS.
Windsurfer21: can you tell your stats or link your gear? I'm trying to get a higher value just "for fun", but I feel that everything beyond 6 or 7 costs me too much EHP/DPS.
sure. But i'll be the first to admit that I don't know what i'm doing.
Most is this gear is borrowed from my monk. The rest is just stuff that i couldnt sell for a much or had sitting around. I was just messing around to see if could get the numbers to do perma stun on Ubers. The Andariel's Visage just droped last night and i wanted to see if it was enought to get me to perma stun.
do i need a full 9 to make this work? i was looking at an upgrade that would give me a 8.6 using this formula. Is that enought for a single target perma freeze?
I’m a 60k monk looking for groups to run ubers or geared players to carry at higher MP’s. I provide machines. Windsurfer#1740. Hit me up in game or on the forums.
lol
Sorry you got taken by this one. Its is kinda funny to read about.
I don't think that the "scammer" did anything that isn't allowed by blizzard. Half of what I read in General chat looks like a bunch of lies. This doesn’t sound any different.

Well said.
You'll end up rolling a lot more Vit gear to get a good item vs Dex. (when looking at DPS)

Any idea why you couldn't pick it back up again? You should have been able to drop it and pick it back up. Some kind of hack?
