posted a message on maybe I am wrong but DIII just doesn't look or feel like DII
For one thing, the dark aspect of the Diablo series is IMO one of the defining features of the series. I don't just mean dark as in 'absence of light', but also dark in mood, dark in character. The Diablo series has always had a good atmosphere and a dark side to it that I've never felt playing WoW.

I agree, I always thought the actual feel of diablo 1 was better than diablo 2 even if diablo 2 was more fun due to being faster paced/more skills/more items/better pvp. The look of diablo 1 with better graphics would be better as well in my opinion. After 18 years, I can still picture almost all of diablo 1.

As for the complaints about auction house and buying pvp power. That still existed on d2 unofficially and didn't make that big of a difference. If you want REAL pvp, play hardcore, it's where I've been since the start and will continue into on d3 and I'll guarantee you have a ton more fun PvP on hardcore. That is of course, if you have talent.

The reason they aren't showing it is the same reason they don't show it on sc2. It makes newbs feel worse about themselves and they feel it will lead to people not enjoying the game and not playing. Not to mention the added BM that comes with rank. For example, that's why only Masters rank or above in SC2 can see their losses. The masters and higher still can't see their MMR so they still don't know fully where they stand amongst the other players.

They probably wont get special treatment but hopefully they would add it to sc2 as well with features that obviously reflect w/e game it is being used for.

How would a ladder even work in d3? Everyone on top bought their gear from the RMAH you all hate so much or d3jsp if they didn't go through with the AH. Barring any RMT then you take into account pretty much everything in d3 will be based off RNG. The MMR system couldn't be the answer because you can't have any real competition when some players will never fight other players (like rated bg's in wow before you could fight same faction). You could "twink" (purposely stay lower geared) to avoid having to fight certain people. This could even be exploited by a bunch of people to tie up all the top spots if the best players got together and decided to fix their mmr so they never fight each other. Look at wow arena drama and you know things like that would happen right away.

WoW raiding gear is completely useless in pvp and look at the huge number of people that endlessly farm that... You guys not being able to understand why anyone would farm for gear if not pvp is a very small minority of players, despite what you'd like to believe. Also if you think Blizzard of all companies can't make challenging pve content, well I don't know what to tell you.

If you want a game with a huge grind, tons of rng, unbalanced pvp, and a ranking system, they already have that game it's called Aion. If you want competitive pvp you could always get gw2 as well, there's no gear grind at all there so you could pve on d3 and pvp on gw2, those 2 games combined are going to be my complete MMO replacement for the next few years, no monthly fees!

They aren't asking for some huge E-Sports level PvP. They just want a few simple things that would make PvP a bit more enjoyable than d2s PvP. The thing that irritates PvP players most is that it seems that instead of even just letting PvP happen, it seems that they purposely want to KILL it. It's one thing to ignore balancing and so forth but to potentially actively try to remove it without actually removing it. The only reason they appear to be keeping PvP in any fashion is just to get more sales out of the game. The "arena mode" doesn't count as them trying to give us PvP, especially if they make it like halos bullshit battles.

Well I meant a specific shared stash that is different than your main stash. It would be a place for storing items that you don't care if other guild members take or for guilds that are extremely good friends and have that trust between each other to share items. The point is, you wouldn't put items in their that you don't care about if your guild is more "open".

It could also function as more of a small clan website/forum so you don't have to go outside of the game to interact for clan purposes unless you want a full on message board or have something else for going outside.

Tons of things you could do, it could display members ranks, what they are in charge of, could show new recruits and allow members to vote on them. Options are pretty limitless.

I also believe that the ability to moderate is HUGE in running a clan channel, otherwise you can't handle kids that aren't in the guild in your own "private" area.

That is too bad if they really did scratch them, they really could have tuned the quests to fit everyone but perhaps be more class specific in a manner. For example, class quest for a monk, you are given quest, you go through, get reward. A different class who gets that "monk class quest" instead helps a NPC monk to get his "class quest" and in turn rewards you. Could have been a neat way to add a different playing experience and introduce some class specific items while still allowing other classes to take part in a different yet meaningful way.

Chat room, ability to ban others
    Shared stash?
    Customizable chat rooms?
Links to clan website in clan channel?
    Message boards for clan members

I imagine you could come up with a ton more, those were just a few thoughts off the top of my head.

The biggest reason is probably because since the game isn't out, people want to talk about what they are most concerned with rather than worry about what is most likely, just the equivalent of an xbox banner or sc2 portrait with the added functionality of being able to find your friends faster. Hopefully they allow it to be EXTREMELY customizable to make it more worthwhile and as you said, could be a neat bonus feature if more freedom is allowed in it rather than unlocking the same things that other people can have.

I think the main question, is it really worth it? You have 4 people per game, how big of a guild do you need? You have RealID to add people, besides putting a title on your friends list, the guild wouldn't really do much.

Having said that I do want to see it, and I think it could be cool with some guild perks (O NOES WOW, I know.) It needs to be a meaningful thing rather than a shell with a label on it. Guilds are always a fun thing to form and join but if there is really no greater purpose it sort of looses all meaning.

Agreed, otherwise it's just a glorified friends list.

I would definitely wait the extra time it takes for them to implement guild/clan support.

It's already been 10 years since the d2 expansion....I say polish what they have, balance the game out asap, and patch in the rest.

1)Being that you can still play a ton of builds from the ground up, for some us, there will still be a ton of replay value.
    2) I play hardcore so I thankfully will not have to deal with it.
    3) There was tons of item buying in d2 between d2jsp, e-bay, websites, or other means so I doubt that the AH will have that massive of an impact, it might get a few extra people to purchase items being they know it's 100% safe.
    4) Achievement hunting for myself has never been something I've striven for unless I was completely lacking anything else to do, I still have the majority of achievements left on SC2 to obtain and never even tried on my xbox games.

Bottom line, between my own self imposed rules, hardcore mode itself, hardcore mode PvP god willing, and the fact I love running new characters of all types through the game, I'll be busy for a very long time.

Theres no need to build 128 characters to test all possible builds, you only need 5. Theres no point in farming gear and trying to be rich in the game because one's ingame wealth are actually the amount of RL money he/she is able to spend there, not the time invested in the game.

That in my opinion is a very narrow minded view. You can only test those builds at the level in which you choose to experiment with them and if all you're doing is checking the high end capabilities, you're probably better off just trying to PvP. The REAL experimentation is picking a build out of thin air and trying to run it from normal-hell(inferno level maybe? :D) without giving it gear along the way from other characters.

Also, I don't know about you, but even if I was a softcore player, I still wouldn't pay for my items with real money. The only way I might even consider it is if I could get the best gear in the game for like a $1 which it will be a long time before it reaches that point unless blizzard allows botting and duping to go unchecked.

posted a message on Runes - Got To Love It!
I agree the runes are a great concept but I also dislike the idea of having complete randomization, mostly on the really hard ones to find, I wouldn't mind more common items having a bit more randomization to them, nothing was more disappointing than putting together your call to arms and getting the worst roll possible. I do like the idea of the rune "skill locking", adds a element to when you use it and on what. Think of it this way also, without dupes, runes in d2 would be far less common.

I'll be very sad if they make HC dueling not kill your character. The only reason I liked PvP was because of hardcore. The thrill of the battle was far more exhilarating than any game I've played competitively. Just can't touch the joy of victory, the near death experiences, and the occasional loss of a dueler.

I can understand the longing for a better PvP system but I don't think it will matter that much if they balance towards it. Diablo 2 Pvp was tons of fun without them even caring. I wish they would just put more into PvP outside of balance, nothing wrong with making an aspect of the game better even if it doesn't help towards their main "purpose" of the game.
