Blizzard has just released their ninth batch of screenshots (see here if you missed the eighth) for hitting the 750k 'Like' mark. Once again, we've got the high resolution versions at our disposal here on DiabloFans.
Click the images to bask in the glory of the high resolution versions that you likely won't see anywhere else!
The second picture is a screenshot from that same unknown dungeon that we've seen previously, of the female Demon Hunter in a lot of action... She is dealing with a group of Dark Vessels and Dark Demons via her Multi Shot Skill, while it looks like an Activated Vessel's death animation may be going off.
25,000 more likes to go until the 775k mark where we can get some more images, and 10 more milestones until we hit the 1 million 'Like' goal. Go visit facebook.com/Diablo and 'Like' the page to speed the war effort!
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.
Supporting big shoulderpads and flashy armor since 2004.
There's something that bothers me about the gold in this game. And I swear I'm not one of those people who ever felt D3 was way too colorful and all that crap. I just wish the gold didn't sparkle and shine so brightly. Not because I'm against bright things and colors and stuff. But just because it makes it look too arcadish to me. So many arcade style games have lots of sparkly glittery glowing things on the ground for you to walk over to pick up. And yes, I know D2's items on the ground sparkled a bit, but that was pretty different than this, way more toned down.
Some will probably argue, "Well, it's just so you can see the gold better..." Really, though? Or maybe have the gold either glowing or sparkling but not both. It just makes the gold really stand out way too much and it kind of clashes with everything you're seeing. Whether they turn down the brightness or contrast on the gold a bit, I don't care, but they should do something so it doesn't contrast so sharply with everything else around it.

I've watched a lot of diablo 3 gameplay videos over and over and over again but the gold's brightness never really caught my attention till you mentioned it. I see them clearly now but I'm sure I'll forget about it again soon enough
I am more concerned on how they will approach the looting. I hope by only clicking alt (or any button you desire) will items will be lootable because I don't want to accidentally mouse over one and try to loot it instead of killing a demon.
It's also good to see more sharper screenshots. I remember when they mentioned that they won't fully support AA but the screenshot has less jaggies especially that last few batch. The artwork also looks cool.

I love all loot fest kind of game! I will be playing all of them for the next few years. Loot fest games I'm looking forward to: LotR: War in the North,Torchlight 2,Borderlands 2 and of course Diablo 3.

Yea I saw those and immediately thought "I hope the item/gold icons aren't final." But also, as Crusader said, I never noticed it when I was watching D3 videos. I don't mind the sparkling/light aura as much as I mind how cartoony the item icons look. Thats one of those things that could be pretty easily changed though, so hopefully that happens before beta/release.
I really like the artwork. I'm getting a bit tired of screenshots from the same dungeon, though. I'd like to see some Act 3 outdoor environments now!
Yea, the artwork is definitely where its at. I don't think they'll reveal anything about Act 3 though, especially through these screenshots.

You'd probably even notice it less running around I guess. I just really don't want Diablo 3 to feel like an arcade game. Bright shiney drops like that remind me of other things I hate in games like when you strike an enemy and numbers float out of their heads indicating how much damage you've done. God I hate that!
I'm pretty sure gold is auto-looted as well. Or it had been planned to be so. So I don't see the point in it needing to stick out THAT much. You walk near it, it picks it up.
I think they had also mentioned at one point floating numbers will be a toggle choice. Sometimes it's neat to put a big fat number on your favorite damaging skill, but for the most part, I don't care to see it.

Is it just me because I'm not a native english speaking, but does "Activated Vessel" make anyone else think "Activated Tank" or vehicle or some such?
Now that you mention it... activated vessel makes me think of submarines being launched. English is an unusual language.
Now, is it just me or does it look like they're trying too hard with the pot of guts and the torture coffin? It doesn't really add much to the atmosphere and looks too stylised. I especially don't like the low polys on the pot. Still, the concept art is good.
AFAIK, it's just the glow of a recently dropped item. I mean, items (and gold) that have just dropped glow for a while and then fade out. I don't know how long the glow lasts, but it is not a permanent feature of those gold piles. It simply helps you to notice that it dropped in a really fast-paced combat.
I...guess so. Still though, remember how the gold in the last two games did nothing like that and you still noticed gold on the ground just as easy.
Thats a pretty big jump. For one, thats something that could easily be an option you can turn off, and no matter your IQ you can miss stuff. I'm not saying it has to be nearly as shiny as it is, but for all we know the screenshot was taken at the peak of how bright it gets, and it only stays that way for a few seconds when it drops. Which really wouldn't be bad at all. Still doesn't make up for the crappy looking item icons though.
Based on the new screenshot, it appears they aren't going to change one very annoying thing...
Since the infamous 2008 gameplay video of the barb, so since forever, every time you hit a monster the monster blinks a bright white. I don't like it. It makes it feel like some sort of arcade game. Now, I'm all about doing a "taken damage" effect, but this is extreme, in my opinion of course.

Gah! I complained about that long ago. It's bloody awful isn't it? That is a very arcade style thing to do to. I really thought it was just an early development sort of thing. But you're right, it's doing it here too isn't it?
It reminds me of the way enemies would flicker in Altered Beast.
It seems like most of the concept art is usually a single monster or character with their head slanted to one side making a face as if they just found out they just ate human feces...I'm sure they have way more varied concept arts to share. And as for the screenshots - yeah a little repetitive.
Blizzard: Yeah, it's that time again...pick a random monster concept and take a screen shot of the same dungeon with a different P.O.V and send it off - Now should the barbarian throw just corpses..or corpses with jet packs and high heeled shoes? The girl gamers will think this is the new and improved sexy diablo 3!
But you're right about the items (I assume you're talking about the boots that are on the ground). They don't look too great.
Yea I know, but I was just pointing out that screenshots always make things like that look worse if they're taken at a certain time. And I was referring to the boots.

Well from what Bashiok said soon before launching this promotion, it seems like he basically recieved a bunch of these pictures, so its not like he's choosing from all the concept art that has been done.

I'm not implying any kind of explanation, but wow, I think it averages out to thousands of likes a day.
