Now before you start to post replies to this topic around the whole "ooohhh not another graphics/visual complaining thread again" just here me out.
Been playing the Open beta recently and Iv'e noticed at all levels of the game whenever loot drops for example, armor, the drop graphic on the floor (before picking it up) looks the same for all tiers of armor??. What I'm trying to say is if a low level crude material chest armor falls, i.e like a etched jacket or a crude basic cloak, the graphic all looks like a shiny superior high tier plate armor on the floor until you pick it up ?? Whats with that?
every item that drops all have the same graphics depending on what the item is. I just dont like the graphical representation of a pair of leather gloves on the floor looking like a shiny pair of high tier plate gaunlets.
Will they change the graphics for the final build of the game to make it more detailed and realistic?
Are there any posts like this wanting the same thing or any posts on the official feedback forums?
1. They've saved some investments (i.e. time of designers) into graphical work by doing this therefore letting their employees to concentrate on really important graphical aspects.
2. Do you really care about how it looks on the floor?
To my mind they've done a really great work to let you see a brand-new character each time you change a piece of armor.
I seem to recall Titan Quest showing the actual item on the floor. I guess they were just more advanced back then
It's a minor detail, but it does take away from emersement and undermines the polish of the rest of the game. For a company as big and well funded as Blizzard you would expect small things like this to be covered.
I totally agree, its not a huge deal...but as hifiboi pointed out..For a company as big as blizzard and there constant talk of polishing and polishing which has delayed the game countless times..every detail is important to the fans!!!! TQ had it and Blizzard don't??? come on guys.. its 2012..and not to mention 15 years in the making....just sayin'
The problem is, is that it's quite impossible (especially for armor) to do what you want. Armor changes appearance based upon who is wearing it. So your shiny piece of platemail on a barbarian will turn into a leather piece on a monk or DH. Into a cloth piece on your wizard, and possibly have moving tentacles on it on your WD. Since items change based upon who wears it at the time, it's almost silly to show how it appears on the ground.
For weapons, I'm not sure the complaint. We don't even know if the drops of higher level weapons look like they should or not. I doubt they will, but the variety is so low in beta it's really hard to form an opinion.
Also, can you really see item detail on the ground amidst the clutter?
