Dimebag where did you see or read that you could customize skills? Show me the link that shows me or tells me from a blizzard employee that I can manipulate fire bolt into something else to further customize my character and make it unique from the person next to me.
Know its funny they said everyone would hate them for announcing their new class the Wizard which I feel is great, and I don't see anyone complaining about that but im sure this stat thing is gonna overrule anything else blizzard does.

After reading the skill customization I am far more than satisfied with how they are handling attribute points now, this really just changes focus and to me sounds like a lot of fun. So my first post/assumption about them using some other system if they are making stats automatic was right. Can't wait for this game even more now : D
This is surprising lol. I think its good to go with it this way. Idk why.

I think the idea is good. I was actually hoping that they would remove the customized stat system. I liked how the stat system worked in WoW (please, don't say "OMG WOW IS FER TEH NUBS!"), because you were able to be more focused on your skill usage, talents, and items. without worrying about whether you had messed up your character.
I didn't like the fact that I had to research how to properly allocate stats, just in order to be effective past normal mode. I will admit, to do really well, a player should have to work at it in order to do well. But just to be able to compete fairly well in the 2nd difficulty mode? The previous system wasn't terribly noob friendly and you really had no way to rectify past mistakes with character creation.
Yes, having the ability to customize a character's stats added depth to the game, but that doesn't mean there will be no depth in this game. We don't fully know how many spells characters will have or how well spells will work in conjunction with other spells. And if you've looked at the new Rune System, there will be a lot of different ways to customize your character and make it unique. Some Runes will work better than other runes for certain spells and people will be combing runes to spells in varying and interesting ways, ways that you wouldn't think to work well. Maybe people will find rune combinations that mimic strange builds from D2, builds that are very unique, but maybe aren't as effective as cookie cutter builds, but are fun nonetheless.
I don't see this change as a bad change, personally, I like this change. It isn't lessening the depth of the game, but rather the focus of the game is changing.
O and they may make item requirements to be similar to WoW. All they have is a level requirement, with some items being class specific. Item bonuses determine what type of class the item is for, but you can still wear whatever you want. We may still see different builds because there may not be class specific requirements for every item. So you may see Barbarians who are wearing items that boost their spell power for spells that do actual magic damage instead of focusing on melee strength. You could very well see types of builds like "Singer" barbs and Melee sorcs.
peeps that said this fine are crazy i love feeling omg i gotta get 7 more str to wear this so exciting and gives motivation!:D
Yes this is a downfall but it also removes "Yes Im goona get 4k health bo me get 8k and be godly couse all my stats are in vitality!!!! and all these itesm i have give + to strength watch me be gay bitches"

Of course, because when everyone's stats are the same there is more variety.
This removes oh so much strategy from the game, especially for melee classes. Do you want a lot of damage or a lot of hp? Faster attack & block rate? Or slower but more powerful swings? Do you pump strength to use that awesome axe and become a glass cannon? Or stay with your weaker one, but build HP?
With the removal of runewords, there will be no more "cookie cutter" builds, or +50 to str items. Didn't they remove charms too? Didn't they say they were focusing on rare items again? People couldn't pump vit and survive.
They are turning Diablo into Gauntlet.
"Over the top" spells? Yay
Totally unrealistic environments and equipment? Yay
Humorous violence? Yay
Regulated leveling? Yay
Bright, clashing colors? Yay
Health drops that you can't store? Yay
Not returning to town in the middle of a level? Yay
Enemy generators? Yay
Granted, Gauntlet is one of my favorite games of all time, so I'm not panicing about the simularities (I only got D2 because I loved gauntlet so much), but it is totally different from what D1 & D2 were like.[/QUOTE]

D3 Cons: Fantasy architecture, fantasy armor, fanstasy weapons, no shaders.
Wow, someone complaining what a surprise.....anyways I think the skill runes look badass and who says that they are keeping the "no stats" things anyways; probably are A still working on it or B left it out so people would not take forever playing the demo. I think I'm more into making my character unique....rather than playing around with stats; though it would be weird to see them go.
This is a stupid idea, way to severly reduce the character customization and strategy of character builds... How dumbed down are they making this game? No potions? no break from the action, no assigning of stat points to cusomize our character builds as you level... Is this an action rpg or an arcade game?So basicly all level 50 Barbarian's are gonna have identical base stats, no specialization in strength or vitality or whatever to suit your path...Come on, lets no simplify the game so much so that it's made for 5 year olds... I LIKE assigning my own stat points as I level up, it gives me the sense that I have more control over my characters template and this completely removes that, there is no reason too.. Picking up on yet another worthless MMORPG trait.

Did you read about Skill customization? Also the Skill trees seem much larger and many passive skills seem to affect stats.
that change will make it more interesting to chose the right items for your class/spec. Everyone kept using the same stats and the same items in Diablo 2. This will change things in a better direction.
I'm more into making my character unique....rather than playing around with stats.
Because everyone with the same stats is unique.
People keep saying that this will force people to find items that are unique to them because everyone was using the same items in D2.
But they are removing runewords. That alone would have solved the problem. Uniques (without botting) are too rare to be "cookie cutter," and with the improved focus on rare items, stat assignment would be even important.
Like you're, say, a wizard. You find a good set of armor. Because you're a caster you die fast in combat. You need more strentgh to use it, and you've gained a level, but you also run out of mana faster than you'd like, seeing as monsters seem to swarm you all the time. Do you use your points to last longer if you get hit by getting the armor, or take down more enemies with you spells by pumping mana?
I also love how the Blizzard fanatics jump on anyone who doesn't brown nose D3. I was making an observation – not a complaint. I think D3 will be a fantastic game, OK?

Ok so you can customize your skills....big whoop..how many of these runes are there gonna be, and how bad are they all gonna suck beside like 1-2? Give it a month or so after release and everyone will be using the same rune on their skills thus making cookie cutter builds again. No reason whatsoever to remove stats that we can manipulate. Blizzard needs to stop trying to making everyone on an even playing field, there are people that are good at games and people that suck, they need to let people learn and play and stop catering to them. This is nothing but a shot in the face to anyone who was remotely good at Diablo in my eyes.
It is more unique then auto stats because you were given a choice. Diablo was all about choices. I choose to put more str in then vita or I choose to put more vita in then energy. With auto stats you no longer get that choice. Now yea in D2 everyone pretty much has same builds but you are still given that choice to make your guy different, does that mean you will be worse then everyone else? No. By all means not at all. Just because you dont have as much life or mana as someone doesn't mean your character is any less usable in pvp or pve. which turns to my point of why take away stat manipulation unless you really want everyone to be the same.
Like I said its a slap in the face of players who are good at Diablo and it is just catering to newbie people who couldn't hang with the good players. They require a bad system like WoW and other MMOs where all their decisions are made for them so they can be at the same level of someone who is good. So like I said hell just ditch the Diabo name and make an MMO with Heaven and Hell cause thats where this is going so far.
