Uh, not really! Diablo isnt that hard to learn, if you have never played online with other people before, and your first choice is diablo, then you might have a learning curve.
They recently changed the Interface to be more newbie friendly, I think you'll do just fine starting out and you can master the game at your own pace.
if you're looking for cheap games that are similar, Torchlight and Titan Quest are both on Steam and pretty easy to get, not too expensive either. Titan Quest might be a bit more complex than you want to get into if you're new, however.
Hah - trust me, D3 is going to be soooo easy to pick-up-and-play :P. They recently nerfed the first pack of monsters (a bunch of zombies) you fight just because someone's mom got her character killed at that part, or so I hear :P.
'Easy to learn but hard to master' is Blizzard's current design mantra, and from the looks of things, the game is definitely living up to that. You could, as KageKaze said, pick up Titan Quest or Torchlight. Both are very cheap at the moment and will give you a ROUGH idea of how an action-RPG is like. I'd recommend you start with Torchlight though, as it is easier than TQ on the lower difficulty settings - a good way to ease you into the appropriate mindset.
Note, however, that D3 was designed from the ground-up to solve many of the issues that Action-RPGs have. For this reason, it really may not be a bad idea to just NOT play another A-RPG until D3 comes out.
It's not going to be hard to learn. I was like 12 when I played the first one and I managed to get a good idea of how to play. The more you preparing your self the easier ot will be for you YouTube works wonders
I can hardly think of an easier game to play. Point, click and kill. That being said easy to play doesn't mean it can't be fun. It's part of the reason I love playing Diablo games because they don't require extensive cerebral activity. We'll see if Blizzard keeps the game play mechanic of us having to click on monster to target and kill them. (j/k).
Like everyone has said, it will be easy to learn. But at the same time it wont be the game where you can go to the hardest setting . Your not going to get by just by have what ever armor, weapons and just click any thing.
Diablo is a really easy game to get into, like Knapper3 said but a little younger, I was still in elementary school when I started playing Diablo 2 and i got the hang of it really easily. It's just point and click and press numbers on your keyboard lol and pick the best gear which is pretty straight forward just compare your items. Best bet would be Titan Quest like the others said or if you can get your hands on diablo 2 that will also be good enough to get a grasp of the game.
Are you kidding? You click a button and watch zombies fly. You change a skill and then click the same button you watch a couple zombies fly. I don't see how it can get any more easier. Perhaps if zombies were carrying signs that say "Left click me in the head".
Combat depth is another one of our goals; Diablo III is designed to be a modern action game, built on the mantra of “easy to learn, difficult to master.” What that means for the player is picking a set of skills and abilities that work together, and then executing them in ways that lead to success
So it seems that Blizzard is trying to cater to the people new to the Diablo 3 universe with Diablo 3. Which is a good thing. Because we were all novices at Diablo at some point in time. And it's we can hope the Diablo novices of today can become tomorrow's masters. And this will lead to a much more diverse and numerous playerbase for the game.
hey. dont think d3 will have a hard learning curve. Else theres games like torchlight that could help. BUT then again, kinda sux and gets boring compared to diablo
Why do you think D3 would be better though? I have played MMO but nothing in the 2d genre

I have never played Diablo or any game in this genre. Is it goign to be hard to get into the game and enjoy it?
Can anyone recomend a current game, beside the orignal Diablos that would help the learning curve?
