I wouldnt be so surprised if we did in fact find some items with the stats that you are looking for. As far as just leaving the other hand blank and empty? I dont think so. Diablo is a game of stats and stacking as many modifiers onto your char as possible. Maybe, however, in the example of your monk char they may have some kind of off hand item for him as well. This is all just speculation, but the core mechanics of the diablo franchise has always been about stacking ur char with more and more stats.

How broad is 'friends and family'? If I own all other blizzard games and have them registered on Battle.net am I a friend? When they say friends and family are they literally talking about the close friends and family of the people who work at battle.net? I just don't want to get my hopes up for this beta if there really isn't a chance of me getting in.

If you have to ask... then they probably dont know who you are =-). Just sayin'

...add to that 10 more of the opposite gender....

Actually i was thinking 1 gender for softcore, 1 gender for hardcore... (y'know... 10 character p/account limit?)
    solid idea

there are basic attacks. just not auto attack. look at the newly leaked beta images. the wizard has basic attack equiped on left mouse button.

So when you equip the basic attack though it takes up one of your skill slots? That doesn't seem like it's going to be popular for any class. At level 1-5 you have basic attack as one of your skills and then you only get to use one other? Or is basic attack something outside of the equipped skills so you can use both it and the skills at the same time without having to go in and swap stuff?

oh how WOW has ruined the gamer...

    - 10 Characters -

    Softcore:
    1 Demon Hunter
    1 Monk
    1 Barbarian
    1 Wizard
    1 Witch Doctor

    Hardcore:
    1 Demon Hunter
    1 Monk
    1 Barbarian
    1 Wizard
    1 Witch Doctor

Now level all those to 60.

Now pimp all of them with full inferno gear.

Now get as many acheivements as possible on all of them. (This only depending if there are acheivements affecting single characters)

Now get "max" (?) pvp level on all of them. (This only if the "pvp level" is single character and not account-wise)

    Want more replayability than that?

lets not forget about the vast crafting and trading system!

I think crafting and item content are going to be so vast combined, that there will be NO reason to play new chars. Simply make one of each class and craft and trade until your fingers bleed!

I agree. The RMAH is just a tool that will allow good players to be flexible. Nothing more. People are reading too much into this. And yes... the more you play the more money you will make on the AH. This is a simple % thing. The more stuff you will have up there (including toons) the higher % chance someone will buy your stuff despite the argument that "everyone will be competing in the same market." If anything, with so many people "in the same market" the business-man diablo player will be constantly buying selling and trading to gain personal items and real life wealth. So dont be hater/noob and say this is a terrible thing! I personally am not going to have as much time to play diablo this year because I am graduating college. Thus, I will prolly make only one or two toons and sell items that they wouldnt need to timmy whos 14, has all the time in the world, AND moms credit card. No problems for me. From that stand point you can see that making cash on the RMAH is actually quite possible. Those players who have more time (and capital) can play the RMAH as if it was some kind of stock exchange as well by buying and reselling certain items and so forth.

Its a mechanic within the game. I suggest you decide to use it unless you feel like living in n00b village for the entirety of you diablo 3 career.

Oh and if you dont like it then you can play hardcore mode. In which case I would call you a crazy bastard (in a friendly tone) and tip my hat to you... followed by pouring out a beer to your fallen homi/dead ass toon...lol
