Posting this extremely interesting interview with Travis Day ( D3 Systems designer) by Diablo IncGamers for visibility. There's better information here then the d3 panels themselves at times. It's definitely worth a look. Big thank you to Diablo Incgamers:

All i know is that this new set gives me reason to dust off my mirror ball, which makes me happy!
Why on earth would you use Mirrorball, or any signature skill, when Energy Twister clocks in at 1500% weapon damage? It's the highest DPS spell in the wizard arsenal.

Will probably be better at easier content and groups, but when you get to high GR's the dot of the Firebird's is still way superior to this.

Though it's all still in development and there will be more items that might make Firebird's less of a requirement for those high GR's. Not that am complaining, this seems pretty sweet at least at first glance.
IDK, the numbers are there. 1250% per sec, plus 5x the normal damage on ET / AO and MM. I think the set could beat firebirds.
I don't think so - at least solo. This set requires you to stand shock still to use Energy Twister. It's a recipe for suicide, even presumably with all the stuns. The damage potential SHOULD be higher if you can stand still and cast though - meaning it'll rock in groups, as long as they get the numbers right.

Came to the same conclusion. Damage potential may even be higher then Firebird's if Valthek's adds like the Wicked Wind rune to Energy twister. Then you could use Raging Storm or Gale Force or something. That would make the damage potential higher then Firebird's, but you'd be squishy as hell.

What did us Wizards think of the previewed set bonus? I played around a little bit and came up with a build like this: http://www.diablofans.com/builds/4834-2-2-slow-time-et-build

Obviously it's very preliminary and I was experimenting in a very rough way. It will depend on the skills and how they interact with the set bonus and if Valthuk's Rebuke is revamped into something worthwhile. Anyway, what did you guys think?

    Quote from Jaetch»

There are justifications for Force Armor in high level Rifts. With my ~15M toughness, a regular Lacuni Slasher hits me for over 66% of my life with Prismatic on. Force Armor can mitigate that to 35%. However, I will have a tougher time surviving against DoTs like Frozen and Molten. Pick your poison.
I pick Force Armor, staying out of Molten, and Talisman of Aronach amulet :P All those people saying Xephirian amulet is Best in slot for a wizard are flatly wrong. you can MOVE OUT of TStorm, you can't escape Frozen :(

I agree with pretty much everything you just said. To add to it a bit:

    1) Trial system should indeed be removed. It's a more complex programming task, but IMO you should be able to select a rift (or lower) of your choosing, with the highest being a calculation of your average X number of best solo/group clears, with various weights being assigned based on some formula, similar to how SC2 rankings work. This is quite difficult to get right, but I think it's the right move.

Good post, I agree with all the other points.

    1) If a player only played solo, a weighted calculation would most likely lower his maximum possible rift level. For solo it should be max cleared level +1, so after clearing 38 you should be able to push 39 without having to clear 38 again. As for groups, a more complicated formula could indeed be needed.
No. Solo it should be your best clear. That's obvious. It's in a group when things get murky. It should probably just be the average of the parties best clear minus -1.

    Nephalem's Regret:

Restore an item to it's original properties, and remove (or reset) it's enchanting cost.

"As the power of the Nephalem became clear, even Inarius himself had second thoughts..."

Or maybe you could just listen to N.A. sub 100 ranked wizard and use Sunkeeper, which is superior to everything except Furnace. Also Cindercoat > Magefists if your playing the spec properly. Its something like 15ap/sec regeneration. It makes stacking Firebirds on different packs a breeze.

Just dont try to use Sunkeeper or unity in trials. Serpent Sparker really shines here.

best i think is magefist + sunkeeper + unity + soj , one with chd, one with cc.

you can go rorg in multiplayergames of course, though i would say unity still is better because if elite damage.
Cindercoat is far more useful then MageFists; the cost reduction really helps Firebird flow.

I can't decide which is best. While still waiting for SOJ, Unity and Furnace.

    4. Sunkeeper, Cindercoat, CC/CHD rings

#4 is best. You can have Magefists with an RRoG too.

Nothing is wrong with Soj/Unity or RROG. They are the standard the other rings have to be brought up too; interesting affixes, powerful effects that most builds at least wish they could equip somehow, even if they cannot.
