Quote fromif anyone in your party kills the king it is the same as you doing it
however that was implmented in one of the patches im not sure which one
how it used to work was you could open the cow lvl as long as you completed the difficulty
the cow king thing didnt exist in that version but that was a good while ago which is after like the second patch lol
how it works now if anyone in your party the whole party can no longer create the cow lvl
ive tested this with over 7 chars all of them can no longer create it after anyone kills the king
but i can still join games and enter the portals for ppl who didnt kill the king lol
as long as the king doesnt die from anyone in your party you can still create it
i have never tested this with someone outside my party so i dont know if they can disable your ability as well
im pretty sure if you create the portal and leave the game when someone joins and they kill the king it doesnt effect you at all
this is way off topic but just want to clarify.
you're making this way more confusing than it should be
the cow king is basically a quest just like any other.
if there is someone that NEEDS the quest (ie hasn't killed the king before) and they kil the king with you partied and in the same act, then you will also get credit and lose your cow making ability. you share completion of the quest with your party members (in the same act) that needed the quest, as is the case with any other quest.
Also just like other quests, if someone NEEDS the quest (hasn't killed the king) and they kill him with you in the same area (in the cow level), then you will get the quest regardless of whether or not you are partied to that person (as will everyone partied to you).
However, different from other quests, if the other person has already completed the cow king quest (killed the king previously) then the death of the the king in your game by that person will have no consequence for you, even if they're in your party and you're in the same area.
The cow king must be killed by someone that has not killed it previously in order for the death to affect other people.
if this occurs, then everyone in the cow level will get the quest and lose their making ability. (regardless of whether or not they are partied to the cow killer. also everyone partied to the person that was in the cow level that got the quest will also have their quest completed as long as they are also in the act)
if this occurs, then everyone partied in the same act will get the quest and lose their making ability. (regardless of what area they are in within the act)
Also different from other quests is the fact that the quest is not open or closed based on the maker of the game. someone that has killed the cow king can make a game and the quest can still be open (available) if a cow portal is opened by another maker.
and on your last point, if you make the cow portal and then leave then of course you cannot complete the quest without being present, and so you will retain the ability to make the cow level in the next games you join.
edit: also, anyone can enter the cow level regardless of whether or not they are able to make a cow portal and regardless of whether or not they've completed the "cow king quest."
any (unhostile) player can enter.
edit again:
one more caveat is that you cannot be the killer of the cow king to complete the "cow king quest" for yourself (or others) unless you have completed the baal quest in the given difficulty, this is the prerequisite for the player to complete the quest by his own actions.
however, the other rules still apply so that someone partied to someone else that completes the quest in whatever way needs not have this requirement filled in order to get the quest.
bleh i guess i'm the one making it more difficult now, but anyway hope this post helps anyone that was confused.
edit still: that was the worst post i've ever made lol
it's so hard to make broad simple statements to explain something when you're also trying to include all the "what ifs.."
every sentence ends up sounding convoluted and repetitous ><

i love it ><
edit: ohh it's a baby sugar glider

however i wouldn't mind the same kind of areas.. in fact, seeing the old towns or travincal or etc would be especially cool to me.

it is cool.
seen some crazy golems like beast golems to grant fanatacism or pride golems for concentrate, bramble for thorns, crescent moon shaeffers hammer or stormlash for static, delerium to make a little doll golem, doom for holy freeze, last wish for might, lawbringer for sanctuary.
really any of the 1.11 rune words would be good. (especially treachery but also peace and rain.)
and crushing blow items are always good.
but they die so easy (even with high life and low damage to prevent IM deaths)..it's really a waste.
best thing to make them from is insight so you have unlimited mana and when it dies it's not that big of a deal.
or alternately unique item kelpie snare for 75% slows. (which by the way you totally should use on your merc till you can afford a pride weapon). kelpie snare + a high lvl clay golem and decrep just dominates bosses.
ps i'd like to see a version of your build with a merc using rift thresher or giant thresher (and 45% ias through armor/helm), an infinity golem and the necro using faith and a high lvl lower resist.
would be 5 frame attack speed and minus 150 or so enemy cold resist. could couple it with mages and elemental damage charms and it might be cool.

what are you doing with all those different golems??
put 1 to all the golems except the one you plan to use primarily (and even then 1 is ok if you dont mind remaking him a lot). why do you have 8 points to fire golem?
since you want a tough golem, i would recommend 20 to clay golem and 10 to mastery that will be 6311 life 400% AR Bonus and 63% slows.
i would put points to revive, more points in summon resist, or some skeleton mages (or ce would be even better, but i know you dont want that.)
you don't need more than 1 point in decrep. it just gets a longer duration. save your points and be prepared to recast.
i'd also put 1 to all the curses and 1 to bonewall and bone prison

use an act 2 might (nm offensive) merc with a pride weapon for concentrate
and you're really shooting yourself in the foot not to use amp or decrep

1) who can die the fastest: run new characters to their death.
-make new chars
-enter a game on hardcore (preferably one where other people are leveling/playing so they can be shocked by your ineptitude)
-remove shields (if you were stupid enough to make a character that has a shied)
-start at the rogue encampment entrance and run into the blood moor and on..
-whoever dies first wins
play best 3/5 or etc
2) who can live the longest: run new characters through act1 without killing mobs or dying.
-make new chars
-enter a game on hardcore
-run without fighting mobs WITH your opponent to as far as you can go
-whoever gets furthest without dying wins
3) charge wars (requires collecting charged items over a long period of time): duel (preferably on hardcore) with items that grant charges.
"you are only allowed to use skills of other classes"
-over time collect random items that grant charges. when you and another person each have a full mule account proceed to step 2
-you and the other person lvl chars to 60 (all stats to strength and dex NO skill points spent)
-clear the blood moore with a capable character
-place the charged items from both mules in blood moore
-lvl 60 characters (naked, all points to str/dex, no skill points used) hostile each other and enter the blood moore
-pick up charged items and duel to the death (when the charges are out of an item drop it and get another till all are gone or one person dies)

with how delayed this has become i'm amazed that they still see it as such a low priority.
i'm still looking forward to it though.. whenever it arrives.

there will be hardcore mode.
it was hinted at during wwi 2008:
again during blizzcon 2008: confirmed by bashiok on the forums:
and it was again brought up and confirmed at blizzcon 2009:
on topic, i don't like the checkpoint system.
i like being able to go to town when i want to, and this is part of an alternate setup that removes that convenience.
additionally i think this system does make softcore easier; this will inevitably lead to making the game harder to compensate, which i think could have detrimental effects on hc.
i'll give it a chance, I just am not a fan at the outset.

if you're playing diablo 2 on closed battlenet, you will probably be able to reset your skill points at some point. patch 1.13 (which is long overdue) will include skill point allocation; however, no ETA on it.
(for diablo 1 single player you might post here. if you're playing diablo 1 on battlenet you're out of luck and should just remake your characters.)

assassin is probably second best to smiter. smite will always be best since it doesn't need attack rating to hit; however, with a good attack rating assassin is nearly as fast and may actually be safer due to crowd control abilities. (there were many times in hardcore that i had to use my assassin to clear ubers when careless smiters had been slain.)
edit: basically any char with a fast attack, good attack rating, lifetap, stacked resists and crushing blow can make short work of them.
that can be any char including a necro or sorc using runeword passion (for zeal).

(also from this site's wiki is another explanation of breakpoints.)
