Alright, I'm sure many of us have noticed the vandalism that occurs fairly frequently on the wiki. Most of the time, it simply involves spamming a talk page with links to other sites selling various goods and services.
However, occasionly these spammers will edit actual articles, and overwrite legitimate content. Is there an easy and permanent way to stop this spamming for good?

The easiest solution is to make accounts necessary. Which will force these editors to register. Which will make us require registration. Which is kind of annoying, but will bring it up to how registration works on this forum. It's a possibility. I would say that's it's not really utilizing the advantages of a wiki, but looking objectively at this, we've never benefited from anonymous users to any great extent so far. I really think editing hassle should be kept at a minimum however.

Requiring registration would help a lot, I believe. Wikipedia made that change a little while ago, I think.
Nope, I can still edit pages there.

What about creating a wikipedia account that's linked to a existing account.
Well we're seeing what can be done about this. I'm not a big fan of making this a manual requirement, but if registration here carried over to the wiki automatically, then perhaps.
PlugY for Diablo II allows you to reset skills and stats, transfer items between characters in singleplayer, obtain all ladder runewords and do all Uberquests while offline. It is the only way to do all of the above. Please use it.

We used to have a wiki back on the forum I was in. First off, you had to register. Second off, there was a log, citing who did what whatever the fuck it is.

Do that, it makes everything easy.
Obviously we have a log; in fact every page has a complete history of every edit ever made, that's how wiki's work. The problem, as I see it, is finding out when if poeple have made subtle edits. So far I've never encountered any such stylish vandalism though, so I don't see how big of a problem this is as of yet.

I mean you need an account to edit, create, and so on, articles. That way there wouldn't be just a bunch of random IP's editing at a whim.
