pot is good for you, in fact it almost not quite balances out with the neg effects. it creates a lining in your esoph and lungs that can prevent cancer, their is no record of anyone ever overdosing, and smoking brings people together! ha i dunno theirs alot more but thats jus the things i can get off the top of my head. even thou i dont smoke, its not that bad for u. it starts to get bad when your skipping things to smoke or worse you start selling it. ill leave you all with these last few words i live by: party till you puke, then party some more!

Maybe. But then I'm complled to argue that what one thinks is affecting their brain negatively is what another things is affecting their brain positively. Now obviously, if you're abusing drugs to the point of having, say, lots of free radicals floating around in your head, then yes that's probably a negative thing.
But to just state that anything that negatively affects your brain is bad is too obvious to even mention. I guess what I was looking for was his own examples of what be believes affects the brain in a negative way.
I can attest to that, my friend went from being a straight A stundent to someone who wasn't even able to do basic math with higher levels, his vocabulary got worse and more towards the end of High School... but he took smoking up to a new level, if not even dimension :(. He would use pot as seasoning to any kind of food when he wasn't able to smoke, which he did on a nearly hourly basis.
What that means then is that your friend went from using pot, to abusing pot. And you really shouldn't abuse anything.
What that means then is that your friend went from using pot, to abusing pot.
What do you mean by "using" or "abusing" a drug ? I've never used any drugs nor alcohol, I can't really say what's the feeling of addiction of a drug but I'm sure using drugs will always lead to abusing it as long as the user has enough money and freedoom to do so.
All I meant was that it's possible to try a drug, even do it occasionally, and not be abusing (over using) it.
The example of Ferret's friend, clearly that guy was abusing drugs. The problem with the distinction between using and abusing is some people merely have different standards for abuse. Like how some might think that smoking pot once a week is too much, others may see that as moderate.
I think once it begins interferring with your daily life and you are spending money on drugs that should be spent on things such as food or your bills, then you're definitely abusing a drug.

I think that depends on the personality of the person. Some are more prone to addiction than others. But not everyone has an addictive personality. Smoking pot was practically all I did in high school. But one day, I merely grew out of it. It simply became boring and a waste of my money. I haven't done it for years and haven't had the desire to do so since. So just because a person has the money and freedom to do so, that hardly is their motivation for continuing to use.
If people want to do drugs that badly, they'll find a way whether or not they have the freedom or money to do so. In the U.S., there are many drugs that you technically do not have the freedom to do, but that's not stopping anyone now is it?
Freedoom I meant by having someone like parents or any person from your family watching over you. Yes, now I understand what you meant by abusing it. Although I have to yet to understand why some people move from pot to cocain or heroin. Not getting high enough ?

I guess the drug just isn't strong enough for them anymore so they move on to something stronger
Why do they buy 15 Ferrari's rather than a Hyndai??
I have wen't through High School and I noticed the grade behind me started out good, about 9th grad shit hit the fan so to say. 75% of the grade has used pot on a regular basis and no lie about half of them show up to school high or drunk. They have been in an out of rehab in some cases more times than I can count. THey have been caught with drugs in school, overdosed in school numerous times and on top of that more crimes that I don't have time to say.

If you ever meet a hafling and a hungry dragon you dont have to outrun the dragon, you only have to outrun the hafling.
in a rough estimate i would say about 80% of my high school smokes and with a few exceptions, their is no crime or declining grades. only in special cases, abusers not users, have declined in their grades
