The Armor-Gemslots are definitely a something thats a little boring right now.

Agreed. And they are also poorly balanced compared to each other. Weapons also use mainly only emeralds while it would be great to have some other options too.

Would be nice to have crafted gear too, similar to D2. Maybe you could reforge rares in the cube for a guaranteed stat or two based on the gems you use, with the rest being random, like D2 crafted items.

Definitely yes! In D2 the crafting was cool. In D3, the crafting is nothing you use after leveling.

I'm not partial to the rune or runeword examples you've provided, but I think the system makes sense and it would provide diversity. I'd prefer the bonuses to be on the combat side of the spectrum vs. the utility side of the spectrum.

It's great that you see the potential behind the controversial (or boring) examples. Agreed that combat side of spectrum makes them more desirable as a system.

There's nothing so badly wrong in D3 that couldn't be fixed. Besides, there's is great chance that D4 is not even as complex as D3. In worst case the Diablo series suffer the fate of Warcraft series where last proper Warcraft is released somewhere in 2003.

Just a random question out of curiosity: why are suggestions posted on this forum? I mean, I get that the diablo community is a lot more active over here than at Blizz forums, but does any of the Blizz people even come here? Is it worthwhile providing feedback or suggestions here that are ultimately intended for developers and not just the playerbase?

Thank you all for feedback! I'll get back to it but this was easy one.
Diablofans is the only one to allow pictures. Reddit, read by Diablo staff, works best when linked something and Diablofans is the best place to be linked thanks to embed pictures that reddit catches.
The official forums are full of D3 haters and PoE lovers and rapid topic deployment makes suggestions drown easily.

This year I've been suggesting and discussing whether there is room for Runewords in Diablo 3. Some of the conclusions after all the debate:

    - Not as rare as in D2
    - Shouldn't create powercreep
    - Should be modernized as a system
    - Should provide increased build variations

Now I'm definitely done with suggesting. However, here's the final solution I've come up with according to all feedback. Pretty simplified and traditional system compared the more complicated iterations but simplicity is beautiful.

    1. About 10 different runes
    2. About as rare as Consumables
    3. Uses the same sockets as everything else
    4. Runewords are formed throughout the gear
    5. One rune can form multiple Runewords

Forces player to decide whether to use gems or runes and in some cases, whether even to replace a legendary gem with a rune.

Pretty busy photoshop but you get the idea. Thank you for reading and have a nice gaming with Diablo 3.

could be usefull for d4 not for DIII the runewords

I think it's even more optimistic to wait D4 with great expectations than to wait for a new D3 expansion.

    -

Time has moved on since 2008 and it is not said that D4 would be even as dark themed as D3 is. There's nothing so wrong in Diablo 3 that couldn't be fixed even pretty easily with the expansion revamp. Of course some people hate the skill system but most people feel the true issues elsewhere. And if you have played 5 acts to the death, 3 new acts could easily be added to form one great world. (ACT6: Jungle, ACT7: Far East, ACT8: Sanctaury/Hell)

    -

Diablo 3 might very well be the last true Diablo game so let's cherish it and hope for several new classes and game improvements. Long live D3!

    Runeword suggestion:

    Inner Sanctuary aura when equipped

    Runeword suggestion:

Summons a wolf companion when equipped

    Runeword suggestion:

    Poison Aura when equipped (DoT)

    Runeword suggestion:

Summons a skeletal archer when equipped.

    Runeword suggestion:

    Chilling aura when equipped.

    Runeword suggestion:

    Call Bombardment every 10 seconds

    Runeword suggestion:

A chance to cast a Twister when attacking.

    Runeword suggestion:

A 5% chance to cast a chain lightning when attacking.

These wouldn't hurt the D3 game balance much.

    absurd_olfaction suggested at reddit:

As I understand it, the Plague Set is all about using corpses, but for some reason only buffs bone spear. It's non-nonsensical in its design. First things: Corpse Lance uses the Rune you have on Corpse Lance.

    (2) Set: Each corpse you consume fires a Corpse Lance at a nearby enemy.

    (4) Set: Each enemy you hit with Corpse Explosion, Corpse Lance, or Revive, reduces your damage taken by 10%, up to a maximum of 50%. Lasts 10 seconds. While this damage reduction is active, your Revive minions do not expire.

    (6) Set: Your Golem, Corpse Explosion, Corpse Lance, and Revive deal 3000% increased damage. Each corpse you consume has a chance of reducing the cool-down of Land of the Dead by one second.

    So, current iteration:

    (2) Set:
Each corpse you consume fires a Corpse Lance at a nearby enemy.
    (4) Set:
Each enemy you hit with Bone Spear reduces your damage taken by 2%, up to a maximum of 50%. Lasts 15 seconds.
    (6) Set:
Each corpse you consume grants you an Empowered Bone Spear charge that increases the damage of your next Bone Spear by 3000%.

    An improval suggestion:

    (2) Set:
Each corpse you consume fires a Corpse Lance at a nearby enemy.
    (4) Set:
Each enemy you hit with Bone Spear reduces your damage taken by (2%) 5%, up to a maximum of (50%) 30%. Lasts 15 seconds. Each enemy you have revived, reduces your damage taken by 5% up to 50%.
    (6) Set:
Each corpse you consume grants you an Empowered Bone Spear charge that increases the damage of your next Bone Spear by 3000%. Revived enemies now deal xxxx% weapon damage over 10 seconds.

Another one could be Bone Spear simply doing Poison DoT on top of the current damage and giving more damage reduction per enemy.

Bone spear is fun skill but maybe adding now useless Revive to be part of 6 piece bonus? In 4 piece bonus damage reduction per each revived monster.

    How about:

Revived monsters now deal x% weapon damage (as poison) over 5 seconds.

I also hoped it to be the Poison (Damage over time) Build.

Yes! Why can't they see that old school poison ability would have made a totally fresh build for Diablo.
It would be anxious to wait whether monster gets death by poison before we do.
Action-wise poison is something I most miss from D2.

Shouldn't it flavor-wise favor more plague skills, less bone skills?

We shall see. Got to say I'm somewhat foolishly excited of Blizzcon once again.

If D4 is totally new game, I'm expecting it 2021 or 2022.
